Some years ago, I read in a magazine: You know you're getting old .... when the heroes of your youth become forty.
This was applied to Johnny Depp's fortieth b-day, and I thought OMG, he's forty already?. LOL. Now I'm forty myself and had the same reaction when I read on imdb that Kevin Bacon is fifty today. Yes, he was one of the heroes of my youth and I had a crush on him.
I read some trivia about him on imdb:
- He's born in Philadelphia (which makes me think of Jeff and Amanda, who are both PA-bound)
- He is together with Kyra Sedgwick for twenty years (which I think is great)
- Inspired a game called Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon, whereby people have to link any given actor to him by no more than six steps. For instance, to do Fred MacMurray, you could observe that MacMurray worked with Lee Marvin in The Caine Mutiny (1954), which is one step; and Marvin worked with Jane Fonda in Cat Ballou (1965), which is two steps; and Fonda worked with Jack Lemmon in The China Syndrome (1979), which is three steps; and Lemmon worked with Bacon in JFK (1991), which completes the link in four steps. Harder versions of the game exist, limiting the player to five, four or even three steps. Coincidentally I stumbled over Kevin Bacon while searching on imdb for an answer to our "Six Degrees of BBM" game ;D

I dunno, take away the Gucci and the Levis, and I would still be fully dressed. Does he really think that Gucci is an example of a brand the run of the mill person wears?

Yeah, that's what I thought. But most of those discounts are still out of my reach at age 59! There was a movie theater here that offered discounts starting at age 55 for awhile, but then they thought better of it and upped it to 62. Oh, well, I can wait. I'd rather not be 62 just yet. :P

You know you're getting old when .... you don't even recognize the heroes of your youth anymore! :o
Nah, I haven't caught Alzheimer's early, and my eyesight is still fine. It's Joe Cocker who has gotten that old. He's on the cover on my newpaper's cultural magazine today, and I didn't recognize him.
I coulnd't find the pic online, but here is a similar one, which must have been taken at the same photo session.
