Phillip started Brokeback Mountain Radio in February 2006. Since then the playlist has expanded to over 18+ hours of music and over 300 tracks playing at any given time. Most songs that were added to the playlist over time have held up, while others didn't do so well, and were taken out of rotation. The station saw it's all time highest ratings in March 2007 (http://bettermost.net/forum/index.php/topic,9064.0.html).
And now, it's time for you to tell us your all-time favorite Brokeback Mountain Radio songs/tracks. Which songs can you still listen to over and over? Which songs "defined" the radio station? Which songs meant the most to you? Which songs captured the essence of Brokeback Mountain?
Tell us! :D

Well for me personally. The music from the cd and movie. are still the ones I cling to..
As I said on the other thread..The riding horses, is the most significant one of all. It made me go out and hunt for two days, for the cd..That music haunted me. It represented the movie to me.
All of it. The highs and the lows...It is simply one of the most breathtaking pieces of music I have ever heard...
Of the newer ones Hotel Room is my favorite...Its perfect for that scene and time as well.
I personally have a emotional connection with all the music I love. So as all of you, I am sure it
evokes a time and place. Some wonderful..some not so. but either way, a part of our life...
I have particular fondness also for Who Wants to Live Forever
Making memories of us.
Live like you were dying. (which i try to live by)
I love all the songs about Chris LaDoux also
Once in a lifetime love.

I also love the music from the Soundtrack and my two favorites are The Wings and the music from the 2nd tent scene. Also, I love the music from the flashback. Of the non-Gustavo songs, my favorites are Desperado, by Linda Ronstadt, and Coyote, from the soundtrack of Grizzly Man. I have listened to these countless times but they still give me chillls whenever I hear them.
Thanks for the opportunity to vote on these, Eric!

I love Change by Tracy Chapman too.
I think this song would be a good one For the station.
I think this would really speak to Ennis' heart!
Change
If you knew that you would die today,
Saw the face of God and love,
Would you change?
Would you change?
If you knew that love can break your heart
When you're down so low you cannot fall
Would you change?
Would you change?
How bad, how good does it need to get?
How many losses? How much regret?
What chain reaction would cause an effect?
Makes you turn around,
Makes you try to explain,
Makes you forgive and forget,
Makes you change?
Makes you change?
If you knew that you would be alone,
Knowing right, being wrong,
Would you change?
Would you change?
If you knew that you would find a truth
That brings up pain that can't be soothed
Would you change?
Would you change?
How bad, how good does it need to get?
How many losses? How much regret?
What chain reaction would cause an effect?
Makes you turn around,
Makes you try to explain,
Makes you forgive and forget,
Makes you change?
Makes you change?
Are you so upright you can't be bent?
If it comes to blows are you so sure you won't be crawling?
If not for the good, why risk falling?
Why risk falling?
If everything you think you know,
Makes your life unbearable,
Would you change?
Would you change?
If you'd broken every rule and vow,
And hard times come to bring you down,
Would you change?
Would you change?
If you knew that you would die today,
If you saw the face of God and love,
Would you change?
Would you change?
Would you change?
Would you change?
If you saw the face of God and love
If you saw the face of God and love
Would you change?
Would you change?

Mamma!!
You forgot "Please Remember Me" by Tim McGraw! :o
-
In no particular order:
Complete soundtrack of BBM
Please remember me by Tim McGraw
My old friend - Tim McGraw
Everything I own - Bread (I think nobody has mentioned this one so far; I L O V E it)
Wyoming Skies
Not a day goes by - Lonestar
Desperado - Eagles (and only by the Eagles! Edtit: nope, not true; I also like the German version by Udo Lindenberg))
Can't cry hard enough
Two Cowboy Walz - Mark Weigle
Cowboys are frequently, secretly - Willie Nelson
Far Away - Nickleback (still one of my absolute favs; how happy were the times when it was a hit and played regularly at my local radio station))
A Cowboy's born with a broken heart
Streets of Laredo
A song that tells the story of an involuntarily bull rider; he was listed to the wrong event at a rodeo, and in the end says "never again" (something along this line). I can't remember title or artist right now. (perhaps Chris LeDoux?)
Edit:Yup. Sure is Chris LeDoux, and the song's title is Bull Rider.
Song of Wyoming
Coyotes (this one took me a while to get used to, at first I didn't like it much, but now I do)
Always on a mountain when I fall
Hal Ketchum - Past the Point of Rescue
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I'm sure there are more which I can't think of right now.
What I don't like are the instrumental ones (except for the soundtrack). I think of Bruce Kaphan and similar things (Hamrock? Hammock) here.
And I was happy to see the old BBM radio icon in your post. I really miss it. I like it ten times more than the current one.
Thank you for this poll Eric :-*
-
I have to defend the instrumentals! Particularly Bruce Kaphan & Hammock! I don't like only them exclusively but find they really add to the variety of the music and you can just let your thoughts wander to an instrumental in a way you can't when there are vocals in a song. I think the slide guiatar tracks suit certain aspects of Ennis down to a tee.
-
My two favorite instrumentals:
Bruce Kaphan's "Outpost"
Joe Euro's "Then They Were Gone"
I remember it being around March 2006 and having just then discovered Phillip's BBM Radio, and the latter track started playing, and tears just rolled down my face....
-
More favorites (if I continue, I'll end up posting the whole songlist ::)).
Rascal Flats: What hurts the most (OMG, how could I forget this the first time round? This one belongs right on top of all my favs, together with Bread))
Snow Patrol: Chasing Cars
Gordon Lightfoot: If you could read my mind
Glen Campell: Gentle on my mind (I hadn't heard this song in years before I started listening to BBM radio, love it)
Beck: Lost Cause
Garth Brooks: A Friend to me
John Denver: Annie's Song (I know, it's a bit worn-out, but still a fav)
-
I love Rascal Flats, What Hurts The Most - it seems like that song was made for this move! Actually I printed out the lyrics and have them taped onto my refrigerator next to a picture of Ennis & Jack. I also love Snow Patrol, Chasing Cars, and also love Nick Lachey - What's Left of Me. All of these songs reduce me to tears every time, time after time!
-
