Read the quotes below, and the first person to guess the correct movie will win a lamb!
Okay. This one may be a bit difficult, so I'll post three quotes from the movie and also provide a hint:
This movie is from the 1950's and it was filmed in black and white. And it's also one of my favorite movies! :D
Here's the quotes:
"He was such a lovely, dear little boy. He used to say I was his sweetheart and he was going to marry me when he grew up. I would laugh so. "No you won't. You'll forget about me long before then. You'll find a prettier girl and marry her." And do you know what he said then? "No, I won't. 'Cause there isn't a prettier girl in the whole world than you are."
"You hit him with the shoes, didn't you? You hit him with the shoes, that's how he got those half moon marks on his forehead and on his hands. Answer me Rhoda. ANSWER ME!"
"You sound like Fred Astaire tap tap tapping across the floor ."
Do you know which movie it is? :)

Gone With the WIND!!
-
"The Road Warrior"!!
-
"Beauty and the Beast"!!
(am I getting close??)

"Beauty and the Beast"!!
(am I getting close??)
No No No Jess!!! Gone With The Wind is from the 1930s! This movie is from the 1950s! Mid 1950s in fact! (That was another clue) ;)
-
Okay, I'll give another quote from the movie. Now this quote is a converation between two people. I can't give the names or else it could give away the movie. I guess I can put Rhoda's name in there because her name was already mentioned up above. But I can't put the other person's name in there.
Here's the quote:
The Mother: "Rhoda, what happened to old Mrs. Post in Witchita?"
Rhoda: "There was ice on the steps and I slipped and fell against her, and that was all."
The Mother: "That was all? "
Rhoda: "No. I slipped on purpose."

You still don't know it Jess? I was sure you would guess it after that last quote. Here's one more:
"I'm drunk. It's a pleasure to stay drunk when your little boy's been killed. "

;D
I only watched it because Anne Hathaway was in it. Normally I wouldn't think I would like movies like that, but I loved it. Have seen it about 4 times. Perhaps I like it is because Andy (Andrea) got a taste (cause' she felt she had too) of the fast life of fashion, and in the end she walked away (brushed it off her sleve like some dust). Either way, it is a great film and Hathaway and Streep did a fine job of acting.
Brad

Okay, here's another one. Once again this is one of my favorites, from the 1950's and shot in black and white....
"They're here! They're here! They've landed! Over on the mall! They've landed!"
Jess.... THIS ONE IS FOR YOU!!! ;)
-
The Day the Earth Stood Still.

Shit, I can't even post my answer cause' Clyde it way too fast. That's ok. Don't reckon I need

Okay Clyde, YOU post one now!! :)

Sorry Brad!
I guess David and I must like the same movies.
Here's one from the '60's
"You don't look out for yourself, the only helping hand you'll ever get is when they lower the box. "

The Bad Seed with Patty McCormack
I've only just found this thread, but that's what I would have guessed too.
Update after reading the rest of the thread. I didn't know any of the others.
-
That's really weird Clarissa, because I was just getting ready to post a new one! :D
We must be working on the same frequency tonight. ;)
____________________________________________________________________________
Okay, here's another one....
This movie is new (new meaning less than 20 years old)
" I don't like homosexuals and she goes out and buddies up with one so I gotta deal with that. I don't like little wimpy-ass kids or mental retards and she got one of each livin' with her.
(Laughs)
"I'm just kidding about that really."
-
Here's another quote...
This is a conversation between the main character of the movie and another character....
"I'm just going to say it. I'm gay. Does that surprise you that I'm gay? You know what gay is, don't you?"
"I don't reckon."
[speaking quietly] "Homosexual. I like men.. sexually."
"Not funny 'ha-ha', funny queer."
"Well that's a very offensive way to put it. You shouldn't say that. You were taught that, weren't you? "
"I've heard it said that a-way."
___________________________________________________________________________
The person who guesses this movie correctly will win a lamb! :D

Hmmm....Sling Blade?
-
Okay, here's one more and then I'm going to bed!
"I'm gonna make some coffee. Karl, you want some coffee?"
"Coffee makes me nervous when I drink it. Mmm hmm."
-
Hmmm....Sling Blade?
YES!!! :D
Nevermore wins a lamb!! :D
(http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j43/Davidindy/What%20Is%20It/babylamb.jpg)
Maybe you will post the next movie quote? And if you don't want to, and if nobody else has posted one by tomorrow I'll do it later on!
Yup! It was Sling Blade, another one of my favorite movies! :)
-
As for church....I attend regularly.
That is from The Right Stuff. Alan B. Shepherd, as played by Scott Glenn, duh! AJ, you really need to refresh your DVD collection. But at least you're not quoting Apocalypse Now again. Here's one from a movie I know you have seen:
"You never fuck me and I always have to drive!"
-
YES!!! :D
Nevermore wins a lamb!! :D

