Hey Friends!
Halloween is only about a month away!
And, we're throwing a costume party here at BetterMost online to celebrate.
So, get your costumes ready!
For the whole weekend of Halloween
Friday, October 31 through Sunday, November 2
We're encouraging folks to "dress up" by coming online those days with a new, surprising, super creative, and temporary:

We can't wait to see what folks come up with!

-
oooh! Sounds fun!!
-
What a great idea, Amanda! Super-creative, huh? I've never been very good at creative. I better start thinking now! :D
Marie
-
Thanks Kelda and Marie! :-*
Yeah, I bet this could be really fun! I hope we can encourage a lot of folks to participate!
-
Hey, I love costumes, I love decorating and I LOVE Halloween! This should be fun! :D
-
Hey, I love costumes, I love decorating and I LOVE Halloween! This should be fun! :D
;D I love costumes too! Halloween was always one of my favorite holidays as a kid. And, I always liked playing dress up with my friends, regardless of whether or not it was Halloween.
One of the fun things about an online costume party is that we can all come as whomever or whatever we want very easily! It will be really interesting to see what kinds of creative and innovative ideas people dream up for their costumes.
-
Oh, sounds like fun!
I'll be going to work in a costume that day. We all need to post pics of our costumes!

I've always loved the haunted houses around town. And YES they scare me...a lot!
But it's fun to let a strong cute guy know that so he'll try and act all macho in there in order to protect me.
It's very sexy! :D
Do you remember those wax harmonicas they used to sell when we were kids? They actually played music but you could bite off a piece and chew it like gum. Very sugary tasting. And appropriately they were made in the traditional Halloween colors of black and orange. Those were the days! :)
Every year the Children's Museum here in Indianapolis solicited all of us local kids to go knocking door to door for UNICEF. That was a lot of fun too, and everyone always donated. They provided us with a kit including donation forms, literature.... and candy for us!
I LOVE HALLOWEEN!!! :)
Oh, sounds like fun!

That sounds like fun! What are you going to dress up as that day Chuck? Will you tell us?

I'm thinking about going out as a "dark angel".
I figure if I throw together my black durango biker boots, black jeans, black tshirt, black leather jacket, and a set of black angel wings, and use some makeup to make my face paler, and add darkness around the eyes, it should give the effect I want.

Then you could say it got flattened when that mare threw you!!
The way things are going, I may have to come to the party as Not Dead Ned!!

17 more days to Halloween!

Very cool costume Sister Mod! 8)
I have some ideas in mind for mine. I'm getting excited about it! :)
We'll have a "costume parade" thread here in Social Events that will start close to Halloween weekend. Maybe this thread will turn into the costume parade actually. It'll be a place where folks can come and talk about their BetterMost costumes and reminisce about cool Halloween costumes from the past (when they were kids, etc.) and about their costume ideas in real life for this year, etc.

This was my costume last year.

Well, I decided to join the party a day or so early!

Milo - those are great!! Being opera-ignorant, I wiki-ed based on the photobucket picture names....It's Mozart's, The Magic Flute, right?
"The Queen of the Night represents a dangerous form of obscurantism, whereas her antagonist Sarastro symbolises the reasonable sovereign who rules with paternalistic wisdom and enlightened insight."
I'll believe that.
-
Heya Zombie.... um, I mean Chuck! ;D Great costume Friend!! :D I love the super spooky, shadowy hands in your signature line.
Oh thanks! The shadowy hands are from the commercial of the remake "Dawn Of the Dead" that was out a few years ago. The pic in the middle is a still from the original "Dawn Of The Dead".
-
Hey Friends!
I've put my costume on! My alter-ego this year is a Rodeo Queen who also has had a great career as a barrel racer. Of course, Lureen was quite the inspiration here... but also the women Lee and I saw compete in the barrel racing this July were amazing. And, well, the Rodeo Queen part is just for some kitschy fun.

