I just received my teeny tiny genuine Hohner harmonica (thank you Jenny!!). It is so small, and has a keychain attachment, which I will attach to my keyring immediately so I can begin annoying everyone I meet as soon as possible.
Amazing that it actually plays. I can wait 'till it gets a little scratched and dented, just like Jack's. I played a few notes at the written command of dear Jenny (who enclosed it in a color pic of Jack's playing harmonica to Ennis by the campfire), and my cat was startled quite severely. She stayed for a short concert, and then ran away, as any intelligent creature would at hearing me play harmonica.
I think each of us simply must have one of these. This is such a perfect keepsake of our BBM experience, and unlike a t-shirt, you can have it with you always. Wherever you take your keys you can take this.
I'm just so delighted, I'm grining like an idiot... ;D

Ok, I'm convinced! How do I go about getting one of these??? :)

It sounds great, YaadPie. What are the dimensions?

Jenny, I didn't see harmonicas on your site, so I went to Hohner's....

That's it exactly fernly - the Little Lady. So tiny and cute, and yet plays perfectly. Jenny doesn't sell them - she just was kind enough to find one for me. But maybe if we ask really nicely!
-
Sounds nice! You can show it to me tomorrow! ;D

Yeah - but the hallway outside is a mess. Somebody was throwing cream pies around...just awful.
-
*rolls eyes but tries to be patient*
So sorry, that'd be Ray. He's "house-trained", you see, but although we're working on his "hallway training", he has accidents from time to time...

OMG--see what I get for not checking in for two whole box--days, I mean! I got my CDs yesterday too Celeste!! Thanks a million. More in a PM.
I'm so glad my little harmonica ventures have spread such joy near and far...I also sent one to Keren/ELJ, but so far she has not received it!! >:( :( :'( and it's been two weeks!
I will DEFINTELY be posting the harmonica tab, as it's called, for the Cat Stevens song, If You Want to Sing Out, Sing Out. It's almost finished being transcribed by yours truly.
For the record, I've been up to my armpits in various tasks that have kept me away (laundry, job applications, and proposals for workshops) but I miss you all, and will be back real soon....Thursday latest.
happy harmonicizing!!
Jenny
p.s. Celeste, you must break in the instrument slowly--don't blow too hard on the high notes for a while, just gently, and they'll eventually sound good. They have a low startle point, apparently ;D

Hard or gentle, Jenny, my cat HATES the direction I'm going with any of the notes!

1 5/16" long, 1/2" wide, 3/8" deep (3.5mm long, 1.3mm wide, 1mm deep). Soooooooo adorably teeny tiny!
(Of course for all you non-Americans, I'm willing to consider that I've got my measurements screwed up.)

OMG Anke! Does your husband enjoy those?
-
Great pics Anke! ;)
It might be less intimidating for me if I started out with a tiny harmonica though..lol! ;D
[Like your pic said.."these blow-jobs" work better if you start small and move on to bigger things.. ::) ::) :P]

Here's a great place to order the Hohner Little Lady harmonica, and they're on sale for $7.95 US right now for anyone who just must have one.
They are shorter that an average door key!

I've ordered A pin, which says "Horner" on it, and I can't find a bracelet--I'd LOVE a bracelet. Since there's only one thing I ever wear around my neck, there's no point--it's a little Buddhist protective spirit in ivory,m with fangs and three eyes set in gold with an opal, and i've had it for 35 years..here it is--BOO! click to enlarge...

Can I perhaps be of any assistance ?? ;D ::) 8)
From your posts I knew you'd have a great horn Anke!

Hey y'all! I finally got mine too! Came Memorial Day weekend.
The orginal package Jenny sent arrived about 3 weeks+ late, and empty. With an apology from the USPS. They hope that the disappearance of the contents of my package didn't inconvenience me. OF COURSE it inconvenieced me, sheesh. Jenny kindly sent me another one, insured this time, and lo and behold it made it. The second coming, I call it.
I can't play it right now, 'cause I had some oral surgery on Friday and can't blow. Can't spit either, so I'd be an outcast in Wyoming right now.
I wanted to find more songs to play on my Little Lady then just the few on the www.harmonicanecklace.com site (http://www.harmonicanecklace.com site). After hours of arduous, intensive, and mostly fruitless searching (thank you Peter Gabriel), and emailing strangers on harmonica sites, I struck oil! For tab-hungry harmonica newbies like me, this is the place to go.This awesome guy posted tabs for a whole bunch of songs. He's got Dylan, Tom Petty, Elvis, even the Beatles. Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, anyone?

Scroll about halfway down. You'll see "misc tabs." Those are all harmonica tabs. Eleven pages of 'em. (What's wrong with you, there's a thousand of 'em!) Just click on the song title for the the tabs. Have fun!
P.S. The 4 holes on the Little Lady correspond to holes 4-7 on a full-size diatonic harmonica. So adjust the tabs accordingly. (i.e. if the tabs say 7, that's hole 4 on our mini-'monica. If the tabs say 5, that's hole 2 for us. )

Have the sound up before you click:

OOOH! I'm sooo ecstatically happy that my little idea to send the harmonica to Mandy after she won our bet about the script has blossomed into its own little movement of Little Lady lovers all over the place!
There's been something I've been meaning to post here buds, but it's been a sonofawhoreson bitch to get the words and notes to match up when I try to post it here (the harmonica tab for "If you want to sing out, sing out" by Mr. Cat Stevens)....so when I can, maybe next weekend, I will try again to post it. Sorry for the delay!
I just made some business cards online for my t-shirt store, b/c I am going to try to host a booth at the Brooklyn Pride event this weekend, and drum up some customers! Wish me luck.
I found a good harmonica tab site way back when but I don't know anymore. Looks like this 11 pager has got it covered.
Good job, little girl! (to ELJ that is)
;D
