I think it's a twitch!  :D

But the only reason I think that is because I see straw laying on the ground, so I figured there must be some horses nearby.  :)

Well, Jess,   Hmmmmm could be a twitch, but the handle seems a little longer than I've seen before but maybe it's a Texas Twitch ya'all do everything bigger down there ;) , could be an ax handle, hell could be the handle of a reaper or a darn night stick..... Well Frack!  :-\   Hmmmmm......  I dunno, I'm going with the ax handle  8)  looks just like the handle of my Daddy's pick ax when you slip the head off.

addendum:  Bob just looked at it and pointed out that the hole and rope are on the WRONG-End to be an ax handle...nice going Dottie...Shhheeeessshhh...Maybe it is a big ol Texas Twitch.....that's OK ax handle's my guess and I'm sticking with it.

Hey Jess, I voted for this one, but what would I know about farm things?

What's a twitch?

I voted for the antique reaper.

I saw my uncle use a horse twitch a few times. He placed the roped end on the horse's lips and pulled him with it.

I thought it looked cruel, but my uncle said it didn't bother the horse.  :-\

Well it does bother them  :-\  that's why it works.  They are so distracted by the twitch that they don't pay attention when you have to give em shots and stuff.  Up in Montana ours are only about 20 inches long.  Told ya it was a big ol Texas Twitch...LOL     Please play again Jess it was a GOOD first attempt

the last time we had to use it was when we had a horse colic. Taking the tack that it is better to hurt him a little than let him die...but I always wince...it has to be painful!  :(
