Thanks for posting this, Brrother Patrrick!  Do you know where/when it's from?

All that I know is from the date of the file which is Tuesday, November 10, 1998.  The original is a GIF and slightly better quality.  LOL I can't remember what I did yesterday, let alone 1998.  Glad you enjoyed the pic!

Title: One Wish
Post by: Daniel on January 23, 2007, 08:54:06 pm
"If you had one wish, what would it be?"
All too often is this question asked of me.
I have no answer, no swift, easy reply.
But I know a tale of one with such a plight:
One wish to spend, and make it right.
It's mostly false, as true tales are,
but filled with truth, for teaching hearts.

There was a man who thought himself greater than all others.
He sought the truth of his Bible, and of his Christian brothers.
The ways of purity he thought he knew,
His heart was just, his sins were few.
One night he dreamed, as he often did,
Of the angels, on his clean white bed.
One came down to speak with him. Her hair gleaming like fire.
Her skin glowed with the milky light of true holy desire.
She knew the man thought himself holy, and that he had much to learn.
For the truest knowledge evaded him, of heavenly ascension and hellish burn.
But still she took pity on him and offered her trust.
And there he spoke with his holy lust.
He greeted her and cried in her presence.
She smiled, and nodded in acquiescence.
When her musical voice was turned
The man listened scarce alarmed.
"If you had but one wish in all the world,
to where would your heart be hurled?
To a heavenly plane of unearthly beauty,
Or the hellish fires of sinful duty?"
The holy man replied with joy,
His heart leaped up; he danced like a toy
to be given this rare glimpse of divinity.
The angels eyes mirrored all eternity.
She waited for his response.
So he became still in the angelic space,
thought long and hard on this one case.
What could he wish that would bring the Lord's light
upon the Earth in all its sight.
What could he wish that would make the world pure,
and then through its light be the immortal lure.
The grace of the heavens weighed down on his plate.
Did he but realize it, flames lapped at his feet.
And then he thought he had it, a wish to hearts untie.
A wish that would make the world better, and make evil die.

"I wish that no homosexual was ever graced with birth,
that no catamite or sodomite ever walked the planet Earth."

The angel's expression remained serene.
Of all the heavens she could be queen.
"So it is this great sin you would undo.
Granted, but first, let me show something to you."
The angel reached out her light and took the parson's hand.
With glorious wings they quickly flew across a spirit-land.
There stood two doorways, amethyst and ruby.
The holy man wondered what they could be.
"These doors show your destiny,
for even now I will let you free
from the wish which you've just made."
The light in her eyes began to fade.
Fiilled with pride and religious dignity was the holy man's stance.
"I've made the right decision. Let me have my inheritance."

The angel nodded, sullen in sadness' twists.
She turned the parson toward the door of amethyst.
With a wave of her hand, the doorway became
a window of liquid water and flame.
"Then see what travesty your wish invokes
Upon the wheel of common spokes."
The world of fiery darkness which in that window appeared,
was not the one he'd hoped to see, but rather that he'd feared.
"But..... how can this be?"
He asked in baffled mystery.

"No Nazi code ever broken allowed them free entry,
and the world's a much crueler place with no Statue of Liberty.
No Eiffel Tower ever built to represent the people of a nation.
No Sistine Chapel ever painted to bring the soul's elation.
60,000,000 voices call out from the dredges of slavery...
Why is it that you shake, dear sir. Have you no bravery?"

The angel waved her hand across the portal once more.
Its liquid trembled then froze within the door.
The images that flew across its surface haunted the holy man.
He saught to avert his eyes. Sweat down from his forehead ran.
With a firm but gentle grasp, the angel turned him towards
the world that he'd created, giving him his just rewards.

"No Declaration of Independence written to make a man his own.
No Republic ever founded within the streets of Rome.
And who has ever heard good of this Democratic affair?
The Greek state lies in ruins, if ever it was there.

"No Bard of Avon defeated the sword.
No Walden's Pond ever saw word.
Much of poetry is now lost to an uncertain fate.
The poems that helped men make love out of hate.

"No David ever Goliath slew.
No state of Israel made new.
Without the traditions set forth by one Alexander,
the world is left to wonder and meander
through the darkest age it had ever known.
See now, what seeds you've sown?
No Renaissance ever birthed man's souls.
No Philosopher ever stoked the coals
of his own inner being, questioning it freely.
His wonder was found to be unseemly,
when all things were laid out so plain:
the lack of choices already set the game."

The parson stood and looked on in dread.
His heart and soul encased in lead,
he turned to the angel, who waited, eyes covered.
"Let me undo this wish, dear angel, I'll make another."
The angel held her hand aloft.
"Too late, now that your voice is soft,
No other wish can be made.
The stone is set, the piece is played."
She watched him squirm in his misery,
and was herself overcome with pity.
"You can undo this wish and return to your bed.
But tell me, what goes through your head?"
The parson looked up with some relief.
"Oh thank you, dear angel, I'll be brief:

"I swear by the heavens, I'll make up for this harm that I've done.
I wish for all those born with homosexuality to be born with none."

The angel turned away from him, her voice rising with ire.
"I cannot grant your wish, I said. Your offer has expired."
The angel turned back again, her eyes lit with blazing fire.
"And even if I could, do you think it would change desire
or make a better world than the one which you made there?"
The parson shrugged and shook his head.
He wanted nothing more than to be back on his bed.
"What makes you think that all those things that were inspired:
the art, the literature, technology, and spirit's fire,
were not all bound in that very thing, the very same device,
that you would strip from them: their "sin" in your eyes?"

"But the Bible speaks of the men of Sodom-"
"Who lost all reason and sense of wisdom
when blinded by their lust." The angel spoke with seas of flame,
trying desperately not to blame.

