SWEET JESUS! How upsetting... And they are so far away from Heath.. My heart goes out to them!
What a idiotic thing to do - I'm talking about the reporter's question at the end. How tactless! Shame on him!

Actually, the reporter was asking for the names of those appearing, which is actually a very important responsibility for the reporter, so they were doing what they needed to do. I also noticed the Australian press was far more subdued than our press is, and I sensed emotion from the reporters as well. Around here, nobody would have stopped peppering them with questions.

Still "Can I just ask who you are?" is a bloody crass way of putting it. If he'd said "Well if you don't know who we are, what are you doing here?" would have been a fitting answer.
"Would you mind telling us your names" would have been better. Or ask a neighbour or something - but they're in a hurry.
But how very kind of Ledger Sr to think of all of us just then!

Phillip, is there any way of knowing if his family is aware of this forum? They had such kind words for us, i'd be nice if we could give some back...

I think if he is buried in Australia, the funeral home handling the arrangements would be a way of geting messages to them.

There would be a fuineral home in the states that would take care of the handling of the body. Whichever Aussie funeral home would accept the body would more than likely put up an online condolence guest book. It would be all but impossible to get any messages to the family right now except rhough his official fan website maybe.

Janice has a link in her blog -- a guestbook link, I think. Not sure about who the host is.

I think that's a Cali based site. I'm sure his official website would have one if there is one.

I was really impressed with the family when I saw them on CNN last evening. They handled this short time in front of the press so well. I was really touched how after the statement was read and they tried to leave a reporter asked who they were. The mother said who they were and the dad stated their names. They were so gracious. What class they showed under this burden of grief. God bless them.

God, I know what you mean! How can you even ask that? Who else would they be? Jeezzz....
I really cannot believe what this must be like for them, they seemed to be in complete shock.
It says something about how reclusive Heath and his family were that I had never seen his father and mother before...