I just wanna say that this Halloween thingie sounds pretty socialist to me.
All that redistributin' of the candy, just seems so un-American.
But, you know, I did egg Katie Couric's house tonight! Was that mavericky? You betcha!
-
I really wanted to wear the gorilla suit from the original (1964) 'The Pink Panther'--you know, the one that Robert Wagner wore?--but the gorilla suits in the Virtual Costume Shop were all taken.
So, I've taken this, from 'The Sound of Music' (1965)--no, not a nun outfit again, and not the von Trapp Children's curtains. What do you think? It's me, don't you think?
Baa!
-
Heya Palinator and Lonely Goatherd! Great costumes!!
I love the "Lonely Goatherd" song from "The Sound of Music"! :D When I was a kid I had pretty much every word and every song from that movie memorized. I loved musicals growing up.
Have y'all gone over to collect your candy yet? ;)
http://bettermost.net/forum/index.php/topic,29517.0.html (http://bettermost.net/forum/index.php/topic,29517.0.html)

I've also put my costume on :D.
My avatar:

My sigline: (http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m47/Penthesilea06/Sonstige/kidsd-icons-band-kuerbis-geister-he.gif)(http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m47/Penthesilea06/Sonstige/kidsd-icons-band-kuerbis-geister-he.gif)
And of course my Halloween name: I'm the wish witch ;D. I make wishes come true. But since I'm a witch, not a fairy, I choose what wishes to fulfill and what not (got an image to protect after all ;)). I only fulfill wishes for candy, and only in the Open Forum ;D.

I don't really know what my costume is. It's really late and I'm trying to finish a paper, so I just flipped my name and signature backwards, and my avatar upside down. I guess my costume is confused?
-
I've got my costume on too! This is fun! Everybody's costumes look great!! :D
BOOO!!!
Happy Halloween everyone!! :)

Happy Halloween!!!!!!!!!!
I'll be back to post pics of me in my costume at work.

No costume other than my "avatar costume" of hunky baseball world champion Phillie Pat Burrell, but here's my little contribution to Halloween, a link to "A Brokeback Mountain Ghost Story." :)

:D Great costume Zombie!!! I also quite enjoy seeing the BBM calendar by your desk! 8) :D
I'm sad to say, that I didn't wear a real life costume yesterday. :( So, my online Rodeo Queen get-up is my only costume this year.
Hey, I was wondering if anyone here caught the Greenwich Village costume parade in NYC this year (either in person or on TV)? I didn't see any footage of it this year. I've only ever seen it on TV in years past and it looks very fun and elaborate. I'd love to see all the folks doing the Thriller dance all together... so funny!
-
I also quite enjoy seeing the BBM calendar by your desk! 8) :D
What a sharp eye Mrs. Rodeo Queen!
And our Zombie is also sharp looking as dark angel. Great costume Chuckiezombie!
Looking all pale and sick in that one:

Scary.
-
That is a really creepy shot.
-
OMG! Where did you get those wings Chuck? :o
Those are really cool looking. Did you rent them?
-
why thanks, big brother Truman! ;D
So, did i pull the costume off properly? ;)
-
OMG! Where did you get those wings Chuck? :o
Those are really cool looking. Did you rent them?
We have a few big "Halloween outlet" places here, I found everything for the costume there, except for the belt I'm wearing.
The wings were only $15.00, so i still have them.
I got the necklace, bandanas for my head and leg, wrist cuff, earing, rings, and finger cuff all there, for under $50.00, and that includes the price of the wings.
The belt I got at a store called "Spencers". I almost got a big skull belt bucklet, but it was $25.00, and I didn't want to spend that on something I'd never wear again. I used the silver buckle that Karen gave me as a gift on one of her NYC trips. The belt also has two holes on the side, and a silver chain hangs down off it. You can't see it in the pics. If you look at the second pic where my hand is raised, the hand hanging at my side, you can see the chain. It comes off the belt, so I can wear it like a regular belt.

Bumping for the new year! Following on the tradition established here before... we're encouraging people to put on a virtual costume here at BetterMost for Halloween! You can do this by changing avatar pics, signature lines and usernames!
Join in the fun!
Also, please feel free to post your real-life Halloween costumes here too!
-
I'll go first this year:

-
I love gif images, in case you haven't noticed. I haven't figured out how to get my avatar to move, though. The only one I've ever seen was Ray's (Director Raymille, that is).
It's not a costume, but I love this image from icanhascheezburger.com:

Ok, my user name has changed, as well as my avatar and siggy line.

LOL!! This is really true. I keep surprising myself with this costume username. I keep noticing "Scary Ghost" looking at the same thread as me and for a split second I'll wonder who that is... and then have the *doh* moment!

Everyones' costumes look wonderful! Hopefully some more of our members will put on a costume this evening!
I love the Heath/Joker gif Paul. And the cat eyes! Very 8) looking!
Chrissi's bat and moon avatar is very cute too! :)

A little tip, which y'all are free to follow or not: when you post in here, post your costume (avatar and sigline) as a pic in the post body. At the moment, we can see it, but in two days, your costumes will be gone forever otherwise (after you will have changed back).

