Well, Ember has a new brother.  He's actually her nephew. (Her sister had puppies in September.)

She is less than thrilled, but she's a cautious girl under the best of circumstances. It will definitely take some time before they are best buds. Today was better than yesterday, so I'm feeling a bit more optimistic.

As for his name, I'm not sure. His breeder had been calling him "Foggy," but that doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.  Whatever his name is, he's going to puppy class tomorrow.

In the meantime, I'm exhausted.  You know, this really seemed like a good idea at the time.  :)

Congrats, Fran.  I love the photo:  Auntie Ember looks like she's keeping a close eye on the new guy.

He's adorable, with ?brindle patches.

"Foggy"?  I guess one could get used to it.

Thanks for the good wishes/comments regarding the new addition.

Yes, Paul, those are brindle patches.  Out of eight puppies, four of each sex, he was the only brindle one.  Everyone else is fawn and white.

Foggy is now Forest, after his birthplace of Lake Forest, Illinois.

His performance in puppy class was only so-so as he was a bit distracted, this being his first time there.  (This was our first week but everyone else's second.)  He did manage to make it to and from class (with a couple of errands in between) without throwing up in the car.  As I told the people in puppy class, this one is on probation, but things are looking up.  :)

Ember has taken to humping him -- so major kudos to my timid girl.  If he stays, I think she's going to rule the roost.
