I love a big ol dog...how old is he? We have had a run of dogs dying or coming up missing. We had five adult dogs and eight puppies. Now we are down to four adults and one puppy! :P
the state says there are no cougars around here but we have seen prints and people we trust say they have seen them. The state says what we have been seeing is bobcats. Right. Like we can't tell the difference between a little ol bobcat and a cougar. >:(
I think that is what is getting those puppies. We have found remains and the only other thing we can think of that could do that is wild hogs. I know I don't go to my garden anymore without a weapon. (I have my garden way out back...so I don't have to weed it!)

Orangy's a pretty large dog, and being large, at 11 1/2 he's up in years. Chasing animals is about the only time he's very active, usually he just lies around. He looks a bit arthritic getting up and lying down. He's our first and only dog so far, when he passes we'll probably get another one, probably a little smaller. There have been some mountain lion sightings here, as well as some bears, but no encounters with Orangy.

11 is old for a big dog...ever think about getting a cat?
I got a cat that thinks it is a dog. Fetches and everything! LOL!!
fritzkep:
Our next-door neighbor back home has several cats, so we have them in our yard, when Orangy doesn't chase them. But we'll stick to good old friendly dogs.

I read a study about how they think now that cats were domesticated before dogs...that they domesticated themselves by coming in to eat rodents and all..and that explains their attitude problem!
I say they haven't been domesticated yet...we are still waiting....
