It's more than one thing Shasta - cat's need a diet quite different from a dog - and it's important for their overall survival, not just their digestive system. Cat's have to eat meat (true carnivores), dogs do eat meat, but they can actually live without it. Dogs can make certain amino acids that cats can't. Cat's need to get them from their diet.
It's okay for cats to eat some dog food, as long as it's not the bulk of their diet, just like we can't eat only french fries.
'kay. public service annoucement from resident veterinarian is over with.
Are you really a veterinarian or are you just saying that? It's always good to have one with the group in case any of us need advice
I have never fed my cat dog food. He would probably eat it, but he likes his cat food just fine, especially his Ocean Seafood Cocktail with Sauce and Tuna with Mussels Sheba. He also like Hot Wings and Pizza from Dominos and Pizza Hut or at least he did when he was a kitten. I haven't given him that since then though and then he only got some tiny pieces. Now the other night when I brought in a Supersonic Cheesburger and Onion Rings he went wild thinking they were for him
He didn't get any though. He got his cat food instead.