"And what of the laws of Leviticus? Should we not hear these as well?"
"They speak of the ritual sexual acts, darkness forbidden in Hell."
The angel sighed and knew that he
was not as spiritual as he seemed.
"Too many times has the Bible been translated, and used for power's sake.
It's hard to follow the rules there, the letters too easily shaked.
Men treat it like a game of Scrabble, and make what laws they will.
Read with your heart, not your eyes. Some are from God, and some evil."

"Did not Christ speak against the very treas-"
"No" her voice thundered with the depths of the seas.
"He never mentioned it, not once, but shook the eon,
when he healed the Beloved of the Centurion."

The angel stepped from his path, the ragged holy man,
Who could find no other argument in his plan.
Crestfallen, pride broken, his spiritual strength
Pushed him from the amethyst, a great length.
He moved with the slowness of some lost soul,
uncertain, and weary, afraid that he'd fall.
She stepped behind him once again and held her hand aloft.
The holy light caressed his back like a feather, warm and soft.
And with the gentlest nudge, she sent,
the parson, now pardoned and bent,
through the ruby portal to his own rest,
where he landed upon his chest,
in the cool, silk sheets of his white, tasseled bed.
He awoke in the darkness and groped at his head.
Looked up in the silent darkness, felt no calm.
He looked at his watch, then lifted his palm.
He stood from the bed and then fed his fish,
Wondering at all that had come from one wish.

Oops... I just realized I posted this on Brother Patrick's thread instead of my own. I must have had two windows open or something.... Well I guess I'll keep it here if no one minds. It was kind of in response to the subject (first message) of this thread.

I also realized the poem's rather cynical in regards to religion, but not contentionally so, in my opinion. I have the greatest respect for any religious follower, including the Christian. If my words have caused harm, as they often do against my will, I sincerely apologize.

never fear ;;daniel.  in my way of thinking nothing in this life is ever totally an accident.  and if you have placed this poem here, it will serve its purpose..one you yourself may never even know... so i thank you for this..and thank you for placing it here. it shows also  we mortals may very well make worse mistakes, while trying to correct what we consider mistakes..that may well be the way it should be and should have been all along....                                                     janice

So there's a reason my friend
that you dropped in this day
to show a monk that seeking holiness as a goal
is not the right way.

And it gives me the opportunity to show Milli some of MY art...
And it's somewhat mystical because it doesn't print well.  It has been to the right on my all black wallpaper for years on all of my computers.  To me it seems like a stained glass window...    a portrait in light..

Because four tried to kill me, by bashing, etc., this is a subject dear to me, as I prefer to be safe as a gay man! As I still have my broken bones, nightmares and fears, I will always remember that beating because I was a gay man!

Surely many, maybe most, hopefully not all gay men... have been bashed by criminals in their lives, unfortunately!! ??

It really seems to be the most problematic in fundamentalist groups.  Luckily I don't know anyone who is bashing gays anymore.  I feel blessed.   But I live between Chicago & Milwaukee and it is a very progressive area.

For those fundmentalist peoples.  I want to just ... love the hate right out of them

I sometimes wonder if I could love an angry redneck hitting me with a baseball bat or pointing a gun at my head. Maybe I would be unable to at that moment and self preservation would be my top priority, but I hope if nothing else I would succumb to the hatred that person would be showing. That attacker would already be a victim, and I would not want to sink to that level.

I heard someone on the radio this moring say there is a lot of healing in forgiveness. I just hope I don't have to forgive anyone.  ;)

It's a tough one but I DON'T DO IT, The One Who IS does it THROUGH me so it's much easier than it sounds.    From the blood of martyrs the church is purified.   So, I sure understand how difficult this would be if I were trying to do it myself!  I would probably cuss them out and run like hell~!  I HAVE had a gun pointed at me because I was in a gay neighborhood in Chicago but the police came out of nowhere and captured the criminals who were robbing an older man and his young companion.   The One Who Is was protecting me even then.  I'm sure of it.

Most of these difficult experiences that you mention always require a GIFT to even get through them...   I bet it's happened to you a hundred times and you were not even aware of it.

Intellectually, that would be perfectly understandable~!  But Spirituality and our intellects aren't the same.   Think of how many times you have driven over a bridge.  A few months ago, one collapsed in Minnesota and killed a few people.   Normally, we have 'faith' that bridges work and don't even think about it.   Maybe you can see that from a new angle if you looked at that same 'trust' from a Spiritual standpoint?

Remember what I learned from my near-death experience:   NO FEAR   The One Who IS is Really Cool, dude~!  ::)

This is an important subject to me, and possibly to you all too, as you are freedom loving as well like I am!!

In the daily newspaper to-day, I read that their is hate-motivated gay assaults which are probed by the police in Hamilton., Ontario, Canada! The Hamilton police are looking for 3 suspects after two street assaults which were motivated by hate against gay men!! Both attacks happened last Saturday. A 23-year-old man walking with 3 female friends was attacked by 3 men who shouted anti-gay slurs; and that 23 year-old man was punched and kicked in the head  and upper body. Police note that a second man was also assaulted under similar ways within an hour by the same suspects (two white males and a darker complexion one).

It is noted since many gay men have been murdered in Canada by anti-gay persons, so an past respectible Federal Goverment member for many years acted and came out saying that he was a gay man, and that he wanted anti-gay hate laws.

When 4 tried to kill me, the police did not do anything when I told them that my attackers had left me for dead and had called me with gay slurs!!

I hope that there will be no more gay bashing neither in 2007 nor in 2008 nor any other times in our democratic countries. May these two men mention above in Hamilton get such help with anti-gay laws!

How can we stop such bashings?
I view this as important for all persons. Who is to say when one is a gay person? Even if you are gay, that is no reason for being murdered! Straights are surely often thought of to be gay men!!

Hugs!

Thanks Br. Patrick!!

