I'd rather see a hot guy wearing nothing at all around the pool, but since that wasn't an option I voted for a thong.  :D

Board shorts or nothin, for me.

Board shorts! - Sometimes not showing a lot is sexier than showing too much!  Those pictures of Jake in his shorts are HOT!!!

What the heck is the difference between a "sunga" and a bikini?  ???

Jake makes the board shorts, the board shorts don't make Jake.

Board shorts are an abomination.

Thongs are stupid.

I agree that a little left to the imagination is very sexy, but I don't care for board shorts either.  Most men wear them so loose that once they get wet they're doing the plumber's bum look anyway and that's distasteful on anyone IMO.  I like a nice 3 or 4 inch brief, shows his assets off nicely without being too revealing.

I voted for thong based on the present models.
I wonder if the poll would vary greatly if the
models were changed to guys over 50?

Tell you what, I think, to be fair and balanced, someone needs to start a poll about women's swimwear.  ;)

If the guy is very hot, 3" briefs are it.

Where is that hot hot hot photo of our new James Bond Daniel Craig in his suit? [drool]

Board shorts are ridiculous, IMO, no man looks good in them - including Jake - unless they're drenched, hanging extremely low and about to fall off of him.  Men might as well be back in the 19th century wearing full wool bathing suits in the water wearing so much fabric in the water.

Board shorts. All the pics were OK except the thong. May as well just go naked.

Eeeeuw!  Thongs are manky ....... Blaaaaaah! :P

I like to see a well toned man in board shorts ... it shows that he's not trying too hard!  Not to mention they look really sexy!

Susie  ;D

Susie I completly agree with you. I think thongs are among the worst things ever invented. They look dreadful. And speedos are just GROSS. ewwwwwww.  The do nothing for me atall. Like the pics of Jake, but I prefer pics of Hugh on the beach...............*sigh*. Mind you, he could wear a paper bag and he,d still look like sex on legs to me. ;)

TampaTalon, I'm only 42, and I said a guy that's in shape should wear as little as possible, but I myself would wear boardshorts, and a big oversized T-shirt.  And if anyone asked why I was being so modest, I'd say my skin is fair and I don't want to burn.

Gary

Good reasoning Gary, I had mentioned the over 50 bit because though a dude is in shape over 50 from personal experience things are shaped a little different. I guess I am a little to fashion concerned here. I would af course perfer the dude any age nekked  :)

Okay, maybe a thong is a bit extreme, but 50% of you are voting for board shorts?  What's with that?  This thread is being invated by Victorians.

I remember when basketball shorts were short and form fitting, and now boys may as well be wearing knee-length skirts.  I remember when jeans were tight and revealed a guy's package.  Now a guy could haul around a tool box in his pants and you wouldn't be able to tell.  What's wrong with the male form?  Why do you people want to cover it up?  Bloody prudes.   ;D

Gary

Who the hell is he? I meant Hugh Jackman. NO ONE has a body like his...........NO ONE. It,s just not possible for any guy to look as good on a beach as he does. And Daniel Craig is GROSS, clothed or unclothed, ewwwwwww. Don,t like Brad Pitt either, yuk.

Daniel Craig "gross"? Oh, for goodness' sake. OK, he might have a face like Vladimir Putin, but there isn't a thing wrong with that body.

I just don't get it. Don't you folks realize that Jake, Brad, Hugh, et al. look good in board shorts because they are Jake, Brad, Hugh, et al.? Their appearance in board shorts is not an argument for board shorts over racing-type suits. Why do you all want to see these guys in ... bloomers?

What garycottle said. ... Usually, when I see a guy in anything baggy, be it jeans, fatigues, or swim trunks, my assumption is that he's hiding the fact that Mother Nature shortchanged him. ...
Title: Re: Male Swim Wear
Post by: serious crayons on October 31, 2007, 09:59:16 am
I assume when I see a guy in board shots, baggy jeans, etc. that he is aware of current clothing trends. That's the style for men now, which is why I think those things look cooler at the moment. I'm fashion-conscious -- so sue me.

Speedos and other tight short styles strike me as the equivalent of seeing a guy going around shirtless when everybody else is fully clothed. If he's got a good body, great, that's nice. But there's something about it that seems too show-offy to me.

Now THATS more like it. Absolutly GORGEOUS. Would be nice if that towel slipped a bit though. ;)
And Jeff, sorry to disagree but IMO, there is nothing remotely nice about Daniel Craigs body. I stand by what I said...yuk. Now Hugh on the other hand.........................*THUD*. :-*

Well Daniel Craig is not pretty like Hugh Jackman but his body is as nice IMO.  BUT that is the beauty of this world we live in, there is someone for everyone, and everyone will be viewed as attractive by someone... I think that's lovely.

So cheers to Hugh and Hugh, and Brad, and Daniel and of course Jake as well as the countless other handsome men out there from this ardent male admirer.

