As many of you know the briliant Sheyne posted a couple of days ago that she had a dream about all of us from C.T meeting up to celebrate Brandons 21st Birthday.Brandon had the idea of the cast reinacting it on stage, which I thought was a briliant idea. But as Sheyne pointed out that it was very unlikely to happen, so she suggested that us Tremblayans reinact Brokeback.
I have got way too into this and wont actually accept that this will probably never happen but I like to live in my own dream world...but just tell me if I get to over the top with all of this, cause once I start organising you can't stop me!
Anyway after a few suggestions and a few arguments we have come up with a small cast list:

Auditions are starting now for any of the parts above, please state your name, age and the part you want when auditioning and our pannel of judges (just me at the moment, but contact me if you think you are judge material) will decide what parts you should be cast as. People may nominate others as long as they tell the person that they have nominated them. People may double up roles if they have a small part, but make sure your characters never have a scene together, we don't want people talking to themselves now do we?
I am getting waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to into this, but it is fun! ;D

You need to distinguish between Davids... I am David, too, you know! Hehe...
I'd rather someone else nominate / ascribe me a part... but I request that once all of the casting is done and everyone has a part that we do some sort of subtitles thread where we go through the entire film where each person has to say their line, hahaha. You know, like in High School Freshman English when you read Romeo and Juliet and you all had a part and had to read your part aloud... kind of like that.
Now that would be fun.

Becks, babe - I'm totally on board. I'm going out looking for a frumpy dress and ill-fitting cardigan as we speak, and am saving every brown paper bag that comes my way until Ennis shows up needing one! But...sillysnake? Y'sure? I hate to resurrect that name for ANY reason.

Hey Judy - just want to make sure you've got long blonde hair, a tube top, cut offs, and platform sandals? And I think you're gonna need a curling iron for your hair. OOOOOOO - this is gonna be fun!
Becks - is this a play or movie re-enactment? If it's a movie, can Ang Lee direct? And if it's a play, can we get Corky St. Clair (see 'Waiting for Guffman' if that name's not familiar). Here's just a taste of Corky's approach - might be PERFECT!:
Corky St. Clair: "My first show was Barefoot in the Park, which was an absolute smash, but my production on the stage of Backdraft was what really got them excited. This whole idea of 'In Your Face' theatre really affected them. The conceptualization, the whole abstraction, the obtuseness of this production to me was what was interesting. I wanted the audience to feel the heat from the fire, the fear, because people don't like fire, poked, poked in their noses, you know when you get a cinder from a barbeque right on the end of your nose and you kind of make that face, you know, that's not a good thing, and I wanted them to have the sense memory of that. So during the show I had someone burn newspapers and send it through the vents in the theatre. And well, they freaked out, and 'course the fire Marshall came over and they shut us down for a couple of days."

Now distinguishing between the Davids; now the first David(reunion scene) is as in Paul and David. The second David, I don't know either of you can take it, but you will have to bare in mind that you will be sharing a hot and steamy car with either Mandy, Kelda or Ray! ;D But if you want one of you could play the peeing sheep!
The only part we haven't confirmed is Flashframe's will someone contact flash frame and tell them to get over here pronto!
The Sillysnake thing is all Sheyne's idea and I agree with her that he is the only one mean enough to play Mr. Twist. But if you are not happy with him playing your husband, Celeste, I am sure you can d-i-v-o-r-c-e him and find another willing sole.
Now I think it would be good if it was a reinactment of the movie cause then we know what we are saying and how to act. I think Ang is a good idea but I think he would probably be a bit busy, I was thinking one of the more talented members of C.T could direct. Or maybe we could convince Pierre to help out!