There were some bad persons in the past who murdered needlessly many First Nations in America!! Some even did for the fun of it!! Some unfortunately still do!! Even to-day lip service or occupying such lands is a given in the USA, Canada, and Mexico!! Genocide too continues!! Have you seen recently December 30th on History channel the film: Windtalkers? Windtalkers saved even US whole platoons at times or so!!

In that movie based on facts, the First Nation (as Windtalkers) saved many American soldiers lives in the First, Second, and others wars and yet the US Army and Governments did not accept them with medals... later on only with certificates in the 80's and only lately Bush II with congretional recongnition!! Shame on the USA!! Shame on Canada... Since many had no army pensions or are now dead!!

There were many strangers (Europeans and others, plus American or Canadian borns too) who got along with First Nations... too!! Many First Nations did too get along very well with some foreigners and others!! French-Canadiens born, for instance, did very well with many First Nations... saving some; and, many First Nation saved them too!!

Some First Nations accepted gay men!! So, I feel that many such gay men were murdered because it was not an orient nor european way of life to accept gay men!!

I remember one man who was USA born, and who had been a soldier in the USA forces on a boat. After doing his years (his time) in the American forces, he and I wrote each other letters, and then he visited me often. And he became to live on the street. While I took him in for months, I was told later on by him that he had a right to his american soldier pension, which he applied for... but the US government gave him trouble for that since they asked for proof. He showed me his discharged paper from the US army (navy) which copy he had sent them. He bewildered as to why that was not proof! I wondered too! Now, he has deceased... he had been living on the street!! I wonder now if that was so questioned by the US governement because he was a gay man?? !!

Gash bashing takes many forms?? Let us all decent men fighting against such atrocities!! How?

Is talking and writing real stories one way to pursue for justice and feedom??

Thanks Br. Patrick!!

My Great-Great-Great Grandfather came from Ireland with his 12 year old son, Jeremiah, and landed in Quebec, I've been told.   He quickly died of Cholera which was rampant at that port in 1832.  His son, my Great-Great Grandfather travelled everywhere, working as a Steamship porter on the Mississippi and then after marrying, made two trips to the California Gold Rush.  Gay people run on both sides of my family as far back as I can trace them.   There was always the single son or daughter who chose not to marry and it shows up in the Census records.  My Great Grandfather John built a house on his property for his beloved daughter Ruth.   She is buried right next to him.  I am sure she was gay, there are PICTURES!  It still continues in all of my cousins to this day.  I have no information of how he treated First Nations but from what his obituary said, he was well loved and left what is still the largest single family in Lake County Illinois.

How do we fight?

For me, the first would be with prayer and I would join any local demonstration for Gay Rights AND we've got BETTERMOST~!

NO MORE HATE IN 2008!

Your post is very heart warming! You are kind!

I am happy that you have been in some Reservations! Been priviledged, I have, to known and continue some friendships with some First Nations. And so your have some First Nation in you, may I ask?

Bears, you can see some here. Last year, a cub was up a tree about 60 feet away in neighbour backyard, as noted by my mother's dog when my gay brother brought him out to walk! Not that many years ago, a bear came to mother's house to pick up the garbage!

We usually had moose or deer come into the back neighbour garden!!

Ever seen a moose?

Yes, the US, Canada, (and others it seems), do NOT care about First Nations!! And they pay lip services to too many First Nations, robbing them! You have read some of my posts on that? It's a form of genocide, I think towards First Nations, unfortunately which continues towards some!! More on that if you like to know?

I suppose many would bash a gay First Nation guy, but First Nation(s) did NOT, and respected gay men!! Did you know?

Au revoir,

That really is sick~!  I have a straight friend, John, who is leaving today to go to China for a month to spend more time with his "mail order wife."  Can't blame him for being lonely but I have been cautioning him left and right about what the Chinese think about US and especially HIM because he's a large, husky 40 year old man.

His mail order wife, so he must be not just lonely, may I dare say!

China commits crimes, which are incredible, like calling Tibet tribal, but what is so advanced about China murdering innocent persons in Africa for FREE gas, isn't that TRIBAL of China?

And murdering gays too?

May I say that I will not pray for your straight friend for him to straighten up his life and respect others and especially HIMSELF, but not for him to get his mail-order person!! You know why?

Believe me, Artiste, I have been trying to tell this guy what he is getting into for the past year.   Even got some answers in prayer for questions he needs to ask the woman.   I would say, pray for him, but pray that God to engineer his circumstances according to His Will and then John will make the right decisions / come to his senses.

He has lingering doubts and that is a GOOD thing~!

So why would you not pray a prayer like the one above so the Right things will happen to him?

The "mail-order" thing is what I call it.   They "met" on the Internet.

First Nations in America have been here for over 6,000 years, as proofs are now being found that might be over or about 10,000 years, at the beginning of civilisations - and maybe were here before or same time as the being as Africans were starting to be so-called humans ! ?

As for moi as some blood lines,  far as known Objiwa is one of the First Nations!

And another, especially on mother's side is the First Nation Montagnais !

I just walked up to one of them and asked if he was First Nation or just dressed that way.  He said he was First Nation and seemed pleased.  I then showed my (now corrected) ignorance and asked "Which Tribe?" and he said Ojibwa.   I told them I have a friend (in Illinois) who is part Chippewa and he said that they were the same thing.   I knew that and nodded so.  He said "divide and conquer..." and I agreed with him.   I then told them I had a friend in Quebec that I communicate with on the Internet.  I told him I didn't know which 'tribe' (now corrected.. ( I should have said Nation.. )).  Then he went back to his work but seemed pleased at my interest.

You have raised my consciousness greatly in how I react to First Nations.   Now I have to learn from you what is right and wrong to say.   I know of the problem with the word "squaw" but not much else.  But just knowing that your proper title is "First Nation" for all the Nations is something I will never forget.    Even before it was 'politically correct' to portray First Nations as the 'good guys' in movies, I always felt that it was YOUR land after all.   I am proud to know a gay brother who is First Nation.