OK, so here's my 2009 Halloween costume for the record books. This year I did a rare thing and chose a spooky costume. I actually don't think I've ever chosen to wear a scary Halloween costume in real life. And, last year here at BetterMost I was a Rodeo Queen who also had a successful career as a barrel racer.
This year I'm "Scary Ghost::
<img src="http://www.divshare.com/img/9133840-a89.jpg" border="0" /> (http://www.divshare.com/download/9133840-a89)
The line under my signature isn't too creative: "Whooo...whoo... whooo!!!"
But, my signature line is a ghost version of a Brokieism: "Whoo... Whoo... Whoo-eee!! Yeah!!"

Here's my avatar:

Bumping this thread so we can all start thinking about our 2010 costumes! 8)

I've already decided I'm gonna be a cowboy.
-
Why do they call you Mrs. Stephens?
For Samantha Stevens, the famous witch of Bewitched, who lived in New England. She was married to Darren Stevens. I have to practice wriggling my nose, because I plan to be a witch for Halloween this year!!

Agent Rodgers was the first ghost to enter. He grabbed a book off of a shelf on the way in and started heading for a seat. He was quickly stopped by a security guard, who had no idea what was going on.
Guard: Sir, what are you doing?
Rodgers: Um… haunting the library.

I´m the Ghost of the Face Pet. (Face Pet aka Jake´s beard)
When Jake arrived in LA yesterday after his extended stay in NY, the beard he´d sported lately was...gone. But during its short life the beard received plenty of attention and split Jake fans into two groups: those who thought the beard was trendy and hot, and those who thought it made Jake look like a taliban wanna-be with a personality disorder. So during its short life span the Face Pet made quite a name for itself. And now that it is gone, I wanna pay my respect. Thank you Face Pet. R.I.P

I get all confused when people change their names!!!!

I must admit I like Jake MUCH better WITHOUT his beard!
Having said that, I'm glad you have devoted your Halloween costume to the ghost of his beard. lol

May it rest in peace!

If you like you could be Ghost of the Face Pet 2... It is sometimes a bit lonely to be the only one, you don't have anyone to share the pain with especially the life in the sewer of Brooklyn.
-
Thank you very much for the offer. But I think GOTFP is very unique to you. Plus, if I became GOTFP2, I'd just be playing with myself all day!!

How about a skull and crossbones ring and some of those armadillo pumps that Lady Gaga wears? Your costume sounds gorgeous!
I have to WALK at the Ren Faire!
I still don't know what I'm going to wear up top. Probably a long-sleeve chemise under the corset, some Ren boots if it's not too warm.

From Edgar Allan Poe's "The Telltale Heart":
It is impossible to say how first the idea entered my brain, but, once conceived, it haunted me day and night. Object there was none. Passion there was none. I loved the old man. He had never wronged me. He had never given me insult. For his gold I had no desire. I think it was his eye! Yes, it was this! One of his eyes resembled that of a vulture -- a pale blue eye with a film over it. Whenever it fell upon me my blood ran cold, and so by degrees, very gradually, I made up my mind to take the life of the old man, and thus rid myself of the eye for ever.

Jeff, did you try different browsers for Bettermost if you were having that problem? Sometimes that fixes it for me even though it is not the browser in isolation, and certainly not Bettermost itself, which has a problem. One of my friends was having problems in Facebook ever since her Internet Explorer went to version 8 - broken links, back arrows just going back one or two pages before getting lost and the like. She tried Firefox and had none of those problems. It was probably neither IE 8 nor Facebook but those in combination with her settings for them, or in combination with other programs.

What problems, darlin?
Like Andrew's friend, I had problems after upgrading to IE 8. Anyway, Chuck told me about a little button, and Lee told me the name (so thanks to both! :)). It's the compability button directly to the right of your browerser's address field (if you have IE, that is). It looks like a torn sheet of paper. For me, it fixed the problems.
About the picture loading: there may be a restriction of size for avatar pics (not sure). Maybe shrinking the pic before uploading could help?
-
Interesting, that compatibility button. I see it on Bettermost. But when I bring up IE before going to a site, it's not there and was trying to figure out what you have to do to get it. Apparently IE puts it there only if you go to a site that was created under an earlier version of IE. And, it is also an option which has to be checked, although the default may be to have it checked. I right clicked in the Menu Bar/Favorites Bar/Commands Bar area at the top of the window and saw that showing the Compatibility View Button was yet another option which has to be checked. If it is unchecked it does not show up, even on Bettermost.
Thanks for the information, Chrissi, I will forward it to my friend for her to play with.
That said, the compatibility view is mostly supposed to affect page formatting. So chances are the Halloween avatar problem was something else, like what you said.

