I tell that one to my sons now!  :laugh: And I think it's true that if you don't eat nutritious food as you're growing, your body won't develop to its full capacity.

And BTW, the warning that "if you make those faces, your face will freeze that way" is kind of true also. The moms who say this just don't add that it will take 40 years, and the "freezing" will be in the form of wrinkles!  :-\

My mother used to tell us if we swallowed watermelon seeds, a plant would grow in our stomach.

She also said if you poke around in a campfire before you go to sleep, you'll wet the bed during the night.

I also remember her placing acorns on the window sills during a storm. She said it would prevent lightening from striking the house.

Weird, huh?

I remember mom hanging a knotted rope on the porch. She said it would keep the snakes away.

She always said "if a child sings before age seven, they will cry before eleven"  ???

"Stepping on Daddy Long Legs will make it rain"

"If you cut your hair during the full moon it will grow back faster"

"If you tickle an infant's feet, it will grow up to stutter"

"Always plant your garden on Good Friday for a plentiful harvest in the Fall"

"If the cat sneezes it means you will be receiving money soon"

Mom never let cats near a new born baby either. She said the cat might suck the breath out of the infant and kill it.
