Title: The hot new drink: The Broketail!
Post by: southendmd on June 13, 2009, 08:18:09 pm: The newest bettermostest drink, just invented in Provincetown, by your inebriated co-moderators, Meryl and southendmd, is the Broketail!

The Broketail

1 part whiskey (of your choice)
dash cherry liqueur (such as Cherry Heering)
lemon Twist
club soda (optional)

Serve over ice and get to drinkin' and talkin' an' all. Ahhh.

(But I'm the same hisley - bleugh.. Jenny (newyearsday) and I had a whiskey cocktail when she came over to visit to celebrate being a Brokie but we didn't want a second one!

But the cherry sounds nice - maybe that will cancel out the whiskey! :D

In fact, Meryl and I had a Broketail last night whilst watching The Movie. It certainly added to the experience.

I used a bit higher proportion of cherry last night, and it was fine!

I know poor excuse, but Brokies would surely celebrate with whiskey, whereas any Scot would have a wee dram of whisky. Not that I like either, even the smell makes me feel poorly !

I didn't use to like whiskey much, but Brokeback turned me into a whiskey-drinker.

We did think of that, but, since it seems to be better with ice and soda, broketail won out.

Me too! I almost always have whiskey on hand in the house now as a result of BBM. I also eat a lot more beans than I ever did before (truly).

I like the sound of this cocktail because it sounds vaguely related to a Manhattan, which is one of my standard drinks. I love Manhattans... just a hint of sweetness, not too sweet. I'm not a big fan of extremely sweet cocktails. I tend to prefer dry tasting drinks and wine. But, the little dash of cherry in a Manhattan is nice. And, I can imagine it would be nice in this context too with a bit of lemon.

LOL, I'm about to go to a cocktail party for work in a couple hours... so I'm clearly gearing up! :P

This is from webtender: Cherry Heering is a Danish cherry liqueur invented in the late 1700s or the early 1800s by Peter Heering. It is dark red and has a flavor of black-cherries that is not overly sweet.

The manufacturing company, Peter F. Heering, was founded on December 1st 1818.