I access Bettermost one of two ways. At work I access through our company network ::) which uses Internet Explorer--which was recently upgraded. At home I access Bettermost, and, indeed, the Internet in general, through AOL. The problem I was having--I guess since IE was upgraded here at work, anyway--was that if I attempted to input any text--that is, write a post--that was longer than the size of the text box, so that the text would have to scroll, the contents of the text box would jump around, up and down, as soon as I got to the bottom of the box in my typing. This was really annoying when I wanted to include a lengthy quote in my post. It appears that clicking on that compatibility button has solved that problem, at least here at work, and I thank you both for your help.
I'm not quite sure how to describe the problem at home. There, when I input text, it no longer appears as I'm typing it. It's almost as if the text is going into some type of buffer, and there is a lag time before it appears on the screen. It makes inputting very slow--I might as well be typing with one finger. Since I access the site through AOL, I'm not sure what to do about that.
Maybe I should try accessing at home through Internet Explorer. I've never heard of Firefox.

That's easy, but depending on what you have. I can expain it to you via PM, if you're interested. Do you have Irfan View/other picture program? Or store all your pics on an online site (photobucket or sumpn)?
Anyway, to shorten the procedere, just send me the pic in a PM or post it here (I'll later delete it form the thread) and I'll shrink it for you.

GREAT video! Thanks for the post!
The original airing was December 9, 1965--I was 11.75 years old. :o ::)
I had already loved Charles Schulz--but THEN: Bill Meléndez--AND AND AND (!!!!) Vince Guaraldi!
I remember talking about the students AND teachers at school soon after (was it the next day?)--and I said to someone, rather inanely--"I never knew what Charlie Brown sounded like before!" and one of the teachers said--"NObody knew!"
And it was true. Nobody had.
It was a revelation. Seriously. Our minds were utterly blown.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Charlie_Brown_Christmas
A Charlie Brown Christmas
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(....)
Network executives were not at all keen on several aspects of the show, forcing Schulz and Bill Meléndez (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Mel%C3%A9ndez) to wage some serious battles to preserve their vision. The executives did not want to have Linus reciting the story of the birth of Christ from the Gospel of Luke; the network orthodoxy of the time assumed that viewers would not want to sit through passages of the King James Version of the Bible. A story reported on the Whoopi Goldberg-hosted version of the making of the program that Charles Schulz was adamant about keeping this scene in, remarking that "If we don't tell the true meaning of Christmas, who will?"
Another complaint was the absence of a laugh track, a common element of children's cartoons at the time. Schulz maintained that the audience should be able to enjoy the show at their own pace, without being cued when to laugh. (CBS did create a version of the show with the laugh track added, just in case Schulz changed his mind. This version remains unavailable, though unauthorized copies have appeared on YouTube.)
A third complaint was the use of children to do the voice acting, instead of employing adult actors. Finally, the executives thought that the jazz soundtrack by Vince Guaraldi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vince_Guaraldi) would not work well for a children's program. When executives saw the final product, they were horrified and believed the special would be a complete flop.
The half-hour special first aired on Thursday, December 9, 1965, preempting The Munsters and following the Gilligan's Island episode "Don't Bug the Mosquitos". To the surprise of the executives, it was both a critical and commercial hit. None of the special's technical problems detracted from the show's appeal; to the contrary, it is thought that these so-called quirks, along with several other choices, are what lent the show such an innovative, authentic and sincere feeling. For instance, Linus' recitation was hailed by critics such as Harriet Van Horne of the New York World-Telegram who said, "Linus' reading of the story of the Nativity was, quite simply, the dramatic highlight of the season."
50% of the televisions in the United States were tuned to the first broadcast. A Charlie Brown Christmas won an Emmy and a Peabody award, and is considered by many to be a timeless Christmas holiday classic. The success of the animated special, A Charlie Brown Christmas has given rise to numerous other specials (including ten others that are also holiday-themed), a miniseries devoted to America, Saturday morning cartoon, and four full-length feature films.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vince_Guaraldi
Vince Guaraldi
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Compositions for Charles Schulz's Peanuts
While searching for just the right music to accompany a planned Peanuts television documentary, Lee Mendelson (the producer of the special) heard a single version of "Cast Your Fate to the Wind" by Vince Guaraldi's trio on the radio while traveling in a taxicab on the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California. Mendelson contacted Ralph J. Gleason, jazz columnist for the San Francisco Chronicle and was put in touch with Guaraldi. He proposed that Guaraldi score the upcoming Peanuts Christmas special and Guaraldi enthusiastically took the job, performing a version of what became "Linus and Lucy" over the phone two weeks later. The soundtrack was recorded by the Vince Guaraldi Trio, whose other members were Puzzy Firth standing in bassist for band member Fred Marshall, who was ill at the time, and drummer Jerry Granelli. Guaraldi went on to compose scores for sixteen Peanuts television specials, plus the feature film A Boy Named Charlie Brown as well as the unaired television program of the same name.

