The council moved the parish’s Halloween trick-or-treating hours from Sunday night, Oct. 31, to Monday night, Nov. 1, because Oct. 31 falls on a Sunday this year, and some religious groups feel ghosts and goblins shouldn’t prowl on that hallowed day.

I love Halloween. And, this story make me love Halloween even more! Somehow, it just makes me laugh and laugh that Halloween can frighten some people so much.

I am a Christian. It doesn't bother me for anyone, including Christians, to celebrate Halloween on Sunday.
It does bother me for Jesus to be mocked. :(

I think we had a similar thing here a few years back. People on the way to the cemeteries to light candles on the graves (the way we traditionally celebrate Halloween here) met people dressed as skeletons and such (the imported American version of Halloween - a rather recent phenomena) and took offense and Halloween (the US version of it) was moved to another weekend.

The problem is Jesus is an easy figure to be mocked, because if you're not much of a believer, his story sounds really out there.
And yes there were zombies as we define them in the bible. I forget which gospel, but after Jesus' death, the story continues that there was an eclipse, the holy curtain in the temple tore top to bottom and hundreds rose from their graves and walked the city of Jerusalem.
That's in the bible. Reads like a horror movie, doesn't it?

Shasta, I'm sorry that the pictures I posted upset you. It was not my intent to mock Jesus.
I happened to find those pics on a Google Image search. I saw them and thought "ok, Jesus rose from the dead, by a very loose defintion, he was a zombie." and just started laughing.
I have a very warped sense of humor, and have always enjoyed religious humor as well. It's just how I am.

It's anyone's right to say/post whatever they'd want. No one has to be concerned with what offends me or any other member. I know that.
But I do want people to know that I wouldn't mock Jesus, Mary, Muhammad, Buddha, or any other figure of religion because it's not necessary for me to do so, and I don't want to make fun of someone's beliefs.

we all have different senses of humour, Shasta. And I doubt Chuck was making fun of your belief.
maybe we should get back on topic
