Brokie Fever Relapse

I've never noticed this before, but that object behind LD, looks kind of like a urn for keeping someones' ashes in.

Brown Eyes:
Heya,
I'm here to report a sneak-attack of Brokie fever that I had yesterday.  I was having drinks with a friend and told her about the Brokie community (including the trips and gatherings that have happened in the past) and even had a small discussion with her about the endless discussions about the meaning of the film/ story.  She's the first non-Brokie I've ever talk to about the Brokie phenomenon.  There are plenty of non-Brokies who know that I like the movie BBM, but not about Brokieness.

I actually teared up a tiny bit while talking about some of it with her... I had thought I was well beyond the stage of tearing up.  But, it was interesting because it reminded me that Brokie fever really can relapse sometimes unexpectedly.

She has only seen the movie one time, and really liked it... but had never really considered some of the things that we've gotten into here in the endless discussions.  I gave her the example of the ambiguity about how Jack died... and it never occurred to her that the scene of the beating/murder was just part of Ennis's imagination and that we don't have evidence that that really happened.  It was fun because she instantly got more intrigued...

She's part of two big fan forums, so I knew that she would understand the forum community thing and the idea of making friends through fan forums.

It really was an interesting experience to have that conversation.

Front-Ranger:
Yee-haw, friend! You just may have made a new convert!!  :D

Meryl:
I've been having a bit of a relapse of Brokie fever, too.  It started with the Boston weekend in early June and the comments that sprang up over a couple of pictures I took of us watching the DVD in Paul's living room.  Our new member Brokebacklove4ever started another wave with his (or her) "Thank you" thread.  Our "bump a thread" campaign caused me to re-read some old IMDb offerings, then I re-read the New Cult thread.  I feel another viewing of the movie coming on.  :-*

Kelda:
Cool!