OK, where's the spooky happenings thread? ???
Last night I went to bed as normal, only to be awoken at 3:30 am by someone knocking. It wasn't me dreaming, the cats heard it too. I actually had hoped it was them scratching their ears on hardwood floors - when they do that, their paws thump thump thump on the floorboards.
But both were in bed with me. :o
I lay there wondering why would anyone knock, when I have a doorbell?
It didn't repeat itself.
I lay down and went back to bed and then was awoken an hour or so later by the next door neighbor's dog barking. He started at the bottom of the yard, then his voice got louder and louder, meaning he was following whatever it was up towards the house. Then, whatever it was, stopped. He stayed barking - all alone of the neighborhood dogs - until his owners called him into the house.
They say Hecate is announced by the howl of dogs...it wasn't howling, but it was still spooky.

This past weekend, an odd sight could be seen on Avenue A: Vampires giving blood. For six hours this Saturday, a van from the New York Blood Center parked in front of Vampire Freaks (http://vampirefreaks.com/nyc), a store specializing in gothic and industrial clothing and accessories, for the store's second annual blood drive. “We tell people for every pint of blood they donate, they save three lives," said Jet Berelson, the store’s owner, not long after giving up a pint of his own. About twenty people ended up donating, most coming from the store, according to Milton Walker, supervisor and phlebotomist for New York Blood Center.

Thanks!
L to R:
Linda in her orange sweater, Ethel as a hippie, Maria in a blue wig, Amy as a mad scientist, Margaret as a pirate, Nancy as a Jets fan, Denice as a bunny, Ed as a hippie, Rosanna as a hippie, Ed as a Mouseketeer, me as a cowboy, and Shirley as an "alien proctologist".
:D
Love the alien proctologist!!
And you look very authentic and cowboy-y, Chuck!
Except that the real cowboys I've seen so far have been somewhat....um....dirtier... ::)
I notice you have two Eds and three hippies at your office.

Jeff is right. NewGuy looks like (offline)Chuck.

Yee-Haw! :)
Lol at Jeff's comment with the bank and gun .
-
You work in a bank and they let you in carrying a gun. Oh ... kay. ... ???
naw, it´s just a big carrot
-
I gotta say, it's a relief everyone took their costume off.
Now I know who is who again! ::)
-

First, it was a cap gun with an orange cap over the top of the barrel, so it was obvious it was fake.
Secondly, I work in a back office position, there are no funds for me to steal at all. lol

Last gasp till next Halloween 2011, I guess!

Great! Was that that same improv group that did the Ghostbusters bit? ;D

*bump*
Don't forget to take pics of yourself in costume this Halloween and share them with us! You can also post costumes from previous years, if you want.
We're looking forward to seeing all you spooky appearances. :D 8)

I don't remember either. LOL

Boo!
I decided not to dress up this year. :-\

Happy Halloween !

LOL, yes, but we all did our own Cat mask. But mine seems to be more like a fox. : )

I think I'll keep my avatar and name until Sunday evening, and change it back then.

