--- Quote from: Shuggy on April 21, 2006, 04:29:29 am ---That's traditional here. In Maori, the words for "placenta" and "land" are the same (whenua) and it is quite usual for a placenta to be buried under a newly planted tree (good fertilizer).

I agree. I also take it with a ton of salt.

Interesting info on the Maori inflection on this subject; thanks for that.

As for Tom's quote, apparently he was joking and his words were taken out of context. Or so a co-worker assures me. But if we hadn't taken ol' Tom at his word, then we wouldn't have enjoyed this scintillating discussion on the perilous pleasures of placentophagia. I do feel a bit sheepish about the whole affair now (where are my Jack and Ennis to steer me right?).

Pipedream:
Maybe Tom, having digested the placenta, is already competing with Baby Suri for Katie's mother's milk.
He'll probably tell the world in one of his next television appearances.

 :P

David:
ENNIS!!   Quit yer yammering and git in here!

I see you lurking Brandon!

twistedude:
Mother cats eat all that goop--just as part of the cleaning-up process..no special sentiments attached, as far as i can see. Better her than me!

In the hospital, the doctor often winds the placenta up on a big spool--like he was winding flax.

Sort of O/T: I couldn't read the name of Cruise's new film  (MIA.111) on the posters...until I heard it on the radio or TV...

Goodnight, you Princes...

Ray:
You make me pee with laughter Julie.  I would love to have a beer with you!
