I picked this game up in Wyoming. If you want to play, I will draw a card for you, and write what is on it. You will need to answer a question, or ask a question of the other players. Say if your there, friends!!
-
OK, I'll give it a try. :)
-
Great friend!! Thank you! Okay, here is what's on the face of your card:
The way to avoid housework is to live outside. ~ Sandra Blacksmith, 1900
And here's your question:
"I would like to crusade for..."
You can either answer it, or ask the question of another player. I guess that would be me, for now!
-
I'm in!

OK... my answer is "I would like to crusade for equal rights for women all over the world."
So, do I ask a question of Lynne? (Hi Lynne!) Or, is that what you'll do Lee?
-
Hey Amanda! :-* I think Lee draws another card and it's my turn, right?

Heya! Yes, I think you're right. We should whistle for Lee to come back....

Right, friend! Okay, here is your card, Lynnie..

(Reverse)
Have you ever worn an item of clothing to a party and then returned that item of clothing?
(giggle) You can answer, or you can ask either one of us...

I like that quote!
I think I'll pass this one to Lee, just for fun!
-
Okay, my answer is, no...unless you can count me buying an item from Goodwill, wearing it once, and then donating it back to Goodwill, which I've done a time or two!
Okay, now it's my turn...I'm drawing a card...drumroll please!~

I'm having fun, how about you, friends??
(face) "Adventure is all I think about, being stuck up here in this cabin." ~ Edith Warren, 1888
(Reverse)
What did I do this week that was good for me?
The answer is, I helped my friend paint a house, and in doing so, learned about how to paint walls and ceilings, but most of all, how to prepare surfaces for painting!
And I spent beaucoup hours reading Lonesome Dove, which steeled me for different stressful events that I know are coming soon!! And, I prepared for a pleasant trip out of town. Okay that's about it!!

This seems extremely appropriate, considering I'm stuck at home on a Friday nite, with flakes flying!!
Lynne, ready for your turn?
-
Sure thing.
-
okay, here goes...
(face) "Wherever you journey, make it a home." ~ Patty Knoble, 1887

Describe your ideal mate.

These quotes are so fantastic!
OK...here goes...My ideal mate likes me for who I am, understands who I've been, and is willing to wait around to see who I'll become. H/she gets me, no instruction manual needed, encourages me, and understands that we're better people together than we could ever be separate. Our lives are filled with open affection and happiness. When dark days come, we support each other, unconditionally, and work as a team to get past them and back on our path together.

That is so beautiful, friend! Did that really come from off the top of your head? Sometimes, our hearts know the truth, without us having to analyze it at all!!
Okay, Amanda's turn, if you're up for it, friend.
-
Hey, SuperD...join us!!

Thanks, FriendLee. Once in awhile, I surprise myself too.
-
Yee-Haw! Another player. Does the next question go there?
-
Hopefully, but while we're waiting, I will draw another card....

"What did my mother tell me about being a "good girl"?
Well, the main thing, is she told me to keep my legs together when I sit, so people couldn't see my underwear. But I didn't quite get it.
-
I'm ready
-
Yee-ha, friend!! Okay, here is your special card, drawn carefully by me!!
(face) "If you have a weakness, make sure you know what it is." ~Barb White, 1906
(reverse)
(Remember, you can either answer this, or ask it of someone else)
Tell about a time I felt vulnerable.

I'll pass to Amanda

I'll pass to Amanda
Okay, she's close by...I'll rope her in.
-
Heya!
I'm here finally! I got deeply engrossed in constructing an elaborate post in the Feminist Music thread.
OK... I'll answer:

Tell about a time I felt vulnerable.
One time, that for some reason comes to mind... was when I was eight years old going into surgery (to fix a muscle problem I had with my left eye). I remember feeling terrified as they wheeled me down the hall to the operating room. They let me hold one of my favorite stuffed animals until we got to the door of the operating room.
I also remember the enormous relief upon waking up at the end. And, the end result of the surgery was very successful... so all's well that ends well.

Whew, that's good to hear, friend!!
I'm enjoying these stories!! But I'm starting to get tired. As my friends tell me... "Woman who run in front of car...get tired."
But that's not a quote from the cards, thank goodness! Okay, who's up for one more turn tonight?

One more turn?
I think we might need to invent a rule-tweek so that "rounds" or "turns" can keeping going more smoothly.

Sure thing, A. I also think it might be fun if everyone answered the questions if they want too.
-
Looks like a fun game. I enjoyed the questions and the answers.. It seems that the same person has to be
around all the time in order to keep the game moving however. :)
-
Hi, Janice! Welcome to the cowgirls!! If I'm not around, just pick a question, quote it, and answer it.
If anyone else wants to get a copy of the game, it's at www.cowgirlsgame.com, produced by Happy Trails ~ Side Saddle, LLC.
Now, who wants to play?
-
I'm in!
-
Yee-haw, friend!! Okay, here is your card:
(face) "I'm rough and tough and I don't wear bloomers." ~ Nellie Braken, 1887
(reverse)
How do I take?
(Remember you can either answer this question or pass it along to another player)
Looking forward to your reply!
-
I like the quote. I had never heard the word bloomers before, but knew rightaway what it is. Looked it up though to make sure.
I'd like to asnwer the question if I understood it ???.
Rough and tough girl that I am (;)) I just make the question my own and expand it to: How do I take life? - Lighthearted, with lots of humor and optimism; the seriuous stuff comes by itself.
-
That is definitely the truth, friend! The serious stuff just happens! Or as the title of a video I watched recently, Shift Happens!!
Have you noticed that the answers in our game are often just as quotable as what's on the face of the card??
Unless a new cowgirl steps up (Janice??) I will take a turn.
-
I have received an invitation to go play billiards, so the Cowgirls' cardplayin' is hereby suspended until I git back!! Go have a piece a birthday cake in honor of Heath tonite, friends!
-
I should have been there. I used to play pool. A lot. But when I hurt my leg, that was the end of my pool playing days. I miss
it a lot. But that is just one of the things we have to miss in life I suppose. When time comes to call a halt to whatever it is that we
no longer can do.
We just need to appreciate the things we can do, while we are able to do them...which we usually dont. (not knowing how
quickly it can all come to an end.) Love Janice
I guess that is my Heathism for the day..?
-
Hi, Janice! Well, since you can't play pool right now, how about card playin'? Any Eurobrokie cowgirls want to play?
-
sure I´m in! (just not sure what I´m supposed to do 8))
-
I'm also game again. :)
(How about drawing three cards, one for Monika, one for me and one for Janice, which we will keep unanswered and save it for her? - Just an idea, it's your game).
-
Cool game! Count me in, too! :)
-
Sounds great, Chrissi! Okay, here's Janice's card:
(face) "I've won more bets than any man I know." ~ Alberta Canyon, 1886
(reverse)
In what area(s) of life do women rule?
-
Glad to see you, mariez!! Hang on there just a sec while I draw buffymon's card and then I'll draw yours.
Here you go, Monika:
(face) "Sometimes I know that my mind is working too hard." ~ Carolyn Hardy, 1890
(reverse)
Who was I afraid of when I was growing up, and why?
-
i dont think I really understand exactly what I am supposed to do

I drew this card for you, Janice, and you have the choice to either answer the question, or designate someone else who's playing to answer the question. Have fun!!
