I have been toying with the idea of doing a series of posts here about the the many personalities involved with Brokeback Mountain, a decade ago, and what they have gone on to. David's Harbour's speach has got me fired up now, so I will give it a shot, starting with The Orginator:
E. Annie ProulxProulx has gone on from the days of Brokeback to build her home in Wyoming, Bird Cloud, the act of which she chronicled in the book by the same name. She has gone on to write the Libretto for the Opera adaptation of Brokeback Mountain, which contains my most favorite line of anything relating to the story :
"I want to live in town, and have a Princess Phone!"She also in the process, gave us an answer the the long held question we had about the last line Ennis mutters: the tag line I use when I post here: "It was only you in my life, and it will always be only you, Jack, I swear."
Her most recent work,
Barkskins, came out last year. I heard an interview on NPR, maybe it was Terry Gross, in which she talked about it. I am going to check it out today.