Your post is appresiated like your ways were with that First Nation Ojibwa was too!!

Yes, it is very bad to use the word squaw !
..........

Did you get his name ?

........

Talking about names, I noted that Gladys, my First Nation Ojibwa lady friend, never wrote Miss nor Mrs. in her letters !! But I kept writing on my envelopes Miss, since she is not married, when I sent her letters! So, I asked the art gallery director who is also Ojibwa, and he told me that Mr., Mrs., Miss, etc., are nominatives that Europeans brought over! Since, the Ojibwa never did used those words, they still do not. So, it is this culture now for me to write ONLY: Gladys and her last name... now when I write to her!

Much I can learn yet!

I was thinking of you earlier this month because of the anniversary, but I have not been online much to post.  I hope you are doing well.  I miss our chats.

I lost several movies in my detritus moving from Cali to Seattle, which I finally found today (stuffed in the back pocket of a work-type portfolio of all places.  ::)

At any rate, Victor/Victoria was among the missing, so I'm going to watch it tonight before I send it back to Netflix for my refund.  ;)

I thought my anniversary would make me happy but it only made me 'homesick.'  Things are so "right" there.   Polly is very busy and rarely has time to email and I lost my friend MaryBeth when I came out to her (says a lot about HER, doesn't it?) so YOU, my dear, and Milli are my only communicating girlFRIENDs!

That makes me very happy.   Hope things are working out 'perfectly' for you~!

I should send MaryBeth a condolence card, she has lost part of herself and don't realize it.

She's the pastoral minister at church and she used to be a Dominican Nun; she always said she couldn't handle it because of all of their 'nunny' ways.  Since she is so warm and accepting as a person, I never connected the dots...  Until she visited me one day after I had found out that Janice's brother committed suicide because the Doctor's told him he was probably homosexual;  I thought Janice was talking about an event years ago - when homosexuality was still on the books as a 'mental illness' but no~!  It happened around 1995~!!!!  I have this problem with anger.  If I get angry and there is adrenaline in my system, it turns into RAGE~!   Marybeth saw me that morning and I was pissed off, to say the least.  (I now have a medication that stops the possibility of this happening.)

When I told her that I came out at 19 in 1973, I was comparing dates.   It was OK in 1973 -  and not in 1995????   She saw me at my worse and said later she could no longer have me as a friend because of the rage.  Now this is the same woman, who in 2004, acting in her capacity as a Registered Nurse, helped me get to the Psych Unit in the hospital because I had had a breakdown and was RAGING to her, calling her every name in the book!

I didn't try to hide anything from this woman.  I have a 3'x5' BBM Poster in my living room!  It seems everybody knows I'm gay once they get to know me and that is OK.  It's just with her, the subject never came up until that morning.

NOW I understood why she couldn't handle 'nunny' ways because 99% of Nuns are lesbians!  Same ratio for males in religious orders.   So, it became obvious why the woman looked so butch anyway.   She won't even admit it to herself.   You're right - she lost a very big part of herself.   Maybe what happened will turn out to be a blessing.  If one cannot accept oneself unconditionally, how can one minister to others?  I DO pray for the woman every day.

Ranting over..  Back to normal.    I really do feel SORRY for her.

No, I just took the pictures.  After all, the event was MADE for photo's and lots of people were taking pictures.   It had people in all kinds of old time clothes.   I took another one of him when he was passing by me but the light was too dark - so he easily saw that I was taking pictures.  I'm sure he didn't mind.

Wow, that is alful. Reminds me of that song from Donnie Darko.

People come into this life like one of those fountains in Las Vegas that shoots a stream of water out of a pool, it flies thru the air completely seperate, collecting the carbon, the gnats, the desert dust, and dives back into the pool. It is like our souls in this world, we are born all happy and clean and the crap we pick up along the way turns us into something else.

I agree that Mary Beth is the one missing out by denying herself friendship with a wonderful man.  Too often stupid things get in the way of what should be simple, love, acceptance, ease... sad when that happens for whatever reasons - missed opportunities abound.

Truman - I like the Vegas fountain metaphor.  It seems to me that could be a reason BBM resonates the way it does - somehow the catharsis (insert better word) provides a purging of life pollution, somehow taking us back to the more pure earlier years.

Thanks for the hugs br.p !

Regarding your question which you pose, it is a good one !  I do not find it shocking that you are asking; I am very happy that you  ask such !!

What is shocking is that it does happen to me often or at times ! What is more shocking is that it happens very often to gays but I/we/you do not know that, do you ?

I know of many of my friends who have been murdered because they were gay men, and some other gays I heard about likely so too because of that !

I think that because we, gay men, tend to be kind persons; like helping others: even help straights ! And that makes us, gay men, very vulnerable to be hit upon, in many different ways, like bashings we get by straights or vultures, being stolen, lied to often, even murdered ! We, gay men, are too kind !

I often have been told by many that I am too kind, as in helpful, with my money as I got so many bad cheques in my life so far that others have given me, I gave money for food and have feed many, and even given shelter (in my house) to homeless even to straights ! I helped two Americans soldiers have a roof for months in my house and feed them, so they get back on their feet, as two examples, especially protecting them in Canada... from being murdered ! Others gays, I protected and helped also in the USA when I lived there at many places !

Because of my numerous voyages in the United States and Canada in order to participate at exhibitions of my paintings I created, I lived in many cities like in Vermont; Toronto; Los Angeles; Vancouver; San Francisco; Montreal; New York City, N.Y.; etc.; and, therefore, have seen many persons, much homeless, depressed, etc., and even have been helped too in numerous ways by Americans and Canadians/Canadiens, First Nations, and others - and am grateful to all - straights and non-straights, of many cultures and religions and non-religious ! And too by others in non-North America !

