Title: One Word Thread
Post by: Phillip Dampier on October 25, 2006, 11:58:06 pm: Unfortunately, the one word thread crashed the forum because the system interpreted the rapid fire posts as spam, and the normal security measures it employs to protect the forum failed, corrupting the thread so I had to delete it. Let's let the natural count of messages rise naturally. Sorry for having to zap the thread.

Update: I'm sorry if this remark of mine did not come across as the joke it was intended to be. I also was doing my share of extra posting at the time of the crash, in a group spirit, with some others. In the chat, I think my joking was clear. Here, not so much. It's the first time we've had an error like this. I don't blame anyone for it - it's a software bug. I know there is a lot of excitement with reaching 100,000 posts - I share it, so I forgive the enthusiasm of those who want to get that count up there. Unfortunately, the software here seems to know what is best for us I guess.

And the post count dropped because I had to empty out the Recycle Bin to get rid of the corrupted thread.
