Title: SemperFi
Post by: loneleeb3 on June 26, 2007, 07:43:39 am
Has anyone seen this Movie?
It is fantastic!
It is a bout a man, Jeff Key, who joins the Military after 9/11.
He turned his experience into a one man show called "The Eyes of Babylon".
The movie Semper Fi is about him and his preforming his show to his family and friends.
The show talks about his feelings and reasons for joining the Military and how he became disillusioned.
Why am I mentioning it do you ask? Well, Jeff is gay.
It adds a whole new dimension to the story. It was amazing to see sopmeone who was raised as I was and how he turned out.
I just wish I had had the courage to come out at a much younger age like he did.

Thanks for telling us about this, I'll check it out. Somebody was asking the other day whether there was a movie where the main character was gay, but the movie was not about being gay. Maybe this is a good example. Also, I suggest "Little Miss Sunshine."
Any others?

I liked Little Miss Sunshine because the gay character was presented as a fairly normal person. Entirely believable.

Another one that should have won.

Thanks Leeb, I had heard about him, but did not know about the movie. Will go to netflickes right now.

I just thought about Little Miss Sunshine, which I liked a lot, the other day while watching a 1975 movie called Smile, a satire of American teen beauty pageants.   It's worth seeing as well.
