So Ennis and Ellery are serious. They have talked about it and now made a pledge over a shot of Glenfiddle and a puff on their shared cigar. If they were to wear something or in some other way demonstrate their mutual commitment, what do you believe they would choose? Vote in the poll and share your comments. This should be fun!

They sure do...boy, Helen, I am so sorry I won't get to meet you when I am in London!

Okay, I'm in the minority at the moment. Here are my reasons.
Ennis is a traditional guy. It's his personality and his upbringing. He'll go for the traditional symbol.
Ellery is more open to different possibilities, but he's also fairly determined to show that he's not really different from so-called normal people. So he sees no reason why his symbols should be different from those of other people. He's trying to live as normal a life as possible under the circumstances. As he noted a few volumes back, as long as he doesn't flaunt his sexual orientation or rub anybody's nose in it, the sheriff has no objection to his private life. A wedding ring on the traditional hand and traditional finger isn't rubbing anybody's nose in it. Casual observers would only assume that he is married. And Ellery might comment, "I AM married."
-
I know Ennis is changing but I don't see him getting an earring or a nipple piercing. So my vote goes to the ring on the right hand.

But then they'd always assume he's traditionally married wouldnt they? And he'd always have to explain himself.

I quite like the tattoo idea as well :) I loved the ones Jack and Ennis had at in ALBFS. :)

I set this poll up so you can only vote for one thing, forcing people to make a choice. I like tattoos, too, but for some reason, I see them as more of an anniversary thing...at least that was the approach in ALBFS. In that story they wore rings, on their right hands, but as everyone knows, that wasn't planned, it was spontaneous.

Yes Helen I like the tattoo idea as well, but in a place that only the two of them can see. ;) ;) ;) ;)

I think Ennis would do whatever Ellery wanted (i.e. I think Ellery could talk Ennis into a nipple piercing.) I don't think either one are earring kinda guys. However, I do also think Ennis himself may take the initiative and suggest something, and in that case, like someone said, it would probably be sorta traditional...

I voted for:
Ring, something more stylized, worn on right hand
Because I can so picture that! (nipple rings or rings for other appendages, nah! :P)
I dont even care if the ring is fancy or not. The ring I picture is not gold:

or something like:

I really like the rings Lucise. And yes, silver one's :)

I like this one.

Although the way the story is progressing, the next thing we'll read is that Ennis is getting a "Prince Albert"!!! LOL

Um, David, you can register that under "other"

HAHA
I want to know who voted for "Nipple, pierced, left side".
"Nipple pierced" is the only one I can't see that Ennis will go along. Others ideas are all possible, though I personally prefer ring on right hand.
-
nipple piercing works cause no one would see except him and ellery, since he doesn't prance around with shirt off.
but i think rings would be okay too.

I am one of the people, Jenny
Nipple ring -- Left side, over his heart.
I don't think he'd want to wear a ring on his left hand since he wore a wedding ring for 12 years.
Right hand, maybe, but it may be because of his job, he'd prefer not to have anything on his hands.
A nipple ring to me is sexy, I think Ellery would feel that way too...something they could both share but it would be private to the world

And I'm the second :)

Point well taken. I think the concept of have the ring over the heart is endearing.
However, I still have a hard time to imagine that Ennis will have his body pieced. Body tattoo, maybe; but body piecing is too edgy for Ennis.

I voted (as promised Leslie) for the ring on the left hand. Guess I'm a traditionalist.
Although the way the story is progressing, the next thing we'll read is that Ennis is getting a "Prince Albert"!!! LOL
Yep, that's what my husband said when I asked him ;D
-
I'm for the rings, on the right hand. But as I think more about it, maybe it should be on the left hand. That would be completely traditional. No, I'll stick to rings on the right hand, ring finger.

What happened to the simple adornment of a plain ol' fashioned ruby encrusted Prince Albert?

Who's Ellery?
