As I am fairly new to this story, I don't know how reliable the source is but I've inquired and was told that 'beautiful prose' is a reliable source, so believe it or take it with a grain of salt is up to our own judgement.
Regarind fanfic, Van's fansite has a section set aside for fanfics, I haven't read them as I am already overloaded with other things, if someone is interested to explore that aspect, feel free to visit Van's fansite.
