Kelda:
There's quite a debate on tarflies about the whole M&M penalty...

the conclusion is..

When teams barter with their own goods, they are essentially bringing the very funds and resources that they were not allowed to bring with them - one of the greatest of challenges on the race is to make do without the social contacts you've developed, without the finances you've earned, and without the technology which you have familiarized yourself. You could ask yourself: What if Mark & Michael had paid the cab driver with money they brought with them? Ultimately, paying for services with goods you've brought with you is no different. (And it would be an unfair advantage if a richer team could bring a rolex as a watch rather than say a timex watch)

Last year, when Team Superbad, tried (but failed to) barter with their shoes, they were shoes they had bought with race money.

We think it must be a new-ish rule because there is no way Uchenna would have been willing to barter his watch at the finish line in S7 if he knew he'd get a 2 hour penalty.

That helps explain things. And I can see their point. But it also makes me wonder, given this no barter rule - what teams should do if for some reason the cannot pay the cab fare through no fault of their own, such as the cab getting stuck in heavy traffic and the fare increasing much higher than it normally would. Failing to pay a cab fare is essentially stealing, and theft can often carry very severe penalties in some countries. :-\

PLeas with them until they let you off? Its a bit of a wierd zone isn;t it - I personally would rather give them something of mine than leave them out of pocket. Particularly in areas where they aren't as well off.

Kelda:
I think Mama and Baby Bear got a little over zealous tonight and thought Keish and Jen were playing up to them because of Luke being deaf - I can understand why she got into Momma mode as she was angry but Keisha and Jen were not being mean to him becasue of his deafness. And he did push her first.. see what the tension will do to you, eh!?!

Yes, they were at the tipping point already, and those smirks set them off. And I really do think it was JEN who started it. She attacked Luke at the clue box... both times. >:(

In my opinion. ;)
