Morning all,

10 degrees here this morning. We ended up with 6 inches yesterday (that's the official count) but it seemed like more. Apparently the storm was due to something called the "Norlan Trough."

And my comment on snow records (yesterday) was a bit in error. We have had 28.8 inches so far, but the record for the month is 1970, when 54.8 inches fell. I hope we don't get 26+ inches more this month to break that record!

And for my European friends, 28.8 inches is 73.15 cm.

Goodmorning Leslie!

Well winter really is winter for you isn't it? We just have a cold snap, a bit of frost, no snow. My garden looks pretty. I bet yours does too. Seen any turkeys or coyotes lately? I've put some food out for the birds and at the rate they're pecking away at it, i need to replace it every other day! 

And 73,15 cm of snow? I've seen that... in the Alps!

I haven't seen any coyotes since that one sighting. The turkeys haven't been around, either. But we have three pairs of cardinals (I am waiting for them to show up this morning). The bright red males are so pretty against the white, white, white of my backyard. I love watching them.

And everyone, it's December 21st, Solstice Day. Winter officially begins today and yahoo! Tomorrow the days start getting longer!

*phew* where did the last 1000 go? My first 1000 took almost one year, the second 1000 were faster and the third 1000 just flew by.
