I was thinking about "Cheers" today and laughing.
I remember once Carla put an ad in the paper and someone suggested she should lie about herself...
"Oh sure I could say I am six foot, blonde with tatas til Tuesday. But how do I explain when they meet me?"
and after she walked off Cliff said
"I don't understand...she has tatas til Monday afternoon at least!"

-
Diane in a moment of exasperation:
"I'd rather be the love slave of an entire Greek army battalion!"
Carla's ex husband:
"Wouldn't we all? But dreaming gets you NO WHERE!"

I watched Cheers when it was new Jess, but I haven't seen very many episodes since it went to re-runs. So, I can't think of any favorite lines. But I always loved Woody. He had some of the funniest lines from the show. :D
-
Sam was flirting with some college girls...Diane told him:
"You could make love to everyone of those girls and I would feel nothing....and neither would they!!"

Woody was funny...you remember his girlfriend? The rich blonde?

Cliff was rattling on as he does and stopped
"Is it just me or is this getting weird?"
"You passed weird six months ago, Cliff"
"now you are boldly going where no man has gone before"
-
I loved Cheers. I don't remember the exact lines son I took these from IMDb.
Sam: What's new, Normie?
Norm: Terrorists, Sam. They've taken over my stomach and they're demanding beer.
------------------------
Diane: Oh no. The thing I feared most has happened.
Carla: What? Your Living Bra died of boredom?
-------------------------
Woody: Kelly's coming back from Europe today.
Frasier: Ah, she's hopping the pond.
Woody: What?
Frasier: Well, the pond. It's a reference to the Atlantic.
Woody: Why, Dr. Crane. The Atlantic is an ocean. How many of those have you had?
Frasier: Apparently, not enough.
-
Cliff:
"I wouldn't throw her out of bed for eating crackers!"
Carla
"Why else would she be there?"

One of my faves!
Carla was SO mean!

Yes, I think I remember her. She was only in a few episodes though, wasn't she? She was Woody's girlfriend from back home if I remember correctly.

No. She was the daughter of some prominent man from Boston. A senator or something, I don't remember. She was as naive as Woody was.
-
when she came back from Europe she had that French guy with her...and he was always threatening to 'steal your girlfriend'...
he said they played 'shower rescue'
now THERE is a game I could get into.... ;D :-X

"Howzit goin', Normie?"
"It's a dog eat dog world, and I'm wearin' Milk Bone underwear."
-
"How's life treating you, Norm?"
"Like it caught me in bed with it's wife"
-
No. She was the daughter of some prominent man from Boston. A senator or something, I don't remember. She was as naive as Woody was.
She was? I guess I don't remember her then. I thought I remembered Woody's girlfriend from back home visiting him in Boston. I must be thinking of a different show.
Maybe I'm thinking of Wings, which was a spinoff from Cheers. :D

Oh wait a minute! I think I remember this deal now. Didn't they have a wedding and someone died just before it started? The priest maybe? And they tried to hide to body in the kitchen or something? I remember a very funny wedding episode.

This is just from memory, so I may be paraphrasing a bit:
Frasier's conversation with blind-date bimbo:
Bimbo in teeny-tiny baby voice: My name is Candi - with an "i" - I changed it so people would take me more seriously. You know, like Gandhi.
Frasier: Yes, I heard that's why he did it, too.
;D

Some of the Cheers writers and directors also wrote and directed Wings. :)
George Wendt and John Ratzenberger both appeared in one episode of Wings (The Story of Joe (1990)) as Norm and Cliff.
Edit: Kelsey Grammer and Bebe Neuwirth also appeared in a Wings episode (Planes, Trains and Visiting Cranes (1992)) as Fraiser and Lilith. :D

That DOES ring a bell, about them being in that airport. I loved Wings. And now I love Steven Weber.
Lee, sorry for my chopped liver post. It doesn't look as funny as I meant it to be when I wrote it. No worries. {{{Lee}}}

"What are you up to, Norm?"
"My ideal weight, if I was seven feet tall."

Yes. I remember some of the writers saying they really tried to keep a "Cheers" look and feel when they created "Wings". Helen's lunch counter always reminded me of the Cheers bar a little bit. I suppose that's why.
Also, both shows take place in Massachusetts; Cheers in Boston, and Wings in Nantucket. Maybe I shouldn't have said it was a spin-off from Cheers, but rather the two shows are closely related to each other. But there ARE a few common bonds that link the two shows together, and I think the writers were trying to point that out when some of the Cheers characters appeared in a couple of the Wings episodes. :D

Yeah, I like Steven Weber too. I've also been a big Timothy Daly fan for a long time. He was so cute in Wings. He's still very good looking. Tim will be starring in a new show this Fall called "Private Practice". I can't wait to see it! :)
Okay. Back to the Cheers lines now! Sorry about that Jess. I'm not trying to hijack your thread here!
I love reading all these funny quotes from the show. They are very funny!
