Except I don't know that any other actress would have been any better. The character was pointless and they should have just ditched her and let Butch and Sundance get it on  ;)

Well said, Leslie! Hope you liked Butch and Sundance apart from the wooden Katherine, LauraGigs.
I must say I liked Tom Cruise in Risky Business, Jerry Maguire, and Far and Away. You may begin the firing squad now.

Tom Hanks as "the Indiana Jones of Cryptography" in The DaVinci Code.   ::)

When I think of all the tall, dark handsome actors who could have played the part of Robert Langdon...but they chose Mr. Teddy Bear, lest the audience get the squicks over ...
LOL! Was that the reason he was cast?? I had my heart set on Daniel Day-Lewis in that role!!

I'll take a last cigarette as well because I actually liked Tom in Interview with the Vampire. (Hated Brad Pitt)

Delalluvia, pardon my ignorance but what does squicks mean?

Is it the same as "catching cooties"?

I sense a trend here. Tom seems to do well in characters who are hurtling hell-bent for disaster. Agree?

Real life imitates art...

Moving on past Tom. Did anyone see "My Own Private Idaho"? I've been wanting to check that one out. How was Keanu Reeves in that one? Miscast?

I saw it a long time ago. I didn't think he was a miscast. River and him had good chemistry. But Keanu has never been a good actor so don't expect an oustanding performance on his part.

Speaking of Interview with the Vampire, Christian Slater as the journalist.

(The same Jack-Nicholson-wannabe schtick from Pump Up the Volume. Ew!)

LOL! Was that the reason he was cast??

Why else?  Except for maybe he wanted the role and Ron Howard is his buddy.  Tom Hanks is a man who has a look you can trust.  A man you would trust alone with your daughter.  They wanted to take the sexual tension that was in the book completely out of the movie.  If you read the book the two main characters are giving each other the eye and make promises to meet up in romantic Venice...

Daniel Day-Lewis, eh?  You wouldn't have heard me complaining.  I was thinking more along the lines of Clive Owen or Hugh Jackman.  YUM!!!

What a waste!!!