Chanterais, hon, you are killing me. But snaps to you for being proactive enough to learn your lines before rehearsals have even begun. But errr.. I'm gonna have to oversee a lot of this production, ok. Just call me the Anne Rice of Chez Trembley, but I'm gonna stick my nose in every which way. This especially includes the sexy scenes to see if they "work". Which means, Kelda, Ray or Mandy, whichever of you is getting jiggy in that backseat, rippin off your top, I'm gonna have to butt myself, Tom Ford-style, into Jack's "position" to see if you've got the top-ripping "thing" down? Ya? And I'll be the tartare sauce between our two hot fishies in that reunion scene, testing the heat of that reunion kiss.
Its a tough job, but someone's gotta do it. An I'm a tough old bird.
And seeing as how there are some as-yet-uncast roles, I did put myself down for the role of Jimbo. And if the production can co-incide with these certain few days in a month, I'll be the best darn Jimbo y'ever seen. Hell, you might even mistake me for Mr Twist. On the other hand, that'll mean I'll be married to Celeste and if its okay with her, n'all?

Of course, I can't totally promise that I'll turn Jack down, in that scene... It may be an unscripted change, especially if we get someone hot to play Jack (Nina? Jenny?)

All right - in honor of my upcoming role, I have changed my avatar (for the 30th time!). Still trying to figure out who's gonna be John Twist...

Yeah I am a bit confused too. I don't know if Sheyne wants to play him or what. If you want Celeste you could nominate a husband. I also like David.T's idea about once all of our roles our cast that we should do a subtitles thread and call it a script read through.
Actually I think we should just have on Ennis, one Jack and one of every character otherwise it is too confusing. But the question is who is going to be the only one of each character?

I'm not sure why I want to be Aguirre, but I really, really do. If you give me the part, I promise to throw in various ad-libs about how I want more money. In fact, I will throw in a comment about how I want more money in every single line that I say!

An added comment to my lobbying for the part of Aguirre...
I think I figured out the solution to our problem about who is going to be John Twist. Stay with me on this, it could actually work and it would be really cute and everyone wins. ;D
See, what we do, since John Twist just sits in his little chair and never goes anywhere... we get a dummy and we just put him in the chair and that is our John Twist. Then everything that is said to him is phrased in the form of a question and Ennis and Diane Twist wait through an awkward pause where he just seems like this huge jerk and then carry on the conversation as if he's just an asshole that plays those silent treatment games and/or speaks in his own sort of language of grumbles and facial expressions.
For instance... the scene could play like this...
ENNIS: Do you know where Brokeback Mountain is?
[awkward wait]
ENNIS: So, you thought he was too damn good to be buried in the family plot?
[awkward wait]
ENNIS: So he's going in there, hunh?
[awkward wait]
ENNIS: Well, that's okay, sir. I understand.
So, we could play it like that... or if you want, we could actually just change the ending altogether and let John Twist be dead and Diane Twist gives Ennis the ashes and they have a moment in the kitchen and everything. Tears, tears, tears, cherry cake to go around. Ennis is her newly adopted son and promises to come back every Christmas.

Even though I know we have at least two professional singers here, I am going to be bold and say I want to be "singer." I think this is probably referring to Mary MacBride, who sang, "No One's Gonna Love You Like Me," while Lureen's love life is openin up and Jack's is shuttin down - I mean while they dance the first time. I want that role, singin that.
I also would like to be Ennis in a scene. Not sure which, maybe the "Old Rose" or the "three hands" scene.
AND I nominate (strongly) both Flashframe777 as Ennis and SpookyRabbit as Jack in the playful shirtless wrestling scene that happens after the second tent scene. And I (strongly) suggest myself for Aguirre - just in that scene. OOhhh!! And I will find me some right strong binoculars (10X42), so I can really get into my part. RRWWAHHFF (what's that British sound again?)

So whoever nominates themself first for each part becomes that person. No nominations, it is a first come, first serve basis! So if Ray nominates himself first then he will be Lureen, that is how I am going to play it. Cause that is the only way it is fair.

I have made some executive desisions and since David made such a plea to be Jack in the tire iron scene I figured that he should play all of older Jack's scenes. I would like to send out a special thanks to Clarissa as she seems to be playing alot of the parts. :-*
And if you would like it I have a prop manager job for you. I also need a artistic director to sort out all the scenery. I was figuring Ray or Sheyne could do it cause I have seen there briliant drawings.

