what is he smiling at?  I guess being naked in bed w/Max would do it  :)

Exactly! I would smile too. I would continue smiling for the rest of my life.   ;D

This was the moment I had the feeling it was no acting. Not a smile between Marc/Kay but between Hanno/Max. But it's just a feeling.

This scene must have been difficult for them. It's the most intimate scene of this movie. In an interview (the one on youtube) they said: love scenes are never easy, not even between man/woman.
So for 2 hetero guys, not used to close physical contact with another guy, it must be even more difficult.

In the audio comments they said about this scene: only the camara man was present to create as much privacy as possible for them. They said they experimented a lot during this scene and only few shots were in the movie.

You're so funny!  Their arms!

Well, I thought: we talked a lot about their faces. Let's discuss their arms. Just kidding.
I mean: is seams like Hanno leans a bit over to Max and their arms are in touch. I know I see what I want to see, but they are just so cute together.

another good print interview.

I love a guy who can use "existential" correctly in a sentence (Hanno)  :)

http://www.braunschweiger-zeitung.de/debatte/leser_fragen/schwule-polizisten-und-bruechige-selbstbilder-id1019021.html

Great interview.

Nadine Haufe : Do you have contacts and references to the gay - lesbian -bi- transgender scene?

Koffler : Well logically . But there is something else that attracted me to the film. While it is also about homophobia and coming out - but only secondarily . Above all, the film will tell at eye level, how two people fall in love . And like it a love triangle is formed. So there is a married guy who falls in love with a man and his wife, he actually loves even - he really wants to have it all.
[/b]

Exactly that is how I experienced the movie.
But he is talking about coming out? Does this mean the scene with Gregor was meant as a confirmation he had something going on with Kay? Like we thought? It's the only coming out moment in the movie (except his confession to Bettina that he had an affair with Kay, but what else could he do, his mother knew and Bettina already felt there was something strange about Marc/Kay).

Of course, it is helpful if a love between men is still a little strange, with someone to rotate together with the chemistry absolutely true. Max and I wanted this idea to tell this story together with a very trusting director and we wanted to give it 150 percent.

I love the way they talk about this. How they used their friendship (in the youtube interview they called it brotherhood) to make this movie authentical.  Not once (in interviews) they give the impression that it was hard for them, just "a little strange".

Some remarkable statements from reviews (with my comments).

You will not watch this movie more than once.

Well, definately some people do watch it more than once.

But for the straight audience he cemented the oldest false prejudices: The evil gay, who deceives the straight father and destroyed a whole family.

What a negative statement. As far as I know, everybody loves the evil Kay.

Who is looking for sexual  gay acts will be disappointed. Except for a few fake sex scenes and a few naked men in the shower he will get nothing to see.

I would suggest to the writer to watch a porn movie. Not a serious movie with serious actors.

I hated this ugly, depressing movie. Even Max Riemelt (Kay), one of the most beautiful men in the world, looks bad here - and what he would ever see in Hanno Koffler (Marc), one of the ugliest, is beyond imagining. There is no "chemistry" between them, by the way, only dark, slogging depression, dishonesty and cowardice - in Marc, who, unfortunately, is the star of this movie, and the only character who is given even the shallowest bit of depth.

This person must be very depressive. Max looking bad and Hanno ugly? No chemistry? Remarkable.

In conclusion, I would recommend this film to anyone, "straight" or gay, black or white, tall or short, skinny or full figuered. It just doesn't matter. This is a simple, yet intense and mesmerizing , love story for EVERYONE!

Now, that sounds better!

After seeing it so many times, yes, I thought so, too.  It looked like something was said or done between the two friends, not Marc & Kay.  At a romantic time like that, it's not really a time you would smile, so maybe one of them said something - who knows?  But it makes it even more intimate, more loving.

I'd like to have a few words with the cameraman  ;)
"Do you mind if I smoke?"
"I don't care if you shoot up."

Hey, we can talk about every part of them.  And it is sweet that he's leaning in to touch him.

Thankfully, almost all the comments from viewers that I saw were positive.  "Evil" Kay, "no chemistry" (?!?!?), "ugly" - they did not see the same movie I saw.