You can't get rid of that ghastly pic soon enough for me, Mr Z T! ::)
-
blah blah blah
-
I decided to take some time off as I had bundled my immediate bosses off to an out of town conference for a few days and had some relaxation time and realized that I was off during Halloween and thus did not have any reason to dress up (no parties this year :( alas).
So I just watched scary movies and gave out candy.
-
So I just watched scary movies and gave out candy.
I finally got to see the Roger Corman/Vincent Price collaboration The Pit and the Pendulum. I didn't find it at all scary, but I'm glad I finally got to see it. I understand the films Corman made with Price are considered "classics" of their type.
Oh, and I ate candy. ... ;D
-
Ack! Normally I don't post pics of my kids, but I had wanted to post one of my son in Halloween costume. Guess who forgot to take a photo?
Maybe I can get him to throw over the costume once more.
We had friends over for a long night of card games and had a great time! :)
Thankfully, we always have the day off after Halloween for All Saint's Day.
Halloween was disappointingly quiet at my door. Exactly one pair of children came trick or treating.
Oh well, we had fun anyway. I made a non-alcoholic drik which I called Toad's blood and Witch's wee-wee, complete with frozen flies, worms and a little bat sitting on the glass. Kerstin brought sweet fingers and pumpkin soup and we also had spider-wieners. ;D
-
What a lovely evening you seems to have had Chrissi. Thank you for sharing. What a bummer with the photo, perhaps next year, we will see you in costume. :)

I doubt you will ever see me in a Halloween costume.
But lookeee here, my son put on the costume again. I guess some people will recognize the mask. ;D

LOL!
For being a non-American, you really go a long way to celebrate a real Halloween, Chrissi! ;D
-
I didn't dress up, but Naylan did - here he is as a bat waiting for Guisers (aka Trick or Treaters) to arrive..
-
This was him last year - what a difference a year makes!
-
I guess Halloween is another form of American imperialism. ;) Like McDonald's and KFC. ;D
But the little ones look adorable in their costumes, and Chrissi's party drink looks scarily yummy! :D

Heh, the modern Halloween, is certainly very American.. but it originated in the UK! Robert Burns even wrote a poem about it!

It's fun to see other countries celebrating Halloween. ;D It's become quite a party Holiday here, and next year it is on a Friday night.

Have you seen any of the other Corman/Price Edgar Allen Poe series? "The Fall of the House of Usher" is my favorite.
I don't know what I'm going to do with all the left-over Halloween candy. I guess I'll eat all those fun-size bars or take them to work.

No, I've never seen any of them. That's why I was so glad to see The Pit and the Pendulum.

I expect we'll be wallowing in left-over candy at work this week. :-\

Does anybody do Guy Fawkes Day anymore? ???
When I was a kid in school they told us dumb colonials that Britain didn't celebrate Halloween, but people did a lot of the stuff "we" did on Halloween on Guy Fawkes Day. ???
Remember, remember the Fifth of November,
Gunpowder Treason and Plot.
I see no reason that Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot!

That venetian mask look pretty scary with that coat and all. I guess he scared a few people, pretty good. ;D
Unfortunate I can´t say the same thing about the dog, she´s to cute. I guess she got less candy then your son. Hope she is not to shaken up about it. ;D

Yep, we do guy fawkes too - we were at a bonfire night on Tuesday - and Naylan quite liked watching the fireworks - he was in a carrier so was nice and high on my chest.. as he got sleepy he cuddled in to me, laying hi head on my chest watching them :) Here he was at the start of the evening..
So we have 2 'family events' in less than a week.

That is the sweetest picture ever, Kelda! :D

awwww, cute pic!

Cute as a button. :)
Jens just came in and I showed him the pic: "Awww. He's so big already."

Happy Halloween!
I brought doughnuts to "treat" my team here at work today. :)
I wonder whether there's a jack-o-lantern "smiley" out there somewhere? That would be nice for today. :)

I know what you thinking. But it's true. We do celebrate down here as well.
Happy Halloween Everybody!
-
That's great, Sophia! But do you celebrate Samhain or Halloween, or do you call it something else?
I had to drop by my mom's retirement home so I decided to dress up. I wore some black leggings, a swanky top, pointy-toed shoes and my pointy witch hat. It was a big hit; all the elders had a big smile and/or laugh when they saw me. I took mom my kind of treats: some roses, a book, and a bag of raspberries and some Canadian bacon. I hope she substitutes them for at least some of the candy.
-
Sounds great, Lee!! Went to the party at my friends' house, stayed there until about 11:30 or so. :) Good food, good drinks, lots of talking and laughing.

I had never heard about Samhain before so I had to look it up....apparently it is a geltic tradition. In Sweden thou we celebrate Allhelgona...you could compare it to All saints day...which means we put candles on our loved once graves and celebrate our near and dear. But things are changing. For each new year, I think more people are celebrating the anglophile tradition and I can understand why. It sounds much more fun and entertaining.
