Skimble is very cute! Looks like a contented kitty---got candy and computer--who wouldn't be happy?

*You may have already told this, but---did you get Skimbles' name from "CATS"? There is a cat named Skimbleshanks---I think he is the railroad cat in the show. My favorite dance number is the train one and also the rock and roll---RumTumTugger!  ;D

Yup, from CATS! Not many people get the reference!  I played the number Skimbleshankas the Railway cat in my school brass band and loved it - so used it as his name - but shortened as I thought I may get wierd looks if I shouted for Skimbleshanks every night!

;D

Cam sheds 24/7/12/365 --all that--I don't see how he keeps from being bald! He always has very thick fur. And, yes, I brush him. I could brush him for hours and still he would be shedding. Anyone have a homeopathic remedy? (Besides shearing.)  :P

I don' have a homeopathic remedy Shasta. My only advice to you is to just keep brushing him like Hell won't have it.

That's what I do with Cody. I brush him and I brush him until the cows come home... and HE STILL SHEDS!! But eventually I get it all out. I have friends with allergies who come to visit and Cody never bothers them. This is not an easy feat to accomplish with a Golden Retriever!  :P

He should stop shedding in a month or two when he starts to develop his winter coat. But he'll still shed. Just not as much.  :P

I know Shasta. It's ridiculous, isn't it?

Re Cody's brushings: Shasta I should also point out that I brush Cody 3 times each day; once in the morning before I go to work, once after a return home, and once again before I go to bed. Each of his brushing sessions lasts about 15 or 20 minutes. I found if I do this, I can stay ahead of his shedding, because it never has a chance to really build up. I suppose this may not work for you and others, because some animals despise being brushed. Cody loves it. He gets all doey eyed when I brush him. I brush him in my utility room, and I shake off the rug thoroughly outside after each "session" (I don't know what else to call it). I also have an ionizer in the utility room and it attracts and traps the finer pieces of fur floating around after we finish.

He also gets a weekly bath and I keep him trimmed in the summer which also helps with the shedding.  :D

I'm lucky that Charlie doesn't shed at all!  However he recently got all luggy so he had to have a short-back-and-sides ... he's a skinny little runt under all that hair!

Susie

Aww! Charlie is such a cute name for a dog. I was thinking about adopting a lab pup and naming him either Charlie, Heyoki (which means little clown in Lakota) or Louie. But I decided against adopting him. One dog and a cat is enough for me right now!  :D

I've seen some pictures of your dog Susie, and he's so cute!  :D

I brush Cam, but not as much as I should. Cam is like Cody---he loves to be brushed. He will streeeetch his leg out straight so I can get to it, and he doesn't like it when I stop. Of course I have to give my little weener dog some brushing too because she barks until I do---even tho she has very short hair and hardly sheds at all--if any.  She just wants her turn! Weener dogs that I've known are very adamant about certain things!

That's cute!

They're just like little children, aren't they? But this is exactly why I decided against the Labrador pup. Cody alone occupies a lot of my time. I spend almost an hour each day just brushing him! That doesn't count the time I spend walking him, playing with him, feeding him, cleaning up after him, etc. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE it, and wouldn't have it any other way. But I don't know if I have enough time for a second dog.

And my cat Oreo demands time from me too. He's a very independent little guy, but he likes attention from me as well. And I brush Oreo too, and he likes it, but I don't brush him nearly as much as I brush Cody. I mostly just cuddle Oreo or bounce a piece of string over his head so he can bat at it. It doesn't take much to keep my cat entertained!  :D

UK dog undergoes first knee swap

A bearded collie from Tyneside is to undergo the UK's first canine knee replacement operation.
Grace, from Whitley Bay, struggles to walk because of crippling arthritis which has left her in constant pain.

The seven-year-old has now been referred to a specialist veterinary practice in Solihull, West Midlands.

Her owners hope the procedure, to be carried out at Willows Referral Service on Wednesday, will restore Grace to an active, happy life.

Hip replacement operations have been performed in dogs for many years, but no knee replacements have ever been carried out on dogs in the UK, according to a practice spokesman.

hey everyone,

Kelda, I hope that Grace's knee will be better soon.

Now, here are our two little kitties...

this is Suzy, 14 years old. She enjoys company, but she's doesn't like being picked up and cuddled.  She was the runt of the litter and she's always been small, but she's a sweetie.

and this is Ollie, our 3 year old huge tomcat. He likes to cuddle. When you're lying on the couch, reading a book our watching television, changes are he'll jump on you and literally put his arms paws around you and put his head on your shoulder. I know, i know, strange hunh,  ;D We absolutely adore him.
Unfortunately Suzy's very afraid of him, constantly hissing at him and running away. I don't know why, he's such a push over!

Sorry, my pictures are very good. I should ask Jude for some tips, she has the most awesome cat pictures.
