I like both hot and cold tea. I prefer them both plain, but if I added anything it would be a lemon wedge to my cold tea. :)
I went all winter without a sniffle, but now I've got a cold so I'm actually having a cup of hot green tea right now - very soothing!
The green tea will get rid of that cold for you, Marie! Black tea is also an immune system booster. :)
Feel better soon, sweetie! :-*
I chose other...I like the iced tea in the South with lemon...It is usually served sweetened, but I try to pick unsweetened occasionally so I consume less sugar.
I also love hot tea with lemon and honey, both the traditional caffeinated and some herbal varieties.
I agree Kerry.......its tea with MILK.....not cream.
Maybe I should change the poll? This shows how much I know about tea!
After reading that article on MSNBC Shasta told me about,
Here it is (scroll through the pictures and you'll find the section on black tea)

I bought three boxes of black tea yesterday. And I drank five cups of it today. Well, that's a lie, sort of, I drank 2 cups of it, but I put 3 tea bags in one cup and two in another. I think it is a good idea to build up my immune system. Tormorrow I will do it again. I also take green tea pills. I've been taking them for awhile now.
Btw, the black tea is pretty damn good. I think they put other spices in there as well. It's very aromatic. :)
I just read your post Kerry, and I know what you mean with using tea leaves and brewing the tea.
Just in case you are not familiar with the making of tea, like this, David....you put the tea leaves in the tea pot, we used to to always put a teaspoon of tea for as many cups we wanted, then an extra teaspoon as well, which we said was "for the pot".
You then add boiling water to the teapot. And wait a few minutes for the tea to "brew", before pouring into a cup.
Just thought I would clear that up....I had this awful visual of David putting the actual tea pot on the stove.
That's not awful Sue. That's what I was fixing to do.
How do you do it? Seriously. If not on the stove, where then?
Should this Yank stick to tea bags after all? I really don't know if they even sell loose tea leaves over here. ???
I remember seeing loose tea when I was a kid. And many people also had a teapot in their homes. In fact I think I remember my Mom having one.
So the tea is simply put in the pot with the water? There isn't some type of compartment inside the teapot for the tea leaves? That must be why the tea strainer is used. It's sounds a bit complicated Kerry. Almost like a ritual. But I will keep my eyes open for a teapot. I'm all for it if it makes the tea taste better.
I just had my two cups of black tea today. The first cup was this morning and I used 3 tea bags. I used 2 tea bags for the second cup. So that's five tea bags! I'm going to get those hulk immune cells in 2 weeks if I keep it up. I also take green tea pills (2 twice a day) so I may get them even before the 2 weeks are up! :)
Here's a pic David, of some of the teapots I've collected over the years.
I dont use them, I just have them out on display.

Thank you Kerry. Yeah, I have a thing for odd tea pots, I have little ones sitting on my window sills around the house, each has its own story of where I got it from.
It is funny listening to David, about making a pot of tea. Something that we Aussies, just take for granted, cause we grew up with it. Sadly though, a lot of Aussies in their 20's and 30's probably have never made a pot of tea either.
Hey Kerry, remember the tea pot "cozy"?.....a little crocheted or knitted cover that fitted over the teapot to keep the contents hot.
Oh, and something else, I noticed in one of your posts. You mentioned boiling the water in a jug. Im not sure if they have "jugs" over there in the US. I remember one time I mentioned "jug" to an American, and was asked if I meant "female breasts"........
There are teapots with such a compartment, David, eliminating the need for a strainer when pouring. However, I think they're quite a modern invention. One usually sees such internal infusers in modern, glass teapots. Certainly, traditional china teapots don't have them.
Get yourself a teapot and try it, David. I think you'll like it. Is there a Chinatown there in Indianapolis? If so, that's where you'll be able to get a very good, inexpensive, porcelain teapot. In my experience, they make an excellent "cuppa." :D

I'm more of a hot chocolate person for a heated beverage, but not with hot milk, which usually makes me sick to my stomach for some reason.
Sue, nice teapot collection, but who is that strange man hiding under the table? Is that the tea fairy?
Its my cowboy coffee table.......

That's very impressive, Sue. But, why do you put your teapots on a coffee table?
Do you call them "coffee tables" over there.
My Mother always loved pottery. In the last couple years of her life she decided to take pottery classes at the local art center. She really enjoyed those classes and she was the first to admit she wasn't very good at it. But she had fun and I suppose that is the important part.
Anyway, I'm always coming across a piece of pottery she made tucked away somewhere at Dad's house. A couple of days ago I found a little teapot Mom made just a few months before she died. I found it in a box inside a cupboard. So, since this is the tea poll, I thought I would take a couple of pictures and share it with you. :)
The teapot is very tiny - about 5 inches tall and 6 or 7 inches from the spout to the handle.

Your mum's teapot is lovely David.
Treasure it........
I found it!!
I've been busy cleaning out the cupboards (again!) and I found the little teapot from my youth. This was Mom's teapot and she used it quite a bit. It is porcelain and it has raised flowers across the top. I remember seeing this teapot when I was little, and at some point in time Mom must have safely stored it away. I'll bet it's been inside that cupboard for 25 years or more. I'm not sure if it was handed down to her or if she bought it. It has "England" stamped on the bottom.

That's a beautiful teapot, David. You should use it to make yourself a nice pot of tea occasionally. :D
