As the World Turns - Luke and Noah (Videos)

Daniel:
Parts 117 and 118, unfiltered.  The poster of the filtered videos is having some trouble, so here are the unfiltered parts 117 and 118 of the Luke and Noah storyline.

Here they are, filtered, if you prefer to leave out the other storylines.

Daniel:
As beautiful as the last segment of today's episode was, a number of Nuke supporters are absolutely infuriated by the lack of a direct kiss... instead of the implied one. But I have been struck by the cold force of reality and have come to the inevitable conclusion that the actors simply do not like kissing each other. That is a possibility that had not gone through my mind many times before, but kissing a person is perhaps the most intimate you can become with that person, so I can see why some would not be willing to do that with persons with whom they are uncomfortable becoming extremely intimate. Actors can put this feeling behind them when required generally, so I had assumed that Van and Jake were already comfortable with the idea. And indeed, the last full kiss (the one that was cut down to size - see page 4) seemed to me like an involved and matured kiss, and there was no sign of discomfort on the part of the actors.

But let's face reality here. The actors themselves, Van and Jake are straight (as much as we might hope otherwise), and as human beings, deserving of their own sexual identity and the freedom to say "No" to certain situations when it's not something they want to do. Of course, this is based on the premise that the act of kissing is uncomfortable for both actors, and I think it is phenomenal enough to realize that both actors are willing to portray the story because its an important one. But I am wondering now if our pressure to have them kiss is perhaps too adamant.

If you are gay man, consider what you would do if you were asked to kiss a woman whom you were not attracted to. Many people would find this extraordinarily difficult, despite psychological preparation, method acting tips, or any other assortment of behavioral guides.

Now, of course, if the question is censorship... and there is still some doubt in my mind that envelops this possibility, then it is something that we, the audience can do something about. But I am reserved at this point. I am willing to determine if it is the actors themselves that are holding out because of their personal beliefs and they are doing what they can to portray the love story without yielding too much to the demand of others while sacrificing their core beliefs, or engaging in behavior that may very well be personally repugnant to both of them. They certainly have a right to do so, and I would hold them in high regard for either case.

According to the people in the know, they had kissed, it's just that it was not shown.  Both Van and Jake had said they have no problem kissing, so I don't think the lack of kissing shown was due to them.  I am as confused as all other viewers as to why the kiss scene was omitted, however, the writing and lead up to the delcaration was beautifully done.

Daniel:
Alright... if that's the case, we might need to join the letters to Proctor & Gamble Campaign. It is CENSORSHIP, that evil which would scour truth from the world to save face and preserve the status quo.

Daniel:
Of course, if people keep watching the show in hopes of seeing a Nuke kiss, and they are aggravated by the lack of one, the fact remains that they are still watching the show. So perhaps that might be something that needs to stop. I don't think the networks are interested in pandering to the demands of their audience, only in the amount of viewership that they receive. So they know, that if people are writing to the producers, then the show is being watched, even if the scenes that people want to see are not being released to the network.

In order to force real change, it may become necessary to stop watching it... :(