Joyeux Noel -
Merry Christmas br.p !

You bring up a valid point.  Since I live in my hermitage, the only contact with outside news is what I see on the opening screen on YAHOO.COM.  And you have been around.  Be assured that your many kindnesses will not go unrewarded.  I sheltered a homeless man for 5 years and he beat me up badly several times.  But it wasn't because I was gay, specifically.  He had an anti-social personality disorder, what used to be called a PSYCHOPATH.  I still am reaping the rewards for that time.

It is good to know someone like you so we all can stand together and stand PROUD~!

Our particular monastery wasn't healthy, psychologically.   When my mother died right in front of me in 1988, I went into a deep, deep depression.   My doctors kept recommending that I get out of the unhealthy environment but I thought that meant I had to leave Religious Life completely.  I then found out that I could live outside if I could be self supporting.  I filed for Social Security disability in 1997 and was approved.

There are only three Brother Monks living outside of their monasteries in the U.S.

Being a hermit means I spend most of my time alone.  I like it that way.

Merci beaucoup for your honest and warm reply, by your post Br. Patrick !

I think that I can understand a bit or more what you are saying !

I can feel that we are attached to our mothers. Death is shocking especially when its arrival is sudden?

This morning there was a TV live program that mentioned about life as well death. There will be World survey done soon in many countries about that. Some persons dead (brain wise) have come back to life, you know ? And some have said to have been out of their body and come back too ? One shocked his nurse when he asked back from life, that she goes to the other room to get his false teeth for him, since he was in brain dead (blue state) then when she did that !

There is a book out by someone... I heard to-day.

You likely know more about life and death now, may I ask ?

You think that we go from one body to another ?

Artiste, when I 'died' on August 12, 2007, at the very moment of passing from life into death something strange occurred.  I haven't mentioned this in my Near-Death thread because I don't remember the EXACT WORDS and I think that is important in passing along what truly happened to me.

SO, with that Caveat..   I was asked if I wanted a new life, like go back and be born into another body and having another "LIFE."  I said something to the effect of "NO WAY" and I passed over.

When I don't remember the exact words, I do not trust the SOURCE of the information.  SO this could have been a not so friendly spirit.  I didn't see anyone, I just heard the voice.

Oh there was one more thing.. After I said 'NO WAY' I was told something to the effect that I had not always said that which implied that I had chosen to go back in the past.

I DO NOT TRUST THIS INFORMATION.  It is only that you asked.

This is one of the reasons that I never posted it before.  I knew that there would be questions.  I DID tell my Cousin and she is delighted.  She is also spiritually in bad shape.   But that is not for me to change.   The line means exactly what it says.  The 'entity' talking to me implied that this had happened before and I DID go back.   To me it is just an 'unfriendly' spirit getting in the way of my transformation.  It really makes no difference to me.  I sure don't want to come back and can't understand why anyone would.  Life is too hard~!

Merci frère Patrick,

My brother who just died a few days ago had such pains. I remember once seing his back which was with a big red spot so red that it was like fire !

Mother has also brokens bones, most of them except two, as she used to pick men as she worked in an Old Age Home, in order to help them ! So, it's very hard for her to walk ! And for months, she drag  herself more slowly that an turtle! She walks better now having endured that and still has many pains; she saw a right chiro lady who really helped her; plus she cures herself in different ways and prayers helps too !!! Plus she eats like crasy: as if she is an teenager, enjoying life !

Since, 4 called me f.g..t and tried to kill me all at once, they beat me up with 2 by 4s, glass, etc., and left me for dead, so my bones are broken too, and they don't know that I enjoy still my life ! God saved me as they taught that I was dead. I enjoy writing to you even if my fingers are in pain !

And life is ups and downs as you know. Get well... you will more and more !

I long for your posts,  cherishing them mon ami !

Au revoir, hugs!  You are seeing doctors, dentists, eating right ??? Not to worry to much about gay bashing, as you are being preventative ? You pray still for best ? May I ask ?

As I have maybe mentioned that my brother, just deceased, figured that his medical doctor, neglected him for years, at least two because he had asked his doctor for tests, etc., but that doctor refused !

Before his death, my brother Jacques mentioned that to the College of Surgeons which told him (Jacques) and I, that Jacques has a case !

Now, I am wondering if that doctor did that as gay bashing ?

Merci Br. Patrick !

Yes, it is terrible that my brother, that my buddy/lover, that myself and others, had possible, likely probable homophobic medical doctors.

Concerning my past brother, he reported his doctor to the College. That College told him that he has a case - so rare that such a college agrees! Since my brother told me that case must be continued and askedme, I am to do so soon. Because my brother (Jacques) was not married, maybe that doctor taught that Jacques was gay ? Reason to think so, but not to purpose withdraw medical help, right?

It remains that that doctor must be examined for other patients he maltreated too, because my brother found out that others were dead because of lack of help from that doctor - they were all non-married men!

That said, there are also medical doctors who are real ones who help you, no matter what your sexual orientation nor religion, etc., but one must be careful, right since there are two faces out there too?

Do you think that one betters humanity when such a doctor is reported or should one be silent about it??

How are you? Pray that you are better and better cher Patrick and tell us please.

Au revoir,
hugs!  In advance,
Joyeux Noel, Merry, Merry, Merry Christmas to you to your brother, family, friends, and more and more health and happiness every as you desire !

I think it is one's duty to report malpractice.

As a matter of fact, I will soon be doing that in the near future to a specialized dentist who charged the Monastery when I am on Disability and have Full Coverage.   The Monastery's money in the most part came from little old ladies on fixed income all over North America.   It is Good Stewardship to use this money appropriately.

It is always important to try to stop criminals,
even if it is a doctor doing such wrongs?

