Most of our presidents have had dogs---the Clintons had a dog and a cat, tho. But maybe at different times.

Sybil is very pretty and healthy-looking. Is "Moggie" another word for cat, or is it a certain type of cat? I have never heard it til now.

well i have 2 dogs, Brie a female pit-lab mix black and white she's sweet and smart but has her issues but what dog doesn't right she's real attached to me but a good dog all the same.  then theres Spike a shepherd/chow/husky mix attached to my hip he is, he chose me about 5 years ago and has just stuck around.  he is seven but you couldn't tell by looking at him, he's as stubborn as a mule and very set in his was.  there's munchkin or munchy for short my cat she is a princess or so she thinks won't drink any water that has sat for longer than 10 minutes and loves the outdoors.  Jake and Johnny are my two ratties Jake is a little sweetheart and loves to give kisses, can't really tell you much about Johnny i just got him on saturday but he's starting to adjust to his new home.  saved both of them from being snake food.  then i have three betas and two goldfish.  quite the meagerie.

RIPLEY 1990-2007

My good, smart kitty, Ripley, died last night. R.I.P. Ripster! I love you and I'll see you at the bridge.

Oh Shasta.  :(  I'm so sorry to hear about Ripley.   :'( :'( :'(  I'm sending you all my sympathy Bud.  It's so hard to lose a beloved friend like Ripley.
Hope you're doing OK.

On a lighter note...

HOORAY for SOCKS the first-cat!!  What a cutie.   Black cats, tuxedo cats and calico cats are my favorite kinds of cats (my current cat is a black cat and the cat I grew up with was calico... so someday my goal is to get a tuxedo cat too  ;D)

I wonder if the Clintons still have Socks.  Maybe Socks will get to be first-cat again if Hillary is elected! :)

Thanks Amanda---it helps to share a sorrow. I'm good.

Ripley was getting very feeble, but she was up and around--eating and drinking--until the day she died. She just kinda wore out. She was lying under a tree in the backyard where she always stayed if she wasn't in the house.

I got her at the humane society in Heber Springs, AR, when she was just a baby, and she had a great long life.  I expect to see her again when I wear out.

Socks is so cute! That's a cute picture of the president, too. I've met him, you know!  :)

Shasta, I am sooooo sorry to hear about Ripley!  :'(  :'(

Maybe in a few months, after you have had a little time to grieve, you could bring another kitten into your life. You may not feel like it now, but perhaps in a few months it will seem like a good idea to you. And there are so many homeless animals at the shelter looking for a good home and a loving owner.  :)
Dogs have owners. Cats have staff.
