another tid bit about French Lick Springs....remember Pluto Water?

It was, perhaps, one of the first bottled waters sold in the U.S. and was taken from the springs around french Lick. Peopled LOVED it. Whenever we felt a bit sick, my grandmother would always say, 'give 'em some Pluto water...'

it was taken off the market by the governament because it contained huge amounts of lithium which occurs naturally around french lick. and part of the reason for the name is that the deer in the area were always licking the rocks in the streams....guess why!

Yeah, I remember reading about that pluto water. Lithium occurs naturally throughout Indiana, I think. I know it's found in southern and central Indiana. That's why the state government is trying to switch everyone from well water to city water.

My parents had well water when they first moved into their house. The well was about 300 feet deep and it had an electric pump that carried the water into the house. It tasted really good too. It was nice and cold. It had a slight sweet taste to it. Maybe that was the lithium we were tasting?  ???

Phew! That was hard, David. I only knew the answers to a few of those questions off the top of my head, mainly from reading your blog. Hope I got some of them right!   :-\

Question 20 particularly made me laugh. Much as I wanted to respond with Buckeyes, Wolverines, Tarheels or Brokies, I thought it best to play it safe and go with Hoosiers!!!

Thanks for posting this very interesting quiz. It has improved my knowledge of Indiana enormously!  :D

David,

Having lived most of my life on the west coast, I know almost nothing about your homestate, I'm sorry to say.  I did do a poetry reading in Evansville in 2003 to promote a book of mine, and that's as much time as I ever spent in Indiana and I would take your quiz if I could answer any questions, but I can't, cause I just don't know any answers!

Yeah, I remember reading about that pluto water. Lithium occurs naturally throughout Indiana, I think. I know it's found in southern and central Indiana. That's why the state government is trying to switch everyone from well water to city water.

So does that mean no one is bipolar there?
