When you put people in charge of the government who are committed to proving that it doesn't work, you can be sure that they will cause it to not work.

:o  Weird stuff - fun!!
...Etymology is so cool!!!    :D :D

In more odd-word news, I had cause on Tuesday to look up 'Nanook' in wikipedia.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nanook

In Inuit mythology, Nanook or Nanuq was the master of bears, meaning he decided if hunters had followed all applicable taboos and if they deserved success in hunting bears.

  • Nanook or more properly Nanuq is also Inuktitut for "polar bear".
  • Frank Zappa wrote a song called "Nanook Rubs It", a part of Don't Eat the Yellow Snow, first appearing on his 1974 album Apostrophe.

I can't decide if it's a polar bear reference or a Frank Zappa allusion.

I don't know whether to make a joke or cry...

I'll go with crying on this one, Jess.  Scary.
