Title: How are you celebrating 2-22-22?
Post by: Front-Ranger on February 22, 2022, 11:34:39 am
How are you observing Twosday Tuesday? I plan to spend some time with my favorite "pair a deuces" as Aguirre calls them.

Very appropriate!

I must say, I didn't even think about celebrating it in any way.

No decor for the apartment, huh?

Nope, it was a plain period between Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's Day.

Well, there's 100 years till next time, so you'll have plenty of time to prepare your decorations.

Then I beat you on holiday decor, for once! I hung Mardi Gras lights -- purple green and gold, traditional MG colors -- from the fireplace mantel.

OK, I actually hung the lights a year or two ago and took a photo of it, which I posted on Facebook then and again this Mardi Gras. That about as close as I get to decorating for any holiday except for some half-hearted attempts around Halloween -- dragging out a light-up skeleton and a couple of other things around 5 p.m. Oct. 31 -- and maybe a few things with a little more impact at Christmas.

Yeah, I don't do any Mardi Gras stuff.   I do think it's funny that you decorate for Halloween,  on Halloween.

Yes, I'm always running around hastily putting it up as I see trick-or-treaters coming down the street!

When my kids were little, I was much more elaborate. We carved pumpkins, hung that spider web stuff on the porch, hung ghosts on a tree the kids made by pulling pieces of sheet over Styrofoam balls and drawing on faces with Sharpies, constructed a scarecrow with old clothes, leaves and a scary plastic mask. My remaining Halloween decor dates back to those days.

As for Mardi Gras, I do it as a tribute to my time of living in New Orleans.

Sounds like back in them days Martha Stewart had nothing on you.

I have beads but unfortunately they're in the office.  :(

I'm sure Martha Stewart does not traffic in those plastic bags of spiderweb stuff from Walgreens. She probably uses real spiderwebs! Her ghosts are not made from Styrofoam balls and old sheets and Sharpie faces drawn by children. She gest out her Ouija board or whatever. And so on. I was an extremely downscale Martha Stewart.