Is it okay if I post a casting call for Sheepherder #2? Calling all talented performers who have a taste for the rustic life (it's a sweet life!). Friend, can you sit on a horse amid thousands of woolies? Speak a line or two of Spanish to be repeated verbatim in English? If you don't know Spanish, that's okay, I don't know it either. Would you be okay with wearing a serape? In attractive shades of blue and brown? Other pluses, year-round tan. I know how to cook and am handy with a can opener too! We could have dibs on the sunny side of Brokeback Mountain. I promise not to play the harmonica, just a little quiet strumming on the guitar. Tequila provided on shares from free flowing spring. You don't have to do my laundry. In fact, we would trade off on chores and herding/tending, being the bottom and the top, everything!!

You would make a great sheepherder #2, Becky, altho I don't sense your heart's in the role. Perhaps if we switch out the blue heelers with huskies? Huskies are great-they run really fast, altho they have a tendency to eat the sheep, not tend them (not wut yr supposed to do). I know, my husky's always running after small deer (I'll post a pic later). Calling all talented performers who have a taste for the rustic life (it's a sweet life!). Friend, can you sit on a horse amid thousands of woolies? Speak a line or two of Spanish to be repeated verbatim in English? If you don't know Spanish, that's okay, I don't know it either. Would you be okay with wearing a serape? In attractive shades of blue and brown? Other pluses, year-round tan. I know how to cook and am handy with a can opener too! We could have dibs on the sunny side of Brokeback Mountain. I promise not to play the harmonica, just a little quiet strumming on the guitar. Tequila provided on shares from free flowing spring. You don't have to do my laundry. In fact, we would trade off on chores and herding/tending, being the bottom and the top, everything!!

In all seriousness, Bex has bumped this thread after I queried what was to happen to all the preparation I've been puting into my role. Since I am an oral sort of person, therefore a nail biter, I've had long bamboo shoots inserted into my fingernail beds, and surprisingly, this has deterred the nibble habit. I have dyed my hair almost every week since winning the role using the little bits of colour that never seem to be used up by the printer before you need to replace the cartridge. I discovered this completely by accident one day when intrigued by modern technology, I was trying to watch how a document was actually printed in there and I'm embarrassed to say I got a little TOO close. But hey, great revelations are born from error. I do, however have to wear a stream of toilet paper around my head as the dye was only serving to stain the rim of my red Stetson. Also, I've had a leather hip case made up so I can carry my adding machine everywhere with me which is coming in so handy when I get the urge to count how many items our local Kmart has for sale.
Props and costume aside, I have taken a more 'method' approach to the role. Very Hoffmanesque of me I know, but I want this to be right! I place a chip of rock salt under my lower eye lid every morning and night to get the flow of tears looking natural. It looks a little lumpy until it begins to dissolve, but I've learned that using the really big chunks is plain silly and that the smaller chips work just as well believe it or not. Something to keep in mind. I have even taken to walking up to stangers to ask if they are waiting for a mating call and as soon as the bruises subside I think I'll be ready for makeup. And as for the back seat scene, I've practiced on every bit of furniture in my, and other people's homes, at work, and once last week I truly felt that I had nailed the essence of the role when I practiced on a bus shelter seat not even needing padding under my knees. This moment was truly a proud moment for me as an audience quickly gathered and just couldn't take their eyes off my performance. Even a bus delayed its departure to observe my portrayal. I knew at that moment, it was worth sKraG fighting Mandy and Kelda for this part because I will bring such life to the character.
So in short, I think I'm ready. Just give the word "Action" and I'm there!
I'm off now to do some serious barrel racing around the traffic lights at the main intersection down the road. I like using the traffic poles as they don't tend to fall over if I cut in too closely. I do it on foot of course as a horse world only draw too much attention and the drivers would probably get distracted in their cars.

Unless you want to be rapped around me for atleast 5 mins I doubt you would want to play the jumper. Unless you want to just play it when it is laying on the bed cause then "Ennis" AKA Mandy! can run his/her hands over you and smell you before putting you in a cupboard. It is your choice!

