Title: Can't let go
Post by: optom3 on February 18, 2008, 03:58:12 pm
I love Joan Armatrading and whilst plugged into my MP3 last night I thought how appropriate the lyrics to the song, Can't let go ,are for Jack.

I've tried hard to escape from this feeling of wanting you,
but I know you as well as I know myself.
And as hard as you try
to deny that you care for me
you know I can read what your lips wont say.

We can't stay close
we can't let go
what are we supposed to do.

We may argue and fight
and the tears run wild
but it's where we belong
in each others arms

can't stay close
cant let go
what are we supposed to do.

I guess the 1st line could also be Ennis to Jack, but the rest I just feel sums up what Jack could wish to cry out to Ennis.
I love the line , what your lips wont say ,as it just seems to so completely sum up how completely unable Ennis is to articulate his feeelings. We the audience are left to draw our own albeit obvious conclusions from every slight gesture and nuance.

Those are nice lyrics, I will see if I can get a copy.

That might be a good addition to Brokeback radio.

I'll look into the song for airplay.  :D

We also have a thread on the radio board to make suggestions for songs to play on the station.  It is here:
