So, next Tuesday, I am getting together with a fellow online brokie to have lunch. This is the first time I have met someone in person...pretty exciting, huh?
Tentative plan is to meet in Portsmouth NH or York ME. Fellow Brokie--Lisa--is driving up from the Waltham MA area. I'll be heading down from Portland.
If there is anyone else in the region who would like to join us, let me know. We could make it a party!
Also, the place has not been finalized...if anyone has restaurant suggestions for Portsmouth/York let me know. It's been a few years since I have gone out to eat down there and I am not up-to-date on what's good.

Hey, I did this kinda thing once. Didn't have to drive as far as you. This girl who posted on the same rock band fansite as I did and mentioned she was in South Florida turned out to be in Boca Raton, so we met for lunch at my favorite Mexican place down here. That was in 1995. I was just a bridesmaid (bridesmatron?) in her wedding a few months ago. Now if I could just get her to stop voting Republican and to see this movie... Oh, well. You can't have everthing. Where would you put it?
-
:) hey Leslie - can I meet with you two?? I absolutely love coastal Maine - my favorite place to be!! Ogunquit, York, Kennebunkport, Kittery - it's all good! You are so lucky to live there....................

Sure Judy...we'll set a place for ya...

Leslie, just FYI, I will be in the area (Bath/Georgetown to be exact) probably around July 4th--wanna recreate the fireworks scene with me?? Maybe not the beating up part, but the looking cool and tough with the backdrop of the fireworks?
Can't wait!

David, I'd love to have you come...according to Google maps, it's 153 miles from Hartford to Portsmouth...not an outrageous drive...

I am looking forward to meeting you, too--my other brokie friend, Lisa, is also reading my story so if nothing else, you two can try to wheedle the ending out of me... :D

ENDING!?! Noooooo! You are meant to continue writing the chapters Forever!!
I learned this on Sesame Street: every story has a beginning, middle, and an end...including mine.
But don't worry, Kelda, I have a bit more ground to cover before the end comes.
Guess ya like the story, huh?
-
I see the ending being after they are very old men. LOL. So you have many, many more chapters ahead of you Leslie! ;D

And laughing and laughing and laughing...
We had a grand old time. Lisa and David were there in their black Jack Twist hats, me (the token Heathen) kept the faith with my cowboy hat bracelet. We all met right on time at noon and immediately felt like best friends.
I have to say, for anyone planning a Brokie reunion, pick a restaurant with free WiFi and have someone bring a computer (I did). The internet serves as a good ice breaker...first we watched a video on YouTube with ALL OF THE BEST SCENES slowed down to Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get it On." After that, we looked at some of David's cowboy photos. Now we are getting friendly so we look at the "What have Heath and Jake got that we ain't got" thread. We also looked at Heath, Heath, Heath and Jake Jake Jake. By now we are all laughing hysterically and decide to review some of the juicier bits of the NC17 thread. Thank God for that! LOL
We talked, we laughed, we talked some more. You'd think we'd been friends for a lifetime. Lots of talk about how a movie and "pretend" people (even though we all know Jack and Ennis aren't really pretend) can change your life.
We decide to have an extra glass of wine for dessert, laugh some more...oh, did I tell you, both David and Lisa are fanfic fans and LOVE my story so of course I was showered with adoration which made me feel really really special....
I'm telling ya folks, 3 person mini-brokie event in New England was super special and we all missed ya...
Hugs,
L

Yeah, right. Not tall probably by NBA standard. 6'3" is TALL by my Asian standard. :)
Leslie,
Finally, I can put a face to your name. I know you have posted one, but guess that one is more about the car :). I am glad that you guys had such a fun time.

Seriously, I'm so glad you all had a wonderful day! Wish I coulda made a fourth!

Let's see...the menu:
Well, it was a brew pub so David had some kind of beer and I had some kind of beer. I think mine was Isle of Shoals India Pale Ale. Can't tell you what David had. Lisa had a glass of pinto grigio.
Then we had chicken tenders wth bbq sauce, calamari with 2 sauces, and black bean dip garnished with sour cream with nacho chips.
Another round of beers and a glass of wine for Lisa.
For lunch: David and Lisa had pizza margherita and I had a baby spinach salad with balsamic vinagrette.
One more glass of wine for dessert and then it was time to say, "See ya 'round, I guess."

G'morning Jeff!
True, I had thought about the "Jack in Black" look, but it was a warm day. I decided to go with the "Ennis" blue & white stripes but in short sleeves. I did wear my bolo tie, but I took it off too again as it was warm and I decided to go open collar. I really need a pair of cowboy boots! Maybe in time for next years "First Annual Brokie convention" in Denver that Leslie is organizing. ;)

Chris, I was there! I pulled up and leaned against my big Chrysler doing a "Jack Twist" pose. I told you to be outside your place waiting in the Jarhead Santas Hat outfit!
