Ewww. This looks really difficult!  :-\

1. What did you do in 2006 that you’d never done before?
Fell in love with an Englishman.

2. Did you keep your New Years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Oh, I never do that. Not anymore. I stopped all that crap years ago. I grew tired of consistently disappointing myself.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No. My niece had a baby, but that was this year. I sometimes think my dog Cody would like to be a mother. Especially when I watch him carry on with the neighbor's male dog. Confused yet? My dog is gay ya'll! YES it's true!! I think he wants to be a mama.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
My Aunt Destine in New Orleans and a close friend in Florida. I attended both funerals.  :'(

5. What countries did you visit?
I didn't visit anything. I stayed right here in the US the whole time.

6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
Who thought up these questions?? Yipes!! These are really hard! I can't think of anything; at least for me personally.

7. What date from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I have a hard time remembering last week, much less last year.  :(  I'll probably remember that awful day up at lake Wawasee when a water animal bit me on my leg and I ended up with septicemia. It was really awful.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
When they awarded me the Congressional Medal of Honor.   ;)  I don't know. Maybe trying to be as available to my Father as possible. He is suffering from Parkinson's disease.

9. What was your biggest failure?
WAAAAAY too many to list.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I have a seriously sprained ankle, but it's getting much better now.  :)  I have a bad back, and it hurts sometimes.

Oh, you wanted to know about last year. I injured my leg seriously at the lake. It was terrible.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Airline tickets so my boyfriend could come over here from England to see me.   :)

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Probably my ex lover Cory. He took care of me after I injured my leg, and I was a wicked witch much of the time. He remained kind and gentle; always with a smile on his face, and I thankful to him for it.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Just about everyone in my family at various times during the year.

14. Where did most of your money go?
House payments, taxes and bills. And airlines tickets so my boyfriend from London could come over to see me! And he's back here again right now too!!  :D

15.What made you really really really excited?
When my boyfriend came over here to visit me. These answers may be repetitive, but they're true!!

16.What song will forever remind you of 2006?
"My Back Porch Looking In" by Lonestar. The song was released several years ago, but it makes me think of 2006.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? happier
b) thinner or fatter?  unchanged
c) richer or poorer? unchanged. Maybe a little richer.

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
I wish I'd spent more time working on my music.

19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
I wish I'd done less partying. Wait. No I don't! I wish I'd done less bitching and griping about my problems. It doesn't do any good, and it's a complete turnoff for everyone forced to listen to it.

20. How did you spend Christmas?
With my family and then with some friends.

21. How did you spend New Year's?
Drunk. With friends.

22. Did you fall in love in 2006?
I fell out of love in 2006, and then I fell in love again. I thought my whole world was crashing in on me, and then Alex walked into my life. Things are better than ever now, and I'm still good friends with my ex, Cory. He lives here with me too!

23. How many one-night stands?
Zero. None.

24. What were your favorite TV programs?
Everybody Loves Raymond, Most Haunted, Supernatural and Super Nanny.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
I don't hate anyone. I've never hated anyone. I'm very disappointed in some people though.

26. What was the best book you read?
"Star" by Danielle Steel

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
When I decided to try playing Bach's "Unaccompanied Cello Suites". I have a lot of fun playing it! I didn't think I would.

28. What did you want and get?
Alex. We were friends for many years before, but once we decided to give it a go, we fell deeply in love.

29. What did you want and not get?
I'm really not a person who WANTS things. So the answer to this question is nothing.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Brokeback Mountain. Oh wait! Of THIS year? I haven't been to very many movies this year. Probably "Zodiac".

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
My friends threw me a surprise birthday party and I was 44 years old (God that hurts when I tell people) last year. People tell me I don't look my age though. I wonder how much longer it will last?

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
I can't think of anything. Sorry.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
Preppy.

34. What kept you sane?
My friends. And my dog.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Jensen Ackles

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The Iraq war. It stirs me the wrong way every time I think about it.

37. Who did you miss?
My Mother. She passed on in 2003. I miss her every day.

38. Who was the best new person(s) you met?
Well, since I already knew Alex, I can't count him. I met many wonderful people right here on Bettermost!  :D

38. Side question...who would I like to get to know better?
Everybody on Bettermost!! Maybe next year when I go to the BBQ!

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006:
Never give up on love.

40. Quote a song lyric (from any song, from any year) that sums up your year:
"My List" by Toby Keith

Under an old brass paperweight is my list of things to do today
Go to the bank and the hardware store, put a new lock on the cellar door
I cross 'em off as I get 'em done but when the sun is set
There's still more than a few things left I haven't got to yet

Go for a walk, say a little prayer
Take a deep breath of mountain air
Put on my glove and play some catch
It's time that I make time for that
Wade the shore and cast a line
Pick up a long lost friend of mine
Sit on the porch and give my girl a kiss
Start livin', that's the next thing on my list

Those were really hard questions! But they were very good ones too. Thanks for posting them!  :D

1. What did you do in 2006 that you’d never done before?  Uh...  Threw the remote control so hard at the TV that it left a dent in the entertainment center (luckily I'm a lousy shot).

2. Did you keep your New Years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?  I never make New Year's Resolutions.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?  No.

4. Did anyone close to you die?  No.

5. What countries did you visit?  Unfortunately, none but my own.  :(

6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?  Some adventure (in a good way).

7. What date from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?  March 5.  If you have to ask why, you're probably on the wrong forum.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?  Getting something out in the open with my husband I had long ago buried and hadn't shared with anyone.

9. What was your biggest failure?  Still not being able to lose that 20 pounds.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?  Nothing serious, luckily.

11. What was the best thing you bought?  My Vidal Sassoon ceramic straightening iron.  It's the light of my life - I can't believe I lived without it for so long.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?  My son's - we finally got him *fully* potty-trained and taught him to read all in the span of the same year.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?  As always, that of the entire Bush administration and several peripheral players.

Just give me novacaine.