That is so for me... to try to stop such criminals!

Because anti-gay hate and acts do not help neither gays nor others,
because it kills sprituality!

What do you think?

Au revoir,
hugs!  No reason for gay-bashing nor for any others to be hurt; now to-day is the longest day and so cold that some homeless froze to death in our countries, so it is best to try to help humanity ! In New Hampshire ten of thousands had no electricity, no heat (too?) for 9 days already, so we can act to help somehow!

It is always important to try to stop criminals,
even if it is a doctor doing such wrongs?

That is so for me... to try to stop such criminals!

Because anti-gay hate and acts do not help neither gays nor others,
because it kills spirituality!

What do you think?

We need MORE PEOPLE like you who stand up proudly for the rest of us.   I am indebted to you.   Things HAVE to be FINE in 2009!

Merci beaucoup  Br. Patrick !

I have been looking forward to your post and may I thank you!

Your kind words are heart warming to me!

I am hoping like you do that there will be no more gay bashing in 2008 and none in 2009!!

But, if you heard the Pope yesterday/two days ago, it seems that gays are less important then wood!
And I can not figure out how we (gays) can destroy mankind/life on Earth as the Pope the Vatican says!

I find his position more nad more dangerous  against gays and now that that renews gay bashing again, and maybe an increase of murders because gays are gays! Do you find that terrible too?

Words do hurt or aid humanity - I say!

Awaiting your news,
Happy and Merry Christmas Eve!

A mother in Scotland has admitted an anti-gay attack - on her own teenage son. Celia Duncan, 42, hurled abuse at Stuart O'Neil, 16, who she had thrown out of home for being gay, when she saw him walking with his boyfriend. And she sent him offensive text messages when...

Yes and your picture illustrates them.   Their feast day is January 6th, the 12th day of Christmas, and it is called Epiphany (meaning manifestation) because it was the first time that Jesus, God made Man, was revealed to the world.

That also reminds me of a Prince in India who came on Oprah's show this year and, he, a gay man of a religion that do NOT accept gays, was asked by her: How is It That You are Accepted (Or not Killed?), and he replied: I feed the poor...; so I can understand this Prince so that, his actions of gift of help, can help so that there will be no-gay-bashing!

One way, any others?

Giving in any way is a very special thing because it is always returned to you - tenfold, a hundredfold or even a thousandfold.

Give without the thought of what you might get out of it and you're on the right track.

Did you ever see some churches in  Québec?

Come by planning now, see my exhibition in Montreal next September 21 to September 28th 2009  ?

When you are in such a place as a church, you do not think that anyone would gay-bash someone!

Two, in their ways were for no more gay bashing:
Actor Penn, a straight man, wants gay marriages for gays FREEDOM!

And so did say writer for LIBERTY Dustin Lance Black who said that he was a gay man and wanted that freedom to marry!
No matter what a church can say in negatives against that!

I think that ANYTHING by ANYBODY that can be done to STOP THE HATE is Worth Supporting.  But I have to remember just how far we have come since the 1969 Stonewall Riots in NYC!  40 years from being arrested and your name being printed in the newspaper that you were at a Gay Bar until TODAY where there are even Government Ads (I've seen them) saying just how wrong it is to say "That's so gay!"  In the 6000 years of Judeo-Christian persecution to have all this change in 40 years is nothing short of Miraculous!  Sure there will probably always be people who attack Gay People.   See the first post in this thread to find out where THEY are coming from..

Stay in the 'moment' and the past and future cannot harm you, even if you are the target of gay-bashing.

Any other news about Lent?

Only that the word means 'spring' and everything renews itself in spring.  The old is replaced by the new.  A good time for taking personal inventory on your personality, possessions, and priorities.  Not to give oneself guilt but to free oneself from unnecessary ideas, unimportant involvement with things AND to really LOVE each other.  I realize it is extremely difficult to love a person such as a Gay Basher but that is what that person needs or else he wouldn't be taking his personal inadequacies out on other people.

And have some fun too..

The homeless "straight" guy that I sheltered for 5 years NEEDED to be loved, admired and so forth from Gay men.  Part of him wasn't straight and he knew I knew it.   It's the people with just the tinest bit of gayness in themselves who bash gays.  They are not in the closet, they are in a VAULT!   So they compartmentalize that part of themselves and project their nonacceptance of it on healthy Gay people.

Primarily, hatred of themselves that they have repressed into their subconscious.  BUT the feelings are there and if THEY see a male that 'sets off' this hidden part of themselves, they go into a rage.   Psychologists used to call these people Latent Homosexuals as this thread begins with.

................

Br. Patrick, I can see that totally as you say, or partially.

To me non-acceptance of self and humanity,
it's a major concern in civilisations to-day,
(and will get worse),
but how can that be
1- prevented,
2-modified,
or
3-not-at-all become so that rage or murderous state???

1- Concerning prevention, maybe the free world is becoming  to accept or like homosexuals? -
But there still remains many civilisations that need to be educated about gays being humans like any other human, and even in ours? So any prevention can be done?
So schools and what else are important for that education???

2- Regarding modified, even when one is placed into prison as that person murdered a gay man, there is
no service to teach that gays are acceptable in society? So those murderers of gay men continue to do so, once out of prison?

3- If one can see more on TV, etc., about bashing and hatred and how to see that and combat that to bash and to hate thoughts maybe leading to violent actions, then maybe there would be no harm done to gays?

Your posts and that of others who can post here too, are always welcome and helping,

I know I said this before but it bears repeating.  The US Government has an AD Council through which they present issues relative to the times we live in.   These 15-30 second TV spots are put randomly into Broadcasters schedules.  I saw an AD which said "That's so gay" is offensive.  They then showed a women wearing an unusual blouse.  They said "You wouldn't say, "That's so top."  They implied the rudeness of the situaltion.  Then they simply said, "STOP IT!"  The voices were teenagers and it was well done and effective.

