Brokeback Haiku

Repost some of your old ones, make up new ones, what ever. they can't take away what we love.

The taste of his lips
Linger on the cigarette
And I breathe in deep.

Here are three of my old ones, followed by a fourth and fifth I came up with yesterday:

Little dog in coat
Gray-white sheep seeking mountain
Blue boy seeking love.

Lightning Flat prairie
Scorched grass sighing in the wind
Weeds will hold my love.

Mouth gaping, blood red
Staining desert sage gully
Love's terrible price.

Shirts entwined, repose
Hidden in trailer corner
Gathering dust, love.

And sleeping, the boys
Gather warmth from their bodies
Clasping chilled fingers.

Nothing compares, I think, when thinking right, to a good friend.

I tried but mine just aren't any good...I seem to have lost my flair for writing.

Share them with us anyway...you might be surprised at how effective others might find them. I really loved our old haiku thread--some real gems there.

Joe On The Mountain

One-eyed man sees nought
But what he fears in himself
Pure love in nature

...I liked that! Old man Aguirre tends to get overlooked in these parts, so your contribution was a welcome reminder of his significant presence.

Keep 'em coming, friend.

Suddenly I started writing haiku on my phone. It's just the right length for a text message. Here's one I wrote this morning.

Crow calls at dawn…
Soon the rusty screen door will make its
Sweet-salty sound.