Now, now, let Siouxi be, there's no accounting for taste.  ;)

Yes, Daniel Craig may not have a lovely mug, but he doesn't have to be a pretty boy.  There's plenty of room for pretty boys and manly men.  Ryan Phillippi's pretty pretty face just looks vapid in comparision.  No wonder he and Reese broke up, they probably fought over the mirror in the morning.

Now I love Jake dearly, but his body is not on my top 10 list of hot bodies.  When he's really cut, yes, when he's not, he's just alright and board shorts make his body look like a tree trunk and not in a good way.

Well then, how about this for fightin words: I don't think Ryan Phillipe is very attractive! Period. I mean, let Reese have the mirror.

Now, Ryan Gosling is a different story. Though I've heard that he's gotten chubby, apparently (?) for a part. Guess he'd better keep his board shorts on, for now.

Daniel Craig is not bad. Not exactly pretty, but interesting.

Hey, ineedcrayons, watch what you say about my boy Ryan.    I've had a crush on him for years.  And yes, I happen to like pretty boys, but I also admire Ryan.

He sure is pretty, and the older I get, the more I seem to like to look at pretty boys.  :-\

As for admire, however, apparently, he's an alley cat, can't keep it in his pants (see: divorce from Reese Witherspoon).  :(

Hey, ineedcrayons, watch what you say about my boy Ryan.     I've had a crush on him for years.  And yes, I happen to like pretty boys, but I also admire Ryan.  At the very young age of 18, back in 92, he played the first recurring gay character in the history of American daytime TV.  He played Billy Dougles, a young man just coming to terms with his sexuality, on the ABC soap One Life to Live.  Nearly every week day that summer I tuned in hoping that his story would be featured in that day's episode, and when I was away from home when the show was on, I'd tape it.

Sorry, Gary. To each his/her own. I didn't know about Ryan's soap background. It's interesting and, as you say, admirable.

I have nothing against pretty boys myself (hey, before I noticed he was boring as an actor, I thought Orlando Bloom was hot). I just don't happen to think Ryan is pretty. But that's me. It's lucky people have different tastes, or there would be only one movie star.*

*Instead of the six that there really are, if you believe the covers of tabloid magazines these days (Brad, Angelina, Jen, Tom, Katie and Lindsay).

i KNOW I was the first person to make a comment here. but its not there....Hemh?

I agree with Katherine..Its all about fashion, and I dont really want a bunch of fat guys

walking around in thongs or bikinis.  Just not the best...Not everyone on the pool area is

a runway model...some people I have seen would cover up the suit, with blubber... Who

needs that..Now if they all look like movie stars,, then fine. a short suit is ok.

OK, I am willing to bend a little.

If a guy has bird-legs, then yes, he needs board shorts.  ;D

I think we're getting crossed wires on Ryan Philippi and Ryan Gosling.  Or at least I lost track.

Maybe this is strip golf.   ;D  And if so, that would mean someone finally came up with an idea that makes golf exciting.   :P

True, that's about the only thing that would.

On my way to the store tonight, I was imagining the phone call.

Photog: Hugh, we're going to have you wearing a towel.

Hugh: No problem. Where will I be? Stepping out of the shower? In a steam room? Next to a hot tub?

Photog: Well, actually, Hugh, you'll be at ... the golf course.

Hugh:  ??? :o  ???

Photog: Bring your nine-iron.

I'd love to end this with a joke about bringing his wood, but I don't really know all the golf-club names.

Gees I just found this poll...voted....and then find that I am the only one who voted for 2" bikini.

They are what we call "Speedos".  Over here in Oz all the surf life savers wear speedos.

I must admit though, they only look good if they have a nice chest and six pack tummy. Nothing looks worse than a paunch hanging over them.

Truth is a good body looks good in any swimwear.

Well I have just had a lovely half hour going through this thread. I am now very confused so I did not vote. I guess if really pushed though, for any of the guys who make me weak, i.e Heath, Hugh J and Pierce Brosnan, it would be the board shorts.

I love the line of hair that goes from the tummy button down, and if the shorts have slipped so as to reveal only a glimpse of what may lie below, then so much the better. The amazing cover that Heath did on one magazine, can't remember which, where his jeans are slipping so as to just reveal, that glimpse are for me far more sexy than getting the whole lot at once. Ditto the pictures of Heath in board shorts.

I have a very active magination, so if it is someone I will never see naked, then leave a little something for me to fill in !!!!

I am odd though I know, I also love just a glimpse of a  slim wrist revealed by a shirt cuff, and long slim fingers send me into a frenzy.

It is as they say, horses for courses.

I´m with you 100%, Fiona!

Board shorts + treasure trail =  8)

Yeah right and I believe in father Xmas and the tooth fairy.  I never knew it was called that,  but it certainly is a happy trail.

Hmmm think I might go and dig out those photos of Heath, board shorts and "happy trail"

Board shorts! - Sometimes not showing a lot is sexier than showing too much!  Those pictures of Jake in his shorts are HOT!!!

I gotta agree with ya.

I think a guy in board shorts is just tooooo cute!

I don't want to see my guy in a thong or anything revealing.  ::)  Let me unwrap it at home!  ;D