I am so proud of myself [ sniff ]--it's been ages since I saw that movie, but I just had a feeling. All right here's two for you guys before you turn in, two different movies, same actor:
#1 "All you do is fuck my mother and eat her food. Motherfucker! Food eater!"
#2 "Look, Mike--sandwiches!"
-

I THINK I know the answer to this one. I'll send you a PM and if I'm correct, we'll let the others try and guess! ;)
-
Strewth. This one's too hard for a non-american. :(
-
Come on everyone! Take a guess! I've already been told I guessed the correct answer. Now let's see if you can do it! :)
-
Nope! :D
Nevermore is not here yet but I can safely tell you those are not the correct answers. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to tell you any clues, so the only thing I can tell you is *beeeep!* Try Again! ;) ;D
-
Dont know if I can stay awake till the middle of the nite when vampire girl Nevermore is usually online ;D
Well, you got "My Own Private Idaho" correct, but not the other one! I asked Nevermore yesterday in a PM and I was told I guessed it correctly. So you may wish to rethink "Drugstore Cowboy" unless I guessed the wrong answer last night. :-\
-
River's Edge
-
River's Edge
Yup! That's the correct answer Clyde! :)
Do you want to post a movie quote now?
-
Sure.
"You sure you know how to use that thing?"
"I saw Gary Cooper in "Sergeant York.""
-
Apocalypse Now ;D.
Drawing a blank here...The Big Lebowski or kingpin. I got this picture of Jeff Bridges in my head.
Not even close. Jeff Bridges? What a macabre picture, considering that the character who delivered the line was a rather foxy female. Is that enough of a hint for you? All right, here's another one--she was not played by Scott Glenn (in drag).
-
"You never fuck me and I always have to drive!"
Is from Drugstore Cowboy. SO you are correct, AJ, though using the imdb is cheating, especially since I had a theme going with the Keanu/Van Sant connection, viz:
#1 "All you do is fuck my mother and eat her food. Motherfucker! Food eater!"
#2 "Look, Mike--sandwiches!"
#1 is from River's Edge, Dave got it right away.
#2 is from My Own Private Idaho, so AJ was right though I bet he let his fingers do the walking again.
Sure.
"You sure you know how to use that thing?"
"I saw Gary Cooper in "Sergeant York.""
I'm going to resist the temptation to imdb it---I think this is some 50's sci-fi, so I'm at a disadvantage, though I saw a lot of sci-fi kitsch by osmosis back in film school when I did my workstudy as a projectionist. Um...The Day the Earth Stood Still?
-

No, but you're sampling the right vintage.
Another quote:
"There are no enemies in science, only phenomena to be studied."

Can anyone guess what movie this is from?
DONALD: Well. Am I stunning?
MICHAEL: You're absolutely stunning. You look like shit, but I'm absolutely stunned.

It looks like this thread kind of fizzled out.
Kerry, we have not forgotten about your movie which is still in play, but I just had to post a special Halloween version.
Kerry's movie is STILL in play everyone.. this is just an extra for Halloween.
Okay, all you horror movie fans! Can you guess the movie this quote is from? If you've seen the movie, it should jump right out at you. If not, it could be a bit difficult.
Fun is fun. And done is done
Hint: The movie takes place in New England. That hint alone should lead you on a path to finding the correct answer.
-
Here's another quote:
George: "Nice to meet you, "Hector". My name is George.... George Staub."
Back seat passenger: "Formaldahyde! That's the smell! The son of a bitch is dead!"
Here's another hint (and this is a BIG one!) The movie is based on a Stephen King novel.
Hurry up and guess, because I will soon have to turn this thread back over to Kerry. :D

Okay, here's another hint... Barbara Hershey co-stars in it.
Just think about it. I've left several hints.... Stephen King, New England, Barbara Hershey....
Here's another hint.... amusement park rides. :)
-
"Riding the Bullet"
-
"Riding the Bullet"
That's it Shasta! :D
(http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u296/Brunob1/22160.jpg)
That movie was SCAAAAAAARY!! :o
I thought David Arquette did a brilliant job playing George Staub. I'm so used to seeing him in comedic roles, but he was quite scary in this movie.
And Jonathan Jackson is extremely cute!
Good Job Shasta!!!
Now I'll turn this back over to Kerry... sorry about that Kerry. But it's the Halloween weekend and I couldn't help myself!
-
Here's Kerry's original movie quote once again.....
"Sodomites, all of them. Steer well clear."
And a second quote from Kerry....
"She died working for the Red Cross. Which, given her devotion to God, rather points out the arbitrariness of it all."
-
I don't think anyone knows which movie my quotes come from, so I'll give the answer.
They're from "Brideshead Revisited." :D
