A British psychologist, Richard Wiseman, claims that nobody is born lucky, which begs the question:
What!... not even Kylie Minogue? (http://bestsmileys.com/surprised/4.gif)
So do YOU consider yourself a lucky person? (http://bestsmileys.com/oneofakind/3.gif)

I voted "Definitely," but it would probably be more accurate to say that I was fortunate, rather than lucky. :D
The very fact alone that I was born in this blessed country, Australia, makes me feel very fortunate, indeed! :D

I feel very lucky at times!

Sure, there have been times I've felt very lucky indeed, but I wouldn't characterize most of my life as lucky. And I definitely feel I have had my share of bad luck.
Philosophically, I don't put too much stock in the concept of 'luck'. I think everything that happens in our lives happens for a reason, and in fact I think we will it into existence, for the sheer pleasure of experiencing it. Thus, I'm a lot closer to the idea of 'fate' over 'luck'. But the feeling of luck, both good and bad, is certainly one part of most people's lives.

And she can never seem to find a decent guy... micheal hutchenson was one and then that french guy that cheated on her.

I meant those of us who can afford computers are far better off than many, many people in the world, in terms of material goods, nutrition, health care, safety, clean water, etc.

LUCKY???? With the childhood I had?? No F***ing Way!
What I am is tenacious, persistant, stubborn and determined to overcome the great difficulties I've had in life. So, ok, yeah, I guess anyone blessed with that amount of self determination might be lucky... So, I didn't think I was when I was younger, but I got a little luck in me, yeah...
Wow, I never talked myself out of something so quickly before!

This certainly makes sense to me...thank you for clarifying.

I once went into a phone booth and found $1500 cash in an envelope left in a notebook with other personal papers including a checkbook that someone had left there. I was unemployed and having car trouble at the time. I needed the money badly, but was with a close friend who helped me do the right thing: Get guy's # off a check and call him. Which I did. I gave it all back....
Was I lucky?
Yeah, lucky to have a genuine friend who helped keep me honest! Now, that's fortunate! The guy who lost it was a student. He'd taken his entire savings out of the back to get a car for school. He was so happy, he gave me $100, which I took, gladly, thanking him. We were both happy and lucky too.
End of tale.. and would that tales told were all so lucky, eh?

I have had many things happen to me that are not lucky but then many things that are.
I was lucky enough to be born in a western industrialized country. I have no chronic illness or pain. **knocks wood** I've never had a bad accident. **knocks wood** When I've had car trouble it's always been in a safe area where I can get help readily vs. in the middle of no where.
I'm sure I'll never be win the lottery lucky though. Who are those people????!!!!

Rayn, I know how what happens to you in childhood will be with you for the rest of your life. You sound pretty tough though. :) Keep it up. :)