Can't remember which Network showed this but I KNOW it wasn't LOGO.  I felt so proud when I heard it.

Thanks Jess, and thanks Br. Patrick !!

I just saw those two ads and I can now understand !

............

On a similar topic in a way, why are homosexuals not able to be free in Islamic countries, as I was listening the other day on TV that the King (Prince) in Saudi Arabia, rules according to the religion and that being gay is not accepted!
He did mention that in his country that he now allows men to vote in municapal elections (but females can not and they were cloth over their faces, and are all dressed in black, fully); also it was noted that men can divorse easily but females have to go to to him to request... but males do not need to do so at all !!

Now, that the men who delivered bread to an 80 years old lady there will get lashes and that she will too, I suppose that homosexulas will get those 40 lashes too, plus prison, or even beheaded since he was proud that over 200 or so were last year? !! So, gay bashings are prominent in Saudi Arabia and other muslim countries still?

It seems Muslim fundamentalists are Extremists to the Extreme.  All you have said is true.  I have watched a show on Cable TV that addressed the problems being gay and Muslim involves.   And they treat their women like possessions.

BUT we must remember that these are FUNDAMENTALISTS and the majority of the Muslim world is not caught up with reading the Koran literally.

Fundamentalism has been the root cause of so much hatred in so many areas..

Fundamentalist's "god" is their Scripture.   Problem is.. they won't let God GROW!  He is so much more than what has been written in the past 6000 years.   You would think that books with SO MANY contradictions would cause people to realize that these Sacred Books are to be read Spiritually  - NOT LITERALLY!  All of your citations were written in Holy Books.

A book is their weapon and hatred is their cause for anyone who disagrees with them.   A truly sad situation.. but I do try to love these people, they NEED to be loved.

I'm just coming out of an 8 month sabbatical that made me realize that LOVE is THE ANSWER for every problem on this planet.   From the smallest arguments to the Global Economy, if we only would put love at the very top of our priorities.   The best thing about it is the more that you give away, the more you receive.

ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE   ::)

Merci Br. Patrick!

That is very interesting your post!

Bon dimanche!  Have a wonderful and happy, and restful joyful Sunday!

Did you see the films:
The Priest an 1994 movie?

I Confess an 1953 movie?

That first one sure is interesting as it presents a gay priest! The other also accents the priesthood!
I would be happy to get your comments, please Brother patrick!

Seems to me I heard about "The Priest" but never saw either one of them.  Most of my movie watching is Old Movies.   And as I just heard on Turner Classic Movies, a movie isn't Old if you haven't seen it.

I have seen these two movies last saturday evening!

And you would be overjoyed by them, especially since it touches  priests!
And much more, of course! Even to-day's gay life/lives, with The Priest, 1994 movie!

Will you see them?

I can check for availability at amazon.com and when I can afford it, I definitely want to see "The Priest" - 90% of the priests I know are gay - not practicing, but gay nonetheless.

There is more to being gay than just SEX.

I don't think that gay priests are safer than anyone else.  It would be exceptionally shameful for them to be 'Outed' to their congregations because of being caught because of some unfulfilled sexual outing.  And when a priest (or a monk) goes about his business, we generally wear common clothing - nothing that would distinguish us from anyone else.  Clerical Clothing definitely has it's appropriateness depending on the work one is engaged in.  But as I learned on the last day of my novitiate retreat in 1978, wearing a habit does not make me a monk.  That comes from within.

As long as there are homophobes, there will be gay bashing.. to whoever.  They need to be LOVED.   To repeat a biblical topic, it's like pouring hot coals on their heads.   ::)

Danger is always around us.  We may be driving over a bridge and it collapses.  There are people who CAN'T travel over bridges because of their fear.  I sense that you have a loving compassionate spirit.  Could your fear of being gay-bashed have turned into a phobia? There are ways to deal with phobias.  Any library will have books on the subject.

For you, I would suggest just live in the NOW.. in the moment, realizing you have God watching over you, loving you.  Open yourself to this comfort.

You also may have an anxiety disorder, I do.  I take medication (Xanax) because without it, I could not leave my apartment.  Do you live in the midst of other First Nation people?  They may suggest a Doctor who could help you.

You are in my prayers, twice daily.   ::)

You do say a lot Br. Patrick!

And not much... too! Like life... is!

I still think that it is normal to be aware of one's own life, and that of others too!
To be protective of one's physical's life, to me, is normal, and likely is so for you too, right...  As one does not walk into a gang that could murder you easily, that is one way to be careful! I do not hang with criminals nor seek them!

That reminds me of a real story, one I was in and witnessed. I was in a park one day, and saw an old man was sitting on the grass, like I was, and everyone there was peaceful! But later on, came that afternoon, a gang, and they started to beat up the old fellow because he was old and that was fun for them. I could not jump right away alone in there and get beaten! Someone else saw that and we both came to his rescue. But why most did not... scares me! Even to-day! That does not bother you, are you saying...

What is worst to-day, is that gangs are more common and drugs wars are increasing, unfortunately. Maybe you are not aware that old as well as young persons are getting murdered for nothing, either for drugs habits of a drug taker or seller, or a gang for fun. Many gangs are now murdering innocent people for fun, more and more... in Canada, the USA and surely elsewhere! Even some gangs are in the USA killing for fun more and more  and getting away with that since not enough police, nor not enough ordinary citizens, ignorants or ignorant that fear, are demanding peace!

I do not need drugs to be at peace; I am a peaceful person and need protection when needed, but that is becoming rare. Have 4 beat you up because you are gay and left you dead in the afternoon... or you been called by 16 policemen who harassed you, your mother and staff, because the new so-called neighbours create lies to the police force and many other civic officials; what would you do...

