Tonight, my first Brokie is coming over for dinner.  Despite advice given here, I decided to stick with the original recipe for the Chicken Cordon Bleu casserole recipe.  I'm not the most skilled cook, and changing a recipe can be daunting.  Perhaps next time!

Tonight's menu consists of the casserole, some corn-on-the-cob, and some beans, because, after all, it's too early in the summer to be sick of beans!

Your menu sounds really good, Chuck.  I love the addition of the corn-on-the-cob. Way too early in the summer to be sick of that.   ;D

Well, it's 11:30, my guest has gone, and I'm all cleaned up after dinner.

The menu was a hit.  Most of the casserole is gone, as are most of the beans and all the corn.

 ;D

I should have mentioned that it's always best to cook the recipe the way it's given first, and then experiment on the second batch. This often created problems for my family in the past as I experimented with a dish on them and then cooked it again a few days later for a special event. Then they truly were sick of [insert dish here] !!

Glad your dinner was a success, Chuck!

And P.S.

Even though you didn't put asparagus in the casserole, I've been thinking that that might make a good side dish for it, just a small can of heated asparagus tips.  If you happen to like them.

I bought a couple of such cans the other day and am thinking of having a can of asparagus tips on the side, to go with a salad, today.

Hiya BetterMost friends.

How is everyone doing today?

Yes, it will be a bit of a lazy Sunday!  ;D  I'm happy for that.  The only real thing I need to do is my laundry.  I slept in to about 7:30, had breakfast, and I'm catching up online, and then it's out for a walk in about 10 minutes.

Ok, so I've got my laundry packed and I'm ready to go to see mom and dad for lunch.  I walk across the living room and what do I see on the INSIDE of the window?  A wasp.  This time, I had Raid and the wasp is dead.  Good side....this was a different insect, so unless the yellow jackets, hornet, and wasp were all living together, there isn't one nest near-by.  Bad side...last night was cool so the windows were open (yes, I have screens) and today is hot so the air is on, so I still don't know if they are coming in through the windows or the air vent.  Either way, I'm not amused.  Super has been called and he's calling pest control tomorrow.

Glad to hear your first Brokie dinner in your own home went so well, Chuck!

There's something special about having Brokies visiting, isn't there!

Hiya BetterMost friends.

How is everyone doing today?   I had a great weekend, and I hope you can say the same!

Back in my cube now, and trying to get myself geared up for the day.  Ugh!  I wish I had another day off.  LOL  Next week on Thursday I'll have the day off, it's Independence Day.  I've already been invited to a BBQ on Wednesday night, which I like because I'd rather not stay out late on Thursday and have to be up early on Friday.

It's gonna be hot as Hell for the entire week here, they're saying it will break come Friday.  We'll see.  I'll just say I'm glad for central air!

Exterminators will be around my place today, a wasp got into the apartment on Sunday, and that's the 4 flying, stinging insect to get in.  Tally so far is two yellow jackets, one hornet and a wasp.

Ugh!

I hope they find out what is going on and stop them from getting in!

Hiya BetterMost friends.

Yup, it's past 7:00 this evening, and I'm just getting here!  Ugh!   It was really busy at work, but I managed to get most of my stuff done, and I think I'm on top of everything.

I had to close the blinds a little while ago, the air was on and set for 68 degrees, and I was watching the temp go up and up.  The sun heating the windows was preventing the temps from going down.  Now that the blinds are down, the temp has dropped 5 degrees in and soon the air will go off on its own.

Don't think I have any plans this weekend, but it's still early. ;D

Ooooh, stay cool, Chuck!  Good that you have blinds to keep out the hot afternoon sun.

Have a good weekend, whatever you do.  A little time to rest up is never a bad thing.   ;D

I will be out of town this weekend, as you know.  And hopefully by the time the weekend is over, I will have seen a play (if it's not rained out, at an outdoor theater) and seen some old friends.  And hopefully won't have been rained on too much.
