Is it the same jacket?

Yes it is. And it's the same jacket in both scenes:

Reunion:

Lake side argument:

In the lake side argument you can see how old and worn the jacket is (respectively has been made by some costume person).

Have you noticed the awkward postition of Ennis' left arm in the second pic? It's a mirror of Jack's arm position when he tries to still the blood running from Ennis' nose at their last day on the mountain (directly before the dirty punch).

Thanks so much Chrissi!

Yes, I did notice that! That's interesting isn't it?

That's another scene I watched repeatedly last night. The way Jack drawls Ennis, Ennis, Ennis, and the concerned look on his face just blows me away. I think it's so interesting that the moment Jack puts his hand on Ennis's cheek the way he did in TS2, Ennis knocks him down...

One of my favorite stills from the movie!
Ennis is so cute in this picture! Just layin there smiin and content.
I wish there had been more scenes like that.

Well, he kept it for 15 years -- I've had clothes that long too. I'm more like Ennis than Jack in the $$ department -- especially since I got divorced. He was making child support payments, and that jacket was good enough. Bless his heart, too.

Melissa, your new avatar is very cute!

I really remember this about some of the Ennis-shirts that people brought to the BBQ in May... a lot of them were very clearly deliberately distressed.  It also seems like Ennis's aqua truck (the one EDelMar has) has been deliberately distressed... some of the brown "rust stains" are paint.  I remember thinking that was really cool.

:)
