Title: Chalk Drawings
Post by: Shasta542 on October 10, 2007, 07:19:19 pm
Here are some fun drawings to view!  :)

Julian Beever has made pavement drawings for over ten years. He has worked in the U.K., Belgium, France, The Netherlands, Germany, the USA and Australia.

The pavement drawings have included both renderings of old masters plus a wealth of original inventive pieces of work.

Beautiful works of art. I especially loved Diana and Elizabeth I. Thank you for sharing them with us Shasta.  :D

There was another chalk drawing in the metro newspaper today:

and from a different angle

It looks comfortable – until you try to sit on it, that is.

The sofa and table in Kurt Wenner's latest visual illusion appears to be real... unless you walk a little farther round the scene and see they are actually flat.

The puzzling work has been intriguing commuters since it was unveiled yesterday at Waterloo station.

Mr Wenner, who claims to have invented 3D street painting, uses a system of geometry inspired by the technique classical painters used to create the sense of height in frescoed ceilings.

Using only pastels, the artist spent several days setting up the masterpiece of deception.

A former illustrator for Nasa creating images of future space missions, Mr Wenner created a 23m-long (75ft) mural of Michelangelo's Last Judgment in Mantua, Italy.

Pope John Paul II signed the work and pronounced it Sacred Art. In contrast, Sky TV commissioned his latest work for an ad campaign.

Must break the artist's heart to see people walk on their work and have the rain wash it away.  :'(

IMHO the image of Queen Elizabeth I should definitely be in a frame, not on a pavement. It's brilliant!  :D

That is truly amazing art.  And so selfless.  To create something that you know is only going to have
a very short lifespan..is a very wonderful thing...that is a true artiste

WOW!  It's fantastic!  I might pop down to London just to see it!

That would be cool, Susie! How far is London from you?

Wonderful! Thanks!

I was an exhibitor at an exhibition like that, 3 years ago. Loved it!

Those are trompe-l'oeil, which is presenting like realism but the eye is faked... each is an illusion!

I create illusions in  each of my paintings!

More please...

hugs!
