I am starting this thread for our Ellemeno, who had the lovely idea of creating a home for photos that remind us in some way of Brokeback Mountain or our fellow BetterMostians!
I envision that sometimes the allusion will be pretty obvious and other times not readily apparent. So, toward that end, I am also going to create a "Brokeback Mountain and BetterMost Oblique Photo Thread: Unveiled" which will be for discussion and explanation of the photos:
http://bettermost.net/forum/index.php/topic,27107.0.html
I will post a few photos and also in the sister thread to get this started...I hope it turns out to be a fun as I think it will!

Here are some more pictures from that same journey through the American West.
In Tuba City, they've got a "Taco Del Mar" on the other side of the road from a gas station. We didn't stop for Tacos, but I did photograph their sign.

And in Sedona we came across this appealing sculpture of a cow-boy with his lasso and dog, which caused both Meryl and me to exclaim; "For he loved a little dog!" (Plus, inside the shop there was a rodeo rider sculpture - right before he goes flyyying through the air!)
Then in Boulder, Colorado, this shop sign caught our eyes;

Great pictures!
I especially love Jake's Del Mar. :) And the Siesta Motel, of course. :)

Yeehaw!!! What a wonderful thread!! :D :D :D
I'll take the liberty of posting a few photos from my Wyoming journey with Lee this summer...

I love, love, love this thread! :)
But, I feel compelled to ask... I hope I'm not making a huge Brokie gaff by asking this... but, what's the significance of the "Monk's Vineyard" sign?
I'm doing this -----> (http://bestsmileys.com/blushing/2.gif) preemptively.

I'm right here with you Bud!
Great idea for a thread Lynne! :-*
But I also don't get the connection between BBM and the Monk's vineyard ???
-
Oh, never mind my confusion. I've found the sister thread to this one.
Amanda, look here for the explanation of the monk sign:

Ok, BBM during my last vacation to Austria:
On our second day, I came upon a bear:
The impressive mountain ranges of course:

And this one took the cake for me:
This was as a give-away in a cereal package. The hotel opened new ceareal packages. My boy got the Christian Bale Batman, and the boy at the neighbour table got - the Joker! :o I was short of going over and asking to swap ::).

Awww, I was just revisiting this cool thread and remembering what a fun idea it is. I'll have to remember to be on the look out for contributions for this thread since I now have a digital camera as part of my cell phone.
;D

Chère Lynne,
What are or can be considered:
Oblique Photo ??
Since I never have seen this expression:
Oblique Photo ,
what does it mean?
Please note that I am proud
that you start a thread
with Brokeback Mountain as a subject!
Au revoir,
hugs!

This is a Japanese print. And, while it's not a photograph, it reminded me of BBM, so I thought I'd post it here. :)

What a lovely print.I love all things Japanese because of my brother living there.Love the horses and of course where the blue birds sing. All that is missing is the whiskey spring!!
I am just catching up with the thread now, what a treat.

Seen on the bus. 'Nough said.

And a fine vintage found at the Harvest Co-op in Cambridge:
(It was actually very good too, for $9.99)

Thanks for reviving this thread Lynne. :)
The striped wellies are adorable, and the guy on the bottle really looks like our Jack. :D
