Title: Are you left-handed or right-handed?

I'm primarily left-handed, but use scissors with my right hand, since right-handed scissors were all I had growing up.

BTW, we noticed a lot of leftie Brokies at the Alberta trip.l

I drive with my left hand. Does that sound weird? I steer with my left hand, but I think that's because I've driven a stick shift car for so long. I also eat with my left hand. I brush my hair with my left hand and sometimes I operate scissors with my left hand too. :D

Funny how much you do with the opposite of your writing hand, same for me. I use my right hand to use scissors, serve in volleyball, and assorted other things. It's almost like the only thing I do with my left is write. Hmmmm....

Oh, and I control the computer mouse with my right hand. For the first years, my husband and I fought about the "correct" side for the mouse. Since he used it much more often and business-wise by then, I finally gave up and now am used to it.

I've never thought about that until I read your post. That would be hard for me--to control the mouse with the opposite of my writing hand. You adapted well, huh? It takes me forever to get comfy with a different computer---and when someone wants me to check something or do something for them--they gotta get up. If I'm not in the usual position, my perception is off. :P

That was sweet of you to let your husband keep it on the right side! :)

God Kerry, I've been sitting here trying to imagine shifting gears with my left hand and I don't think I could do it. I'm so used to shifting with my RIGHT hand. I probably shouldn't rent a stick shift car if I ever travel to Australia.

But my boyfriend is from England and he's driven my car while visiting me. He's probably used to shifting with his left hand too. I'm impressed! :D

It was really interesting; I could almost feel the synapses rewiring themselves in my head. Now I can do a lot of things with either hand, including (TMI warning) getting my sweetie off. No complaints so far . . .

My late maternal grandfather, who was naturally left-handed and had a brilliant mind, was forced into right-handedness as a child too. Just barbaric.

I have memories of having my left hand tied down so that I was forced to write with my right hand. Of course once the binding was removed I resorted to what was natural for me.

Maybe he's looking for some place warm to take his chill off, Kerry! Maybe he's tired of floating around on ice chunks and he's ready to trade it all in for some swaying palm trees and soft fluffy sand! ;) :D

I think you might've hit on something there, David. Bundaberg Rum sure will warm him up! But not before it knocks his little cotton sox clean off and leaves him with a major headache in the morning! :laugh:

HI DAVID! Nice to see that I'm remembered! ;D

Had massive PC troubles. Didn't have my laptop for 3 months. Got it back last week, but it's still not okay and I lost ALL my data (pictures, docs.. etc! >:( >:(), but I do have internet again. But there's still a bug ..

Lots of other stuff since May. Got a new job. Started the week-end after wrapping up work in my previous job. Quite exhausting, but the new job is good!

Hope to be around on BM again more often!

Good question :o I really have no idea but maybe it would depend on the severity and if while in the 'other' persona, if you would mantain physical habits and such.

Interesting question but no, if one can use both hands equally they are classified as 'ambidexterous'. Hand preference is lateralized early during brain development (research shows typically before or by the age of 4), and has nothing to do with bipolar disorder. Bipolar disorder is a mental illness, with the most prevalent theories highlighting a chemical imbalance in the brain and a strong genetic component.

But in my case, since teacher hit ALWAYS a ruler on me when I used my left to write and forced me therefore to write right, and now I use BOTH hands, would that not make me bi-polar... possibly, BECAUSE of the TRAUMA I suffered?

What do you think?
