Title: A Woman Worth Knowing: Anna Laetitia Aikin Barbauld
Post by: Jeff Wrangler on July 18, 2012, 10:52:22 am
Until last night I "knew" Anna Laetitia Aikin Barbauld only as a hymn writer. However, she was discussed at some length on last night's installment of Michael Wood's program on the history of England on PBS (Wood's program traces the history of England through the history of one village, Kibworth Harcourt, in Leicestershire, which happens to be the birthplace of Anna Laetitia Barbauld), so I looked her up this morning.

She would probably be better known today if her reputation hadn't been trashed by Coleridge and Wordsworth.
