Aha, like I said: interesting!

I can't wait to see Dirks face when i tell him that I'm going to put pork in my crockpot and cook it all day with Bone Suckin Sauce...

I'm sure it's delicious though. Do they have this in Canada too? Or is it a US speciality?

They may serve it in Canada, but bbq is a pretty uniquely American invention, I think. There are battles about the type of barbecue, too: pork or beef, tomato based or vinegar, the Carolinas vs. Texas vs. Kansas vs. Tennessee, etc.

I like vinegar based (Carolina style) pulled pork, myself.

Fabienne (and anyone else)...if you really want to learn about barbecue, this is a great article:

An American Barbecue Pilgrimmage

http://www.slate.com/id/2118542/entry/2118537/

Regarding my comment from before, here's a quote....

(...Barbecue is one of the last bastions of local prejudice in American life: Every state in the South—and some in the Midwest—thinks its barbecue is the first, most authentic, and best in the nation. If you want to see hatred, just put a Texan and a North Carolinian in a room and ask them who makes more righteous barbecue. A Democratic presidential candidate could fracture the Republican South with a few well-placed barbecue ads.)

When next in New York, be sure to try the pulled pork barbecue at Bone Lick Park, on Greenwich Avenue, just off Seventh Avenue.  ;)

Coleslaw is available. Also beans.  :)