Dont know whether Becky's still looking for sheep, but today, looking out of my office window and seeing those grazing white furry fluffy woollies, I came along with idea of becoming the "official provider of sheep" for the C.T. reinactment of BBM. Here in Sardinia we've got Sheep Aplenty, Sheep Galore, so just ask...and I'll be glad to airmail a shipment (or should I say a sheepment?).
Or maybe production could be moved here, with you folks to folllow; I've also got my personal BBM, actually a mountain-island. Just let me know...

Who cares if the vegetation is a little more tropical, I'm sure the wine's better than that cheap chablis that Cassie drinks in Wyoming (and beats the whiskey too!). As the Chilean sheepherder #1, I'll go to Sardinia in a heartbeat, and it will make it easier for Sheepherder #2 (Fuzzy) coming from South Africa. So, what colour are the paint brands, or do you have brands there, Luigi?

Although I gave up wine for Lent and I haven't started back in yet. Waiting for the right opportunity!
This would be definitely a good opportunity to start again chewing on some great wines. Yes, we've got great Super Sardinians too (even Super Piedmontese as well, as I come from there), and definitely better food than those beans (I'm too sick of beans, though I like Bettermost!). And we could also invite the original cast in order to supervise production. Can you imagine a reinactment involving all us Brokies along with the original cast, here in Sardinia. Actually a BBM by the sea reinactment. And as I said I can provide the mountain too: it's called Tavolara and it's a beautiful mountain island coming out of one of the azurest seas you can imagine. It's kinda magic and one of the most onyrical places I can imagine of and perfect for re-creating romance.

The tent looks perfect Anke, but it may have to be a little bigger so it could fit the casting director/production manager in there. What? I have to make sure the chemistry is right! ;)
I am so impressed with your willingness to find a prop for us with out me even asking, Anke! You are definitely my new Prop Manager...that is if you want the job. Of course you could take any of the other cast members if you want aswel.(just flick back a couple of pages). Alright the current job situation:

I know! No one wants to be in my play anymore :'(. Maybe it is cause everyone has got a part already. Come on you slackers! Where are you all? I have had to split my talent 3/4 ways just to fill the roles and mine must be the most demanding of all, I mean how many people can play a peeing sheep and an elk aswel as being production manager? I dare you to tell me atleast two. ;D The least you all could do is cast yourself as some tiny role or if you already have a role take the smaller ones, I mean I am taking a large chunk out of my hour on the computer as I am all the way in Canada and have taken the time to post this so the least you can do is humour me, go on you know you want to! ;)

Since Jenny snagged the role of Jack's horse with the low startle point (grr... >:( ) I was wondering if the role of Ennis' horse Cigar Butt has been taken? If not, I'd like that role. If it HAS been taken, I guess i could be a spooked mule!
The other role I was hoping for if it is still available is that of the Sage truck driver who gives Ennis a ride at the beginning. I've been practicing my lines (that we can't hear, of course)--- "Where ya headed?" and "You bet." because we know the only words Ennis may have mumbled would be 'Signal' and 'Thank you.' Of course, if you give me artistic license, I might embellish my lines a bit to include..... "Hey, glad to have met you, Ennis Del Mar, you really helped pass the time on this long drive. With all yer chattin, I mean.... and if you run into that Jack Twist fella I was tellin' ya about, just tell 'im Hank says 'Hey'.. he'll remember me." <wink>

I still don't know how we are going to do this on-line. Anyway I am taking my bladder to Wales for a week so have fun without me and as Ray has said you guy may have to fill in some scenary while you twidle your thumbs waiting for me to return and reprise my role as peeing sheep. ;D

Well, becky, I hate to be picky but you have to pee as a sheep first before you can reprise that role! But since you're taking your bladder to Wales, and I know they must have some mighty fine hills to pee on, I guess that when you get back from there you'll be ready to grace us with your reprisal.

I think that if we were gonna do it online, we'd have to break down the scenes one by one and call those cast members to report for posting duty at an agreed upon time--might be a bit of a trick to sync up the Aussies and such with the US crowd, but where there is a will, there is a way. When I was in artschool in highschool, we had Bread and Puppet come to do a play with us (they're an awesome, larger-than-life puppet show company that travels internationally), and the only time everyone could be at rehearsal together was 6 am, so that's when we did it! It was awesome.
