Sounds like a fun day, David! We aren't going to have our usual family BBQ this year, but hope it resumes next year.
Well.......I think I am going to fix my lawn mower and mow my backyard.
Then maybe my cousin and I will take her little boy to a movie and out to eat. Last---if the mosquitoes (our state bird) are not too bad--I will shoot off some fireworks for him out in the country!

And I'm hopin' we have have a Fourth of July 1000th resident to welcome!!
I guess you will wear eau de OFF for the fireworks tomorrow nite, huh?) :P [/b][/color]
Are ya gonna have earplugs for Cody? You may have taken him before and he's fine. But I took my Yorkie a couple of years ago to watch fireworks over the lake at Heber Springs, AR---very pretty over the lake, by the way. She's always laid back---kinda like "whatever", but she went berserk when the fireworks started. I had to put her under my t-shirt and hold her ears. I guess it was the noise, even tho she doesn't react at all when we hear them inside the house. So you might want to take earplugs if he's never been before. Cody probably won't fit under your shirt. ;)
Good luck repelling the mosquitoes!! :P
Oh yeah---New Orleans. Swamps. Lake Ponchartrain. I bet they are as bad or worse there! That's close to where my ex-husband lives---with his new wife--Slidell.
We have a race around the neighborhood. I was planning to be in it but had to bow out because my feet are too sore from hiking this past weekend. I will only have to wear red and white today...my blue toes will complete the color scheme!! Then I am putting up a display of wildflowers at the neighborhood clubhouse where we have a BBQ, a dj and the works. After that I will probably head to town and spend the afternoon with Brokie friends and maybe go to see Ratatouille. Winding up the evening with fireworks watching, of course!!
Yes, international Brokies can vote as well!!
Of course there were no fireworks whatsoever, but I still celebrated in style of the day. I made an America-box for my BIL. The one who is such a huge fan of the US. Filled with gifts I bought for him on my last two US trips.

Was it his birthday?
He had asked for a newspaper from the exact date and totally happy when he got it now. :)
Yes, he was one of the three people celebrating their 50th birthday. His actual birthday was already back in January while I was in NYC. He had asked for a newspaper from the exact date and totally happy when he got it now. :)
I'm thinking it's going to be a quiet fourth here as well. No real plans made, just relaxing and keeping cool.
Sounds good, Chuck. I also do the opposite of what everybody else is doing during the holidays. Yesterday I had all 3 grandchildren over for a sleepover and so I'm taking it easy today. If I manage to do a nap, then maybe I'll walk down to the park for fireworks.
I simply can not do a patriotic/political holiday this year. I'd be glad to spend it by myself, walking over to the park to see the fireworks and munching on some kimchi and BBQ'd Korean pork. Somehow, I don't think that's going to happen.