And the lists go on...

How would you cope... Br. Patrick!

Be nice to know your intent and actions...

au revoir,
hugs!

What is a group other than a bunch of individuals working for a common cause.  I just wanted to show you just how far we HAVE come.  And we will go much, much further.

Just watched "Milk" on DVD that I bought on amazon.com.   Here is a heroic example of a man who gave his life for gay rights.  And what he started back in the 1970s continues to this very day.  I have a question for you that I have been wondering for some time.  You seem to be on the wrong end of the stick a lot when it comes to gay-bashing.  No judgement implied, but, are you so obviously gay that it makes those who could have the tiniest amount of homophobe in them want to attack you?

If I was sure that I would NOT offend you, I would ask something like "Are you a nellie queen?"  People can get uncomfortable when it is pushed in their face.

NO JUDGEMENTS IMPLIED.. just a simple question that you need not answer.

I do NOT at all accept certain words, never will for fa..ot !!!

Be assured that I am NOT a queen... nor which other word you used!!

I am very masculine looking and acting, but some cons know HOW to steal and beat up gays, I know now, and maybe you have seen that too!! Yes...

Gangs have fun stealing gays, ruining their reputations, and even beating them up and murdering them; do you know that...

I have lost my house to drug warlord who had gangs to kill me because I refused to sell it to him for only $5,000.00 even if it was worth over $200,00.00, did you know that...

Except some old folks, everyone thought that that foreigner passing himself as a decent citizen, thought that he was nice, even when he opened up 3 crack houses in our good neighbourhood and brought in kids from school to sell them happily drugs ( grade 5 elementary)... and so he continued his Islamic-drug warlordhip 24 hrs on 24 hrs murdering those who refused to buy illegal drugs they can never pay! How nice even pastors, priest., etc., thought he was and continued to think because he con them and kept on coning police force, city officials, etc. - these crooks do get around, do you know! And they continued to think well of him, even if they found out otherwise; were they scared or could not care less... tell me!

Au revoir,

STAND PROUD, Artiste, you are in good company here.  And yes, I too have been 'con'd' by a homeless sociopath whom I sheltered for 5 years even though he beat me badly several times.  But he wasn't like that all of the time, just when he drank hard liquor.  I was told in prayer not to reject this man or kick him out.   He is now a recovering alcoholic and has found God.

No matter how badly we are treated, the only way to treat others is with LOVE.

You see that I am the only one which had such hard times! Your story shows that!

I can understand what you say, because I took in a man I knew, for many years, since he lost his residence, and I got boiling water from him as he thought that I was a gay man making advances towards him; I did not like the second, etc. degrees, my skin had as that pot had much in it as it was full, and as I did not expect that from that straight man! I was NOT making advance at any time; at that time, I was boiling a chicken for supper for he and I to eat! And he took also the kettle with boiling water and left that too to burn me!

I wonder why straights think that gay want sex with them,
and I ask you that...

Boy is that the question for the ages.  Just because someone finds out you're gay they immediately assume you want to have sex with them.  I met such a man and asked him, "Do you want to have sex with a woman just because she is a woman?"

Some people have funny ideas about us.  As far as I can tell, we are identical, the only difference is that our objects of attraction are of the same sex.

Just because a person is gay doesn't mean one can't see beauty in the opposite sex.  Women can see another woman and tell if she is beautiful.  Gay men can do the same.  Straight men, or at least my friend John, doesn't look at a man's appearance to notice handsomeness.   That may be his particular hangup.  Anybody out there with similar friends?

I don't know.  I have a bad experience coming from a broken home.  I guess I would put this on a timeline.  Times change.  People change.   What is illegal today may be legal next year, or the next..

It IS a denial of people's rights to file joint income taxes and receive the benefits from that for sure.   But I wouldn't call that 'gay-bashing' - rather a generation that has had to deal with more social change than has ever happened in the past.   My mom worked in a Truck Stop as a cook.  When African Americans would come in, they were to ask, "What would like to go?  And seating was denied them.   Things were much worse in Southern States, I'm talking about Northern Illinois.   Something like that would be unthinkable and yet that was in the early 1960s.

Things you ask are good.  Slow down and enjoy the moment.   And be thankful for how far we have come.

I don't think any hospital would do that today.  It's OK to be 'OUT' whether people like it or not.  I would threaten the hospital with a lawsuit for violating your civil rights.  (BUT I would do it in the most loving way possible since some people have difficulties with the rapid changes that are happening in our society because of all of the publicity.)  i.e., Rhode Island just 'changed their minds' about gay marriage.  And what is happening in California is bringing all of the issues to public attention.  We just want what is due to us, nothing more.  (I am reminded of Women not being able to VOTE in the early 20th Century.)

To question the validity of that decision would be unthinkable.   Soon, the Gay Community will be seen in the same way.   It's a big step and things are happening faster than I ever dreamed that they would.

When I think of YOU, I think of how each First Nation WAS and CONTINUE TO BE treated so poorly by the U.S. Government and the States.   My dentist is setting up a free clinic in an incredibly poor Reservation in South Dakota.   First Nation populations are treated worse that gays are in many places.

Br. there is a big difference, between hoping and reality!

When I was asked by hospital person aware like I was of the murder happening of my gay friend, that is fact. That person asked me to phone as she was given a telephone number because she insisted like I did! So when I dial that number, I was ask my status and so I said partner !

Still the murder continued after the hospital awoke him, only temporary!

If you do not beleive me, it was also on TV news lately, that MDS are giving overdoses to murder patients! And nothing is done about that!

And so what is next now is to murder the aged, next the 60's, afterwards the 50's; I was only 50 years of age when an MD refused me to seek another doctor since I had cancer, he said! He kept saying that I was too old!!

Would you participate in such murders? No! Maybe when we are like blind as cons are smart?
