Title: Alma
Post by: Shakesthecoffecan on April 16, 2018, 11:38:13 am
SO, after all this time it has come to my attention that Alma is Spanish for Soul.

Interesting the Ennis DEL MAR and ALMA and both Spanish influenced names.

Jack and Lureen, well, not so much.

Interesting.  I didn't know that.   So Alma Del Mar is Soul of the sea.

How interesting and beautiful! I seem to recall that Ennis means "island" too.

Now, Jack is a term of familiarity and contempt, also a term for a youth or knave, and also connotes a laborer. It is Middle English.

Lureen seems to be a name made up by Ms. Proulx, but I did find Laureen which means a laurel or bay tree.

There is a bar here in Philadelphia called Alma de Cuba.
